It sounds like you're trying to look at it logically... there's no chance any woman will ever understand that!! Strange creatures...

Camera, Yes, Again, But My Needs Are Specific
monkeyseemonkeydo replied to Simon's topic in Chit Chat
Hey guys, I was just about to post a new topic on virtually the same thing... good thing I searched! I'm in the market for a similar camera- basically as close to SLR without the $$. I'm off to Kenya over Easter so wanter a new camera with lots of optical zoom to take pictures of lions and shizzle. I'd narrowed it down to a Sony DSC-H2 or a Fuji S6500 . Any thoughts on these? Having read the posts, it looks like the Fuji S5600 might be an even better bet though. Cheers, Dave -
Hmm... I've been thinking about this before posting and although at the moment it would seem a really good plan and everyone's going to say 'yeah! wicked! I'd come loads...' by the time spring comes around we have a country full of wicked natural riding and architecture which would mean that for most of the year it would be a total dead end (IMO of course). To work it would either need to be a) a permanent outdoor facility requiring no staffing and be all weather (like that one in Spain) b ) a (most likely small) annex to a permanent indoor skatepark or c) we would need to have winters that last 9 months making riding outdoors impossible! Reading that over seems very pessimistic but I don't want you to stick a load of money into something without sussing it out first... Dave

That's just stupid. I think it was 2 or 3 years ago that Martin Lampkin made a conscious effort to make the sections at the Sheffield Trial lower because of people getting injured the year before... And now Toulouse are making the riders do that?! I can't believe what they're managing to do but if anything went wrong on those high sections you're well and truly fooked. Mad.

I managed not to have a MySpace or Bebo account for a long time then eventually gave in and signed up to Bebo. It has been good to get in touch with a load of school friends I hadn't heard from in like 6 years but I admit it is a waste of space and the novelty soon wears off! Anyway, mines at echo-trials.bebo.com without much exciting on there... Dave

Wouldn't have happened if he wasn't such a nonce wearing his little sisters jeans... I bet his face was a mess after that though. One of my mates once had his forks snap on his orange O2 jumping down like 4 steps. He didn't have time to put his hands out to break his fall and what a state he ended up! Got him into MBUK though!! It doesn't matter even if the alarm does go off...provided you don't have a knife or anything on you! Every time I go through the sensor the alarm goes off, whether it's my watch or belt or what I don't know but I've come to expect it. They just do a quick pat down and check your shoes. So short answer: No problem at all.

Right handed, right footed to kick a ball but also ride right foot forwards and Sidehop to the left... To throw something else in when I'm on the back wheel I prefer to turn to the left (anticlockwise from above). Dave

And he had the cheek to slag off all the riders these days who wear chav trousers and pixie boots in MBUK?!! Heheh. I'm proud to say I have never worn lycra for trials and never will...unless someone's willing to pay me silly amounts of money! Dave

Indoor/covered Trials Areas In Hampshire?
monkeyseemonkeydo replied to Phil H's topic in Trials Chat
I'm thinking what you're thinking... How feasable is it? Do the BMXer's use it already?... Very interesting... Dave -
Mwahaha, proper old skool!! Aye, tis Ashton and Hawyes looking oh so cool. I think that video was the reason I got a Troy Lee Designs Edge helmet (the one Martyn's wearing)... I still have it if anyone fancies that old skool look!! Dave

Lol, ah thems were the days!! MBUK wound me up so bad when the issue with it in came out and I was mentioned once with no riding pics at all... It was all 'Chris Ackrigg this... Ed Tongue that...'! I also remember being a bit $hitty to Chris Ratcliff at a National the next year as well regarding MBUK not taking pictures of 20" trials... Sorry Chris!! Dave

Not 100% what you mean... whereabouts was I doing it? I think one of the important things with short run up moves is getting the timing right so you get the power from your good foot exactly when you need it to make the up. Also with short run up stuff, body movement becomes more important. Because you don't have the momentum from a roll in you tend to have to actually muscle the bike a bit more to get it where you want it. Not sure if that's helped much but ah well!! Dave

This topic scares me... I'm looking at most of these threads thinking 'that's not old skool'! As an example poeple are mentioning Mavic 517 rims and Echo ES4's- That's new skool baby! I'd already been riding 4 or 5 years when that stuff came out!! Old skool to me is a 16" GT backwoods frame with triple chainset, STX-RC V-brakes and club roost bars. Bash rings hadn't reached the mainstream (Nearly wet myself when I saw the 32T Blackspire Ring God in a magazine) and Magura's still cost over £250 for a set...

Where abouts are those pics of Stuart taken with the barrels and platforms? Last time I saw that stuff it was in Fraz Milloys back garden about 5 years ago!! Good to see it's still getting used Dave

Just wanted to thank everyone involved today for all their efforts to make what was an awesome day! Very well put on and run with some excellent sections. Dave

To be honest, whenever I watch Rodney skate, it just makes me think how crap everyone else is these days! Ok so Ryan Sheckler can land virtually everything he tries but he's only doing the same stuff people have been doing for years. Rodney is THE man and deserves all the respect in the world! For anyone who's never seen an interview with the guy, he's also such an amazing character... really intelligent almost to a fault. Kinda reminds me of Ayrton Senna- very deep guy. Truly amazing

It's usually done at the manufacturers in the form of 'type approval' but certainly can be done afterwards (or at least the routes are there). It's the way that kit cars and custom bikes are made road legal- via either the SVA test for cars or MSVA for bikes. They check everything on their checklist which takes in virtually all parts of the bike. As said before, it could be done (assuming road legal tires could be sourced from monkeybikes or whatever) but would involve silly amounts of time and just wouldn't be worth it!!

Bikes do ease congestion... crazy!
