  1. The teeth certainly look a bit on the puny side... and why only 2 'pawls'? Looks like you could squeeze 3 in quite happily or even 4. I don't think the spring is what makes the hub 'lock' though- the 'pawl' type things doesn't actually rotate as with normal hub systems, it rides up the ramp and when the rider puts pressure on the drive the teeth will interlock and be pulled more tightly together. The spring is simply to keep the teeth in loose contact while freewheeling until power is required. That's the way I can see it working. Edit: and yeah, you'd want the drive ring/pawls to be steel rather than Ti.
  2. Reminds me of a well known Olde English saying:
  3. It's only the 2.2" as well... not sure if the 2.4" has a bigger air volume or if it's just a bit wider. I tried running a 2.5" Maxxis High Roller on the back and the DMR on the front the other day and it made the bike feel heavy and slow to accelerate so changed back.
  4. Could easily be stress related considering the position you're in at the moment... Go see your doc.
  5. You two are nasty... in a funny kind of nasty way...
  6. Just as a note for Mike and Onza, any chance of updating the Supercycles site? It's been like that for as long as I can remember and is awkward to navigate and a lot of stuff doesn't even seem to be on there. The actual Onza site itself is even worse... I mean the team page hasn't been updated since 2002 for jebus' sake! Online presence means quite a bit these days (especially in trials it seems) and if you're trying to improve people's perceptions of the company and open up to a wider following, that would make a big difference in my opinion.
  7. If you ride streety type stuff you won't be disappointed... Yet it's also really nice to backwheel and comfortable sidehopping 45"+. Best of both worlds I reckon! Proof if proof be needed- no tap, just a pedal up to back. Picture courtesy of Dan Campbell
  8. Really like it. To be honest, I think the Federal is even more out of the way than the Pashley one was. It's certainly lower and with rounder corners. Possibly narrower too. I've yet to catch my troos on the seat like I did a few times on the Pashley. Ao yeah, go for it!
  9. Bad idea. Will be silly expensive to get one made properly and if it's a reasonable price it'll just snap because there won't have been any time or thought gone into it. If you want a carbon lever blade, buy a hope one or speak very nicely to Dave@TrialTech and convince him it would be worth his while to make a few thousand pieces of a component that already exists in the marketplace...
  10. I don't think Tomm was insinuating the guy was lying... Finish this sentence: "Liar liar, pants..."
  11. I'm surprised how many people seem to be running FSA Pigs in the first place... A bit overkill for a trials bike aren't they?!
  12. Sweet pics as ever Ads! I don't believe Stan and Ali are taking the time to mod their tyres like that... You boys have too much time on your hands!! Real commitment . Good to see Phil out and about too, riding like a beast as always!
  13. First Hampshire comp at Hut Hill near Southampton next Sunday. Heheh. That could almost be a quote from <insert funny Will Ferrell movie title here>.
  14. There's a difference between friction creating enough heat to cause a material to combust and just 'wearing' a hole in clothes. There weren't scorch marks round the holes were there?! Yeah, but I've never seen Fatty Mears start a fire using only chinese burns and kindling...
  15. Lol at (with?) Dr. Nick... no change there then! He's 55 years old though... my bet is that someone threw a lit cigarette at him as he rode past and the lycra set light... Pretty certain it would be completely impossible to set alight to yourself by cycling. Maybe that's one for brainiacs though.
  16. Are 6 decimal places really necessary?!! Not overly aesthetically pleasing to me but with cups and a couple of bearings I dare say it'll do the job of a headset quite well. I take it the production ones will use a countersunk top cap bolt... Looks totally out of place as it is in the CAD pics with the socket./cap head. Some laser etching may be in order too. Edit: Website says price is around 100 Euro's so guessing about £85 in the UK?
  17. Was thinking of maybe making the setup cleaner by using the 'wedge mod' on the post but I think it would be too much hassle and the gains (if any) wouldn't be worth bothering with so will just minimise what I've got. And OBM, yes the tube is ovalised but I don't think I'll go as far as drilling it... unless I can find the perfect size cutter in the wind tunnel of course in which case it would be rude not to
  18. It's all about a hammer and screwdriver hehe. Don't think I'll be coming anymore.
  19. Weather looks pretty crap on Sunday so might just ride Southampton tomorrow instead...
