I had drilled side walls on the rear in this video works really good Jamie

To make the bolt shorter you can use the washer out of a chain take apart the chain like in the pic If it's not the bolts then get a can cut a strip off and put it around the cylinder should do the trick! Jamie

It's OK hope you get it fixed And Yeah you drill it to M6 size then tap with M6 tap and then insert a M6 helicoil thread which makes it an M5 thread happy days It also make it a lot stronger Jamie
