Any one ride local in bath and surrounding area ?
ellingtj replied to BraceUrSelf's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
Whole bunch of us along the road in Swindon, don't know anyone in Bath though. -
Wow!!! Unreal, just when you think you've seen everything...
-
FFS stop making everything look so easy, I've got low enough self esteem as it is....
-
Where is this? it appears gravity has a lower value here....

Vlog 4, fantastic, some scary stuff in there. It's like being out riding (with much better riders) but from the comfort (safety) of the office chair. Must dust off the old seatless machine.
-
Yeah Ali, I'm a big fan of these vlogs, keep them coming, they make an interesting change to usual trials vids. Your delivery is calm yet still engaging, inspires this old boy to get out and ride.
-
Nice tech riding Kev. I like the by-stander interest, some genuine surprise from some of them, nice to see an appreciation.
-
Er wah, dah, erm, I have no words, unreal!

For all those who remember Gav and what happened, I've just seen this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2631297/Innocent-smoothie-makers-fined-80-000-worker-killed-metal-pipework-fell-hit-head.html Apologies if a repost etc. Tim.

And now for some trials related trivia, former Pashley trials rider, Matt Tongue, is one of the lead design engineers at Norbar.
-
Nope not too old, there are older guys starting out over on observedtrials.net, give it a go! Tim (34 years young)

AT LAST!! Footage of the world cup, it seemed hard enough just to get homevideos in the past! Cancelled family arrangements meant i could have made it to this the nearest comp, doh! For anyone contemplating going to the worlds as a spectator then I recommend it (from my visit to Val-d'isere last year). Since observing Jack at the British champs last year I've maintained that he is in with a real chance at making it to number one, but lets not underestimate the size of the task, Coustellier was outstanding!! Massive respect for Kenny pushing on with such injury. Loving the biketrial at the moment!

Looks like a great laugh! That's what I like to see, trials not being taken too seriously and having a good time.
-
Watched it and thought "that's f'ing amazing" but then realised afterwards it was brakeless! Watched it again and to be honest nothing much surprises me in trials videos these days but this was an eye opener, something new, something truly different. Damn! Awesome! Keep it up.

Took me quite a while to find TF forum, previously I was on biketrials.com and before that the trials mailling list before the forums were around (circa 96).
-
UCI rules, the dabs were on the bash ring/pedal.
-
Good point, the event was a multi dicipline mtb event with a sort of bmx/dh race loop for mtb riders, I remember Brian Lopes winning. The trials was a big part of it though but the format is still unclear, I saw another section with Vinco v's Girrard but it was still only two riders at a time but I'm sure I saw leader board which showed there were quite a few riders.

Inspired by Scotty W's recent retro finds I decided to find footage of a trial I saw on Eurosport back in 1996, this clip is different to the one I have on video but it's the same trial. This trial was one of the the things that really got me into trials.

Damn were they really that low! I remmeber aleays back pedalling before putting the power down so you knew where the EP was in the stroke. Caught up with Ed Tongue (you remmember him Al?) a few weeks back and he said he missed the old style EPs and liked the delay before the power came in - WTF? as the kids say these days. First time I tried a CK hubs I was blown away, also a shame Shimano didn't beef up the zero clutch hubs used on old Monty 26s - they were a revelation to. Anyway another great vid find by Scot W. I've got some old VHS I'd like to digitize of Marc Vinco and Thierry Girard at the ominsport palais in Paris from 1996 - was broadcast on Eurosport.
-
Not sure of the number of EPs on the Megamo Equipe, they were keen on the front freewheel from what I remmember. Chris King were around back then but everyone I knew were genrally running hope hubs which had a engagement point every other day or so :-P (36 I think)

Epic find!!

Bit Of A Brain Workout/common Sense (Person Dependant!)

They're right, assuming the said ballon actually had the ability to float and the scales aren't in a vacuum. Think of it like this, the baloon will have lift or a force in the upwards direction, the sweets act downwards so the net downward force will be decreased by the baloon's presence.
