  1. And that's why some people think you're a twat. Ali's just made a completely valid point which in no way is a personal attack and you're trying to start an argument. Irrespective of the Northern thing I've been embarrassed to be associated with trials on a ride when people have been making stupid comments to people walking by, nearly getting in fights and generally being tossers. Of course Ali's messed up moves but the point is that he (along with many others, myself included) wouldn't attempt the move if anyone's close by/in danger of being hit if it goes wrong and if anyone asks you to move on (for a completely valid reason) Ali (along with many others) would politely apologies and move on, not be a dickhead. Edit: Oh yeah, the video. Some big ol' moves in there that are very impressive but particularly on the dropgaps it seems a shame you never show any of the set ups for them. You're clearly very capable at the T's and S's to get there and I'm not going to assume that you just carry your bike onto the take off spot each time before hitting the dropgap but where would be the harm in showing you doing the up to back wheel/sidehop or whatever to get you into the position of doing the move? Obviously that's not always going to be possible and some dropgaps will of course require you to carry the bike up but for some of the occasions where it would be perfectly doable to show the 'line' leading to the dropgap I think it would add a lot to the video...
  2. There don't seem to be many BMXers in here but I'm quite please with this so thought I'd stick it up! I got a new BMX recently and even after a couple of quick sessions at the skatepark my rear hub's started to suffer from grinding (icepicks+micro dropouts doesn't really work) so I looked into some hub guards. Most of these seem to be hub specific with others (like the G-Sport) being more spoke protectors rather than hub guards and then I spotted my oil filter tool in the garage... One of these: 10 minutes on the lathe at work and bob's your uncle. Just replaces one spacer on the hub and almost looks like it's designed for the job!
  3. Anyone else hoping the BBC stick to their guns and get rid of Clarkson for good?
  4. Crazy. I didn't realise it was 1897!
  5. So do you actually do anything on a normal shift or are you the manual fall back in case of electronic system failure?
  6. They're not actually a 'thing' though are they? Like the people that ride them are either kids (which doesn't seem to happen often) or BMXers having a piss around. Please tell me it's not becoming a separate discipline?...
  7. I never listen to the radio because the buggers keep talking. If they just played music fine but they insist on talking shite all the time. If I'm ever forced to listen to the radio on the way to work due to a flat iPod battery I just end up shouting 'PLAY SOME f**kING MUSIC' at the radio... and that's what grinds my gears.
  8. Oh go on. Always good to hear what Danny butler gets up to!
  9. He really does sound like he wants to go to the woods and shout at rocks.Who'da thunk it?
  10. Watched Birdman the other day and didn't really get it. Weird film.
  11. Thankfully I'm not there you old bugger. In fact I'm going the other way and have just bought a new BMX . Act your shoe size and all that!
  12. Doesn't seem very because racecar to me...
  13. Although I don't feel like I should be quitting just because of my age I do find that I tend not to go on big group rides with the yoofs and there hashtagawesomeness... I really need to make an effort to get out with the likes of Prawn, Luke and the old school mob down here as I do miss messing around in Southampton, Pompy etc. but tend not to attend the average group ride for one reason or another. Similarly to Ads I've never really done the stupid big stuff that instilled self preservation so much so that side hasn't changed although I do find my calibration fails me when it comes to gaps and ups and stuff, I guess because there are things that I definitely used to be able to do with ease that I'll now try and just can't get. Partly due to lack of pop from not riding enough and partly from a 'brain says no' standpoint. Slightly frustrating whatever!
  14. The Bill is really good (and open all week) but the quarries up near the Portland Heights hotel are pretty good. Some are still working though so you need to go on Sundays. There's also some stuff by the Verne and also if you head along Bumpers Lane and keep going there's plenty to do. Around Weymouth itself there's the stuff by the pavillion (transitiony stuff as well as walls/platforms near where the Condor used to dock. Also some walls, rails and groins along the sea front and definitely worth heading over towards the Nothe Fort and some of the sea defenses around that area.
  15. Quite proud to think that I was (I think) the first UK rider to ride an Echo and be sponsored by them back in 2001. It's a bit of a shame Deng kept such a low profile within trials.
  16. He appears to have to removed the videos from his Facebook page.
  17. I don't think it's just that though (as in not purely tailoring his riding to make money). Kenny always looks like he's enjoying what he's doing and is approachable and just a generally nice guy. I'm sure the Cousts are nice in their own way but riding wise they tend to put out crap videos (as in poorly put together, editted etc. regardless of riding content) and only ever come across as angry Frenchman taking things way too seriously which is never going to catch the public's/sponsors attention outside of the sport and so they'll never 'make it' in the same sense as Kenny. And don't get me started on the clothing choices.
  18. Shit picture is shit. Looks like under proper light it's probably white and gold. If it's black then it's a shiny material reflecting the yellowy light in the shop and if it's blue then my guess of the crap picture making it look blue when it's actually white is wrong. Refer to my first sentence.
  19. It did work as I wanted it to but the issue was having to reach down to activate it (release the seat QR then redo while riding). When I came across the cheap Tmars ones with the remote actuation I thought I'd give it a go. The gas strut was a cheap one from eBay (was an 8kg one that cost £6.74 I think) and it's certainly doable in an afternoon but I must admit I like having a lever on the bars now! If you do go for it I'd say the USE plastic shim/bush was a good plan- had the required split already in it to line up with the alignment slot in the post and related pin through the seat clamp and did a good job of keeping metallic surfaces apart.
  20. Been there a couple of times and looked at that thinking 'how cool would it be to...'. Good work Rick!
  21. I take it they mean 2015? Or have they only just found him after 3 years? Maybe not? Weird.
