  1. I'm not convinced why you'd want to. Same with the Mammoth really- what's the purpose apart from to prove we can? In my mind it's not about playing god but about reversing what nature intended, evolution etc. I think if you can prolong the timeline of an already existing endangered species (polar bears, tigers, whatever) then that's all good but bringing back the dodo, a mammoth or raptor just seems to be pointless. I'd rather see the funding going towards stem cell research or curing debilitating illnesses rather than reintroducing long lost species to the world that has no place for them anymore.
  2. Come on now, did you not read the bit in the bible where god created dinosaurs (and he saw they were good) and ruled the earth for like 100 million years? Oh, wait...
  3. Unfortunately Balanced Bikes will then just come up with 'did you mean balance bikes' and give you bunch of kids bikes...
  4. If he has been continually doping for all these years it's quite amazing he's never been caught or fingered (ooh err) about it previously.
  5. I'm not a huge follower of road racing but obviously know of Lance Armstrong, his own determined responses to anyone accusing him of doping and also the seemingly widespread cheating which goes on in the sport but I'm surprised we haven't had a discussion in here about the story. So yeah, what are people's thoughts? Hate campaign against him by people lying about what he's done or is he just a very convincing lying b*****d himself?
  6. I know what you mean and I'm guessing as well. I think there would be a point at which it crosses over and the higher would indeed result in a longer freefall prior to a chute opening at a given altitude. Might try and throw the cases into excel and see if I can make any sense of it if I can be bothered!
  7. But terminal velocity reduces with altitude as the density of the air increases so because Felix started higher he would've been travelling faster through the upper atmosphere where terminal velocity is higher so would reach the lower, denser atmosphere faster where his terminal velocity would be more comparable to that of Kittinger. I'm with Andrew on this I think.
  8. I keep being pissed off by the BBC putting results on their f**king home page before they air the damn quali/race. I'd just finished setting the qualifying up for recording this morning, go to BBC page- 'Webber takes pole ahead of Vettel'
  9. Would only be worth it if the jackpot was a good bit over £14m and then you can't guarantee you'd be the only winner. Imagine shelling out £14m on tickets on a £25m jackpot which say four people won. You'd then be looking at a £7.75m loss. Simply not worth the risk.
  10. I regularly play the Euromillions, but always do a different lucky dip so it doesn't matter if I ever miss a week. The way I look at it is that it costs me a maximum of £200 a year with the remote possibility of winning 50 million. I fairly regularly win something, usually like £3.10 or whatever but I have had a few £10-£15 wins and a £70 win once. The fact that it benefits lots of people and has partially funded things like UK Sport makes me feel that although in some ways it is a tax on the hopeful/stupid, it does directly benefit a lot of people as well as giving me a very remote possibility of winning something.
  11. Am I being cynical (or racist?) if I wonder whether the media would've kept more up to speed if the victims had been a family of well liked white folks rather than ex Iraqis? Did sound relatively professional (double taps to the head on several of them) but maybe just not as good as the real pros with loose ends left.
  12. Yeah, at one point Joseph has to make his escape and just has to use a painted up Fourplay and Danny Mac is obviously the stunt rider for the sequence. I've just watched it now and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously having an interest in bikes definitely helps but it is quite good and rather watchable.
  13. Good choice- like that idea far more than buying a new bit of bling for the sake of it.
  14. Same. It's interesting to watch but just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather watch Mark or Ali ride brakeless all day long than Sean.
  15. Did the customer also want little bits of red paint left on it?
  16. Probably not the best example to show if you're going to try and make some money from this.
  17. Eww... that looks nasty. Again it's obviously just personal choice but that looks like a rubbery G-Shock or something.
  18. Sorry, I was meaning that the weight wouldn't be in kg's .
  19. Yeah, I think you need to work out the volume from mass and density then the buoyancy is equal to the weight of water displaced (I think, been a looooooong time since I did this stuff!). You've then got gravity pulling the iron down and buoyancy pushing it up giving the apparent weight of the iron. That's what I'd be doing, anyway. Edit: for shapes and stuff you would usually do length x breadth x height or whatever but if given any two of mass, volume and density you can work out the third since they are simply related.
  20. Same here. Very happy and have been for a long time. Wouldn't change anything for the world (well, maybe a Euromillions win would be nice).
