  5. Man things are different for you guys than when I went to uni (96-00), we paid a month's rent deposit upfront and that was it, no references, no booking fee, just 27 pounds per week plus bills (which weren't much as I was mean with the heating). Seems that over the years the vultures have moved in and are now taking chunks out of you guys left right and central.
  6. For those that say "Other people use more energy than me so what difference does it make me cutting back? well this is a massively defeatist attitude and a lame justification. There's no downside in doing your bit so why not? It doesn't cost you anything to switch things off when they're not being used or trying to do things more efficiently. On another note it was nice to read a thread where (some) the contributors are writing concise, intellectual and well thought out replies, such a refreshing change for this forum.
  7. Yeah mine's like that, any single bike covered up to 4k, I have the premium/gold top notch job insurance with Marks and Spencers.
  8. Dude, big mistake - loan companies never forget or let things go - but you already know this now. OK, as JD says you must contact them, forget about trying to keep them away etc - you signed a contract with them to pay them back and there is no balls up on their account. Now they've found you they can easily get a court order/warrant to get court appointed baliffs to come round your house - and it won't be like private baliffs, these guys can legally come into your house (though can't break their way in). You need to get yourself over to moneysavingexpert forums for more qualified/structured advice. This will not go away, you could declare bankruptcy but you'll never get a mortgage and you'll still have your valuables taken.

Enjoy having access to some good riding/rock, I hardly have anytime and nowhere decent to ride when I do as I'm a big fan of natural - but I'm still dedicated to the cause.
  10. You've just started Pete? Personaly I wouldn't bother with supplements until you've been going for a year or so (I don't use any, found I can lift as much without) - your body grows pretty well by itself at first - save the cash. I used to be pretty intense on the gym but now I only manage twice a week so focus on some core exercises: Bench press - the peoples favourite Pull/chin ups Squats Shoulder press Arm curls Freench press/skull crushers I do variations on each exercise/muscle group each week just to keep it interesting. I train for strength so size and shape comes as a by product, I'm now at a size which hinders riding a bit - but never mind. Hit it hard and heavy and don't skimp on the control of the lift.
  11. My second trials bike after my Team Marin (need to scan a photo for this one), 13" Stumpjumper with cannondale P-bone forks, I thought it was awesome -but in reality it was crap - so short that you'd hit your forward foot on the front wheel when you turned circa 1997/8 photo from 1998 Malverns: I had a Leeson clear 660 after this - still trying to find some pics. And then a Pashley 26GHz in 2003/4 ish

  14. If you believe it will work then it will, otherwise its total BS.
  15. Anyone still got a copy of MBUK with the review of the Leeson Clear 660 in it? That was my bike and I have no pictures of it by itself. Circa 2001.

Also remeber that unless they're working on the behalf of the council/governmant, baliffs can't force their way onto your property, they may give you some crap but they have no legal right without a court order.
  17. Are you happy with what Anrew has written you are you still unsure? We're only trying to help but I need to know where the problem lies. So to check: In the questions replace the letter n with the number 5 and the letter m with 2 two numbers next to each other with no symbol means multiply (sometimes a . is used instesad of a x (times)) Work out the values in the brackets first, so where it says (3m)* work out the 3 times m part first being 3x2 = 6 then square this number (times itself) (6)* = 6x6 = 36 when you have say a multiple of a number to a power, work out the power part first: so for 5m* work out m* first, with m=2 this is 2* = 2x2 = 4 Then multiply by the 5 5 x 4 = 20 As a side note if you want to write a number to power without the abilty to add what is known as a superscript to put a small 2 above the number, for a squared number, a common way to type it is as 2^2 = 2* = 2x2, or as a cube 2^3 = 2** = 2x2x2
  18. I observed an spinning class once - looked like legalised torture!
