  1. I think it's more temperature related. If you use them on hot roads in the summer then yes but if it's on cold winter roads no. Together with chunkier tread they're just a different compound which doesn't need any temperature to operate. Snow tyres should be narrower with deep blocky tread, winter tyres are in between in the blockiness front but designed more to run on cold tarmac rather than snow (I think).
  2. I want one of those radio controlled UAV camera things!
  3. Chains are (I imagine) a hassle to get on and are great for the 100 feet needed to get off your drive, after which chances are you're going to be on a gritted black top road which will kill chains (or socks). I'd say they're only good if you live in the highlands or somewhere like Sweden.
  4. I don't understand the pic in 1999... In that you look like a giant (pardon the pun) or are you just sitting in a dolls house?
  5. Pretty sure Kenny wasn't the one bitching about the frame...
  6. But it's relative. Sure he helped the charities using his profile but also pocketed tens of millions of dollars in sponsor money, winnings, legal action and who knows what else. I would love to see him taken through the courts, bankrupted and made sure that he can never compete in any sport ever again. Him and the many people in the background who made it happen- all the dodgy doctors, coaches and whatnot.
  7. Ah sorry yeah, 1/20th is the Tamiya non die cast size isn't it. I did a Senna MP4/4 and a Senna 87 Lotus 99T in my yoof, plus a 1/12th '75 Ferrari 312T before moving on to radio controlled cars!
  8. The force being applied to the chain is the same but for the wider chain (with wider rollers) that force is spread over a very slightly larger area.
  9. 1/12th, 1/18th or something else? Lotus 72 fo' sho. Best colour scheme ever, engine on show, in yer face aero and massive sticky slicks on the back.
  10. Gotcha. Not convinced it would make any difference though!
  11. That's how I see it. You've lost me... Contact surface between what and what? For a given 3/32" sprocket/freewheel the chain sees the same contact area but a wider chain (with similar diameter pins) will experience higher bending moment at the point where the sprocket/freewheel touches due to the larger moment arm...
  12. Ah... ok. I was taking j to be just an unknown term rather than an imaginary number.
  13. Doesn't work... if you expand the brackets you'll end up with a j2 term...
  14. I don't really follow that. if you compare a 1/8" and 3/32" chain the only difference is the pin length and roller width. The plates are the same thickness and so there's basically bugger all in it, except that the 1/8" chain will be heavier (and potentially very slightly weaker...
  15. Surely you've just posted a picture of Jardo, no?...
  16. Yeah what he did in cycling was kind of impressive but the way he did it and the type of person he is clearly makes him a grade 1 c@nt who I have zero respect for.
  17. I tried going back after making this thread but because I'd editted the PM (so as not to look like a 'tard who attaches random pictures of monkeys to messages) it wasn't there. Proper weird... Have a tamarin for reading...
  18. I just replied to a PM and when it updated the conversation it had automatically attached a picture of a mustachioed monkey... is that just me?!!
  19. There's a huge difference between what's going on with a Lefty and just chopping off the leg of a pair of trials forks and a chain and seat stay.
  20. So you're the numpty I see who hasn't cleared his windows or roof before setting off .
