I'm wanting my adamant a1 frame painting pearl white does anyone know of anyone who does such a thing near chesterfield/sheffield? i'm willing to travel within reason but it must be a good job I had my spooky painted by a guy who owns a bike shop in dronfield but he's shut down since, but if anyone has his contact details if he's still painting. And also where would i get replacement stickers in black for my frame?? and how much is a good paint job these days? cheers
-
I've still got my spooky. i love it to bits. Its upstairs and in mint condition cos i quit dirt not long after i bought loads of new bits and had it painted. Can anyone remember chainspotting, tricks and stunts, mud cows, mbr vids, etc?? I had a zaskar with maguras back in the day. And if u could stall a rail , u were the king. ha. oh how things have changed

sorry should have said thats its a brand new brake, never been used.

how can i stop my lever pulling back so far on my avid juicy 5 front brake? It works really well but the lever pulls back loads and i prefer it to move loads less. On my other xc bike i have juicy 7 ultimates and these are adjusted with a small allen key on the lever but the juicy 5 doesnt have this feature.

ok so its roof tar that is used.
-
i did a search on tar with no results for some reason. where do i get tar from thats suitable for applying to rear rim? how do i apply? cheers
-
can i use the rotor currently fitted? its a 185 avid
-
Currently got a bikehut hydraulic disc brake on a avid rotor and it doesnt work too well. Would a avid juicy 5 with a 165 rotor work any better as someone i kinda know has one for sale. cheers

thanks for reply's guys. Didnt realise that there were any people that are my age still doing it. Its funny now though cos now i'm older i assess things for longer and dont seem to fall off as much. When i were younger i'd go in all guns blazing. Yeh i hate the comments about where's ur seat gone. Does my head in.

I've been away from the whole trials/street riding scene now for about 5 years on and off. Having just recently bought a adamant a1 i've been going out a few nights aweek and i'm getting to be of a good standard again but one thing that is very apparent is that i feel a bit silly when people are watching and also i.m kinda sick of young youths thinking that cos i'm on my own they can attempt to take my bike off me. Dont get me wrong, i dont think that any gang will manage to do anything against me but when i used to ride years ago it were a much nicer atmosphere on the streets. And now cos i'm alittle older i dont like people watching what i'm doing. Any of the older guys gone through this? Shall i just carry on regardless or maybe realise that at 23 i should sell the bike and be boring.

just got a couple of questions mate. I'v e sorted it to come tomorrow evening and have the cash waiting but just need to ask a couple of questions. shall i call tomorrow like we said? cheers
-
whats the difference between a long and short? Sorry but ive been away for ages. Is one more suited to a certain type of riding?
-
Looking into getting this bike and hopefully it'll be tomorrow if everything goes to plan. Will it be ok for me? i'm 6ft and about 12 stone and will be doing street riding/trials. any input appreciated. cheers

Please Help Get My Mates Bike Back.
d8mok replied to Callum-Luvs-Trials's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I'd pay him a visit with a baseball bat mate and then see if he still doesnt know where it is. I hate theives with a passion. Or maybe trick him into thinking u want to buy it? Get someone u know to pose as a buyer and when he's about to hand over the bike , u and about 10 mates appear...... -
i think from looking at pics etc that a high bb bike would suit me. What makes are the good ones to look out for? so far i've learned of adamant, koxx, zoo, echo, ..........
-
cheers for the advice mate. i didnt realise about the bb height. Most of the riding i used to do were on the rear wheel and some high drops etc. I had magura brakes on my monty and to be honest i had nothing but trouble. How come u guys still use them? i thought that everyone would be on discs by now? There is a bike for sale in the classifieds for 300 quid for a user named fat knacker tom. whats this bike like? My current spooky has hope discs and my stumpjumper has avid 7 discs so good brakes are important, as also is the weight as i'm wanting a light bike.
-
dont use msn mate so thats kinda impossible for me. I'll post on here for a while and if by the time i get full member usage i havent got one i can start looking in the fr sale bit. Ebay seems to have a few but kinda look a bit tatty. I've now decided to spend a little less as for around 4-500 quid it looks like u can get a good bike.

ok i take on board ur points but who is more likely to want to buy a bike for sale? somebody who has one and has been a member for a while or a new comer ? surely the newby is more likely to want to buy a nice bike to learn on. And being a member of a forum doesnt gurantee that the seller wont get ripped off and to be honest if the seller is stupid enough to get into a situation that he/she could end up being ripped off they probably deserve it. I never really get forums that put off potential new members and tar everyone with the same brush. All i am is a guy wanting to get back into trials after a few years of not doing it and its kinda hard work to find a nice bike. As a very active member of many car/motorbike forums i'm always first to greet new members but kinda feel some responses were a bit negative of this one and its a shame cos it looks like a well set up forum. All my original post stated was that i'm looking at buying a new bike and if anyone had one for sale i'd be interested. I've got the money sat waiting and could collect in person so no chance of anyone getting ripped off and i'm in the market to do a deal now. I thought that maybe some of the members who are selling bikes would have liked to sell their bike to someone a bit older who can travel and pay cash straight away , my only downfall being that i'm not a full member of this forum. Anyway rant over and i apoligize i came across aggressive or anything. On a seperate subject, is koxx, zoo or monty regarded as the best manufactuer of 26 inch wheeled bikes?
-
What a helpful bunch of guys u lot are. All i wanted to do were buy a bike off someone who takes care of it rather than a abused one off ebay. To be fair though i expect ur probably 15 and havent got a clue how the real world works and were a little mad cos ur maths teacher wanted u to do sums for homework. So has anyone got any helpful advice of where to find a looked after bike? looking to spend upto 1k on the right bike.
-
ok. cheers. kinda a daft rule cos how can someone get into the sport without a bike? so i guess i'll come back when i've bought one. cheers anyway

Hi, my first post so go easy. I' looking at getting a trials bike again. I've currently got a spooky jump bike, and a specialized stumpjumper for xc but i'm wanting to get back into trials having previously owned two monty's ( a 219 xhydra and a 231 xlite). I'm looking for a nice well loked after 26 inch wheel bike with no seat. something like a monty, or zoo pitbull. How come i cant respond to any of the for sale ads?
