To see if you have the long version, you'll need to measure the REACH (centre of bb shell to centre of the top of the headtube) this will determine it as it will be the construction of the frame that differs in frame length, if you get what I mean?
About picking a new frame, a bit of advice I can give is to look into the REACH length. Although wheelbase does matter, the reach is often overlooked, but is a vital measurement. I was riding an 06 Python running a 1055-60mm wb and now run an 08 GU Typhoon. The new wheelbase measures 1035-45 (off the top of my head) but, because the reach is 15-20mm longer on the GU, it feels just as long as the Python despite the wheelbase being shorter. Coupled with shorter chainstays, the GU feels a lot more flickable to ride!
