  1. Dicta-no concern there as they're poo. 3 ACS's...probably about average, particularly if they weren't kept tight or not really looked after. Shimano and KMC (other than a Kool)-that's unlucky but not unusual. I always change my chains before they snap. Shadow Chain-no surprised as I've only heard bad things about them. Chain tools...Methinks you must be using them wrong! I've had the same (cheap) chain tool for about 6 years now and it's still going strong. I think you're doing ok. At least nothing major's broken like frames or wheels which is a telltale sign of a 'heavy' rider. Dave
  2. I've always wondered what trials would be like in 36 years time... Not the smoothest riding ever but you've sure got some bottle- nice big drop gaps in there! Big taps and sidehops too. Good stuff :o Dave
  3. Yeah, that's what I thought but just needed confirmation! Dave
  4. I've got a CK with funbolts, but yes, with the hanger off the hub will clamp down on half the material as with the hanger. I'm just not sure if the hanger itself takes any load or if it simply provides a mounting point for the mech/tensioner. Dave
  5. I used to run my mech as a tensioner but since putting a new (unstretched) chain on, the tension is about right without anything so I've removed it, running the bike like Dan's above. On a similar note, do mech hangers take any load off of the frame? Do you reckon it's ok if I take the hanger off the frame completely without damaging the frame? Dave
  6. This is one of the best (read funniest) threads I've ever seen on T-F.... Mmm humbugs... I've always had a soft spot for good ol' After Eights though of course. Classic. Very nice riding. I want to live there though :)
  7. Are the rubber things quite soft? All the bashguards I've used use hard rubber or nylon spacers which make it impossible to inflict that sort of damage to a bash. Dave
  8. Carrying on riding with the bashplate in that state is asking for trouble. I'm surprised the freewheel could even turn without the chain fouling it! With three mounting points and the rubber spacers, it takes a hell of a lot of force to deform a bashguard anywhere near that shape. IMO that has been repeatedly pummelled, at strange angles, into something very hard. I doubt I could make my bash look like that with a fecking hammer. The extra stresses that bash would be putting through the forward mount would be quite substantial to say the least, leading to the obvious, inevitable failure. I think Onza are being generous giving half price replacement to be honest! Dave
  9. Hahah like anyone would EVER start on you TRA!! You're a full on Viking dude! Can't say I've ever had any proper hassle from Chav's, and I live in Southampton, one of the most Pikey citys in the South! Sure they give it the usual 'give us a shot of your bike mush' but I just don't provoke them. If you don't show agression they tend not to bother. I make a point of never avoiding going out on my own or being afraid of being hassled. This is where I live and no Chav tw@t's going to stop me riding where I want. Dave
  10. I've watched it about 15 times and still don't really get what's going on! Like you said, I tried the website too and that's more confusing than the damn film! On a similar note, have you seen The Butterfly Effect? I saw that recently and it seems similar to Donnie Darko and, if anything, darker. It's well worth checking out if you liked Donnie. Very well acted too. Dave
  11. Forget Tesco and that lot (good for cars, pants for vans) and give CIS a phone. The only people I've found who accept that some people drive vans without running a business. My minivan had quotes of the £2k mark for TPFT, CIS sorted me out fully comp for about £900. Cheapest I've found for vans. You'll probably have to actually phone them and explain the situation though. Online quote's often miss the mark. Dave Marshall
  12. Dude, you're a bit good at that!! Looks really cool. What version do you use? (planning to have a search on emule for a download (Y)" ) Dave
  13. Now I know why I set my controls to ignore Adamm's posts. I wear skate shoes for street (etnies/vans/DVS's) and have Monty pixie boots to get muddy at comps. Having worn them almost entirely for comps, they've lasted me the best part of 4 years and I'll probably just get another pair when they die (which is about now). Dave
  14. Ok, question regarding all these kinda of little online games... The poeple who have the top scores-have they simply cracked the game/site and made up their own scores? Take this BMX game, played a few times and max'd out at about 40k... the top score by 'kyu' however is 3276671. I don't see how that could be possible! Meh, what a sad life I lead!!
  15. Definately worth it. My last ACS lasted less than two weeks and if you've ever opened one up and seen the design, you'll see it's absolute crap. The ENO is a very well machined piece of kit which will last you for years. I'm tempted to get rid of my King on my stock and go front freewheel with an ENO instead...they're that good! Dave
  16. Just out of interest, what was Ackers riding? Dave
  17. It's not so much on your height as the type of riding you do. Flatland bikes tend to be super short (like 18/19") but some street riders also run short frames to make the bike more flickable as a short bike will spin faster and the front wheel should feel lighter for manuals etc. To be honest, anything around the 20.5" mark would be fine for virtually any type of riding, unless you're really tall in which case something along the lines of a macneil Deuce Deuce with a 22" TT would save you looking like you're riding a kids bike...to some extent! Hope that's of some use... Dave
  18. Streetfighter rocks! Loved it since first playing the original SF2 on the SNES years ago. Used to have immense Ken vs. Ryu fireball fights with my best mate. Have got the SF2 collection for my PSOne but don't play it too much. Dave
  19. Heheh, there's one to annoy all the pre-members... Max signs up on the 24th, makes one post and is immediately validated (Y). Just an observation. Nice little vid there, could have the next Vincent Hermance in the making! Dave
  20. I take it that's the 'CLS' gap to the angled lower part? Did Fletch have the BIG gap over the water? The boy's got balls of aerospace grade titanium alloy!! Dave
  21. Paul from Southampton snapped his curtis forks at the crown a couple of weeks ago. For anyone who's seen Paul ride, he's one of the smoothest riders around who doesn't tap much and doesn't do anything which would snap forks (he spends most of his time with the front wheel in the air manualing to be fair!). Against some advice he received, he's gone for another set, this time with the reinforcment around the steerer. He had to pay full price for them though...good ol' Curtis and their confidence in their products (Y)" . Dave
  22. Sorry, totally off-topic but what's going on with Pashley? Aire Valley seem to be the only place selling those wierd complete bikes which appear to use cheap taiwanese alloy frames...doesn't sound like the Pashley I know!! Meh. Dave
