  1. I've seen it with my own eyes in Kenya and I still don't understand how he faked it if he did... As a qualified aeospace engineer (rocket scientist to Derf) and hopefully soon to be Doctor of Engineering, I'm a secret believer in the coriolis effect in draining sinks...
  2. To be honest I'm happy switching between both. When designing something or at work I always use mm/m's. However, if I need someone to cut something down or a rough idea of what's required I'll occasionally jump in to inches. And anything bike related is always inches... unless it's stem bar clamp size or BB axle width etc... Nothing wrong with chopping and changing!
  3. If you look at the lever from the front of the bike, you should be able to see where the blade pivots about. The holes in the blade can flex and eventually crack and you should be able to see this if you have a look . Edit:
  4. Might be worth checking that the lever blade isn't cracked at the pivot point... Marta levers design kind of promotes that if not looked after or modified.
  5. They were released years ago. Link. Trialtech carbon spacers for the win
  6. I find it wierd that anyone can name their shoes like that... I have pair of brown and cream ones, a pair of black and white ones... some black ones... and a few more but the descriptions don't get much better!
  7. Back when Ian rode, we didn't have these new fangled 'video cameras' and everyone was on dial up so they didn't tend to make it online that often! Great to see Ian getting back into riding... he's obviously doing all right for himself going straight in with one seriously pimp Boxx! Looks good
  8. Should I be worried by that post?
  9. Big shipment has just been delivered and Tarty should have it up soon. If you know what you want you'll be able to give TB a ring though and they'll sort you out Fair enough. Most frames I've had only had roughly 7mm of usable thread before the bolt bottomed out on the tube. As you say though, frames obviously differ
  10. But how many frames have a full 10mm of tapped mounting hole to use? Not many. In which case, if it's 20mm which is about perfect or 25mm which you'll have to cut down, I'd go with the former...
  11. Nope. He 99.9999% certainly doesn't make his bolts. He'll get them from the cheapest/most reliable source that he can find. That however may mean that the tolerances aren't as tight as they should be but I'd have thought an M5 bolt is pretty much an M5 bolt... Oh, and Nath- just another reason to run a rear disc
  12. Is Danny Mac actually on T-F?
  13. I'll take this one if that's ok... It is white. It's just in shadow. There's also a small 'bumper' under the nose which is also white. The lump is a slotted rubber flap, which allows access to the bolt beneath it which attaches the seat to the post. The logo says 'Pivotal' and is for the patented 'pivotal' design which Macneil produced a couple of years back and own the rights to. Hope that answers your questions Pics: Whiteness Grey bit Edit: Also, here's a pic from underneath the seat for anyone who's unfamiliar with the pivotal system. Minimalist, functional, sweeet!
  14. Ah, but your teeth don't if you use a Deore...
  15. How do you know that? Was it because of the video's comment: "from EARTHED III Europa"?
  16. Old old old old old. But really good Think it was posted in the brakeless vid thread a couple of months back. I'd never seen it before that though os there you go.
  17. Couple from when a good friend (and uni supervisor) was killed Kitesurfing last year... Blink 182 'I miss you' was played a lot around that time and one which isn't really a sentimental track but something I'll never forget is 50 Cent 'What Up Gangsta' which was played at his funeral while everyone walked out past his coffin (complete with kite surfing board on top), not because he or his wife liked it, purely to catch people off guard and put a smile on peoples faces. Can't watch Edwin's part in Can I Eat? now without thinking of Charlie
  18. I'd really like to see my shin bone without any flesh on it... I reckon if someone from Time Team looked at it in a few hundred years time they'd conclude I was victim to some nasty form of torture. They've really taken a thrashing over the years!
  19. Yeah but why not?! It's still a trials bike... Nowt wrong with a bit of dirty deng.
  20. I think I'm more 'comfortable' on my Inspired than any other trials bike I've ever had. For whatever reason, it just allows me to do everything I want, from 45+" pop manuals, 50" odd backwheels and straight up to fronts, 45+" sidehops etc as well as wallrides, spins and anything else you care to throw at it. Plus it's one sexy mofo of a frame! Set up wise, it's up to you really, I'm running an ENO FFW setup (controversial!) singlespeed with a shortish stem and hi rise bars, Echo Control forks etc and find it perfect for me. Other more fashion victim types () will try and avoid deng like the plague and stick to conventional Profile/Hope hub setups with middleburns and the like. Do what you want and enjoy it, because believe me, you will!!
  21. Always kept mine in my room, except when I knew there were going to be room inspections. Never had any hassle, just had to be a little careful hauling it up and down the stairs. Another option is to keep the wheels off when in your room and if anyone moans just say you're fixing it or whatever. Know people who did that but then stored the whole lot in their wardrobe too... Be wary of bike 'cages' and the liek at Unis- a few times while I was an undergrad professional criminals just cut holes out of the cage, cut the locks and knicked thousands of pounds worth of bikes. Not good.
  22. Thanks Looks like it might be a preproduction/random booster/being run upside down to how the designer originally intended... pic from Henbikes:
  23. If you look at your brake under pressure though, without a booster the brake kind of pivots about the frame mounts, i.e. frame flexes outwards but also the bolts can flex to allow the whole cyclinders to rotate slightly about the mounting point. By putting the booster so it 'sandwiches' the cylinders with the frame, you'll help reduce both frame and bolt flex more efficiently. That's how I've always thought of it anyway.
  24. Come on, it wasn't exactly the worlds greatest 'Trials Chat' thread in the first place was it? It would be vaguely acceptable in random small questions but still unecessary as it's been answered many times over anyway. Meh. In.
