I was disappointed they spent so long talking through the wiring stuff (that they pretty much covered last time out) and then just fast forwarded through all that lovely design, turning, machining etc. It would've been good to hear what they were trying to acheive and then how they were going to do it rather than just showing sped up footage of making the final thing with pretty much no explaination. Awesome stuff though.

Even though I'm obviously well into my bikes (got a roadie, a BMX, two trials, a FS MTB and now a dirt jump bike plus the kids who have a BMX, two MTBs and a trials bike, oh and the missus has a HT MTB too) I never bother with bricks and mortar shops, even well stocked 'proper' shops. The little local shops tend to know next to nothing, have generic stock at RRP and I wouldn't trust them to true a wheel and the bigger 'specialist' type places I've ever been to have limited stock of stuff at RRP and just don't appeal to me. I can find out what I need online and the price is almost guaranteed to be better online. On the Nike front they had a great team and put out some awesome videos but I've never been tempted to buy a pair of their shoes because it just doesn't feel right to me and my association with Nike is simply too far removed from anything skate or BMX oriented. I assume they're continuing the 6.0 'brand' just killing the BMX team?

In my day you wouldn't drill the rim join 'cos that'd be silly. Bloody youngsters.
-
Am I right in thinking that that's the rim join I can also see in the picture where the valve is? I always thought they sat opposite one another on rims (i.e. diametrically opposed)...
-
When I ran rim brakes I always set them up with no TPA adjustment used. My logic was that if you wind the pistons out to get your desired bite point then the whole set up inevitably becomes more flexy and less direct feeling.

I assumed it'd be simple as per your diagrams but I think that 'lighting rose' thing is more common than not in house circuits so be prepared! You're right that it indicates a series of lights but they're in different rooms so the light in the bedroom doesn't go off when the bulb goes in the hall etc.

Its not always as easy as you think. I did our kitchen and bathroom light fittings last year and was astounded by how many wires were connected and confused by the way it was wired! It took me a few attempts, some googling and a good deal of swearing to get it working again!

Oops, so I accidentally a Calibre Astronut... Abused the Duke of Edinburgh discount to get 15% off and paid £2.95 for postage. Ordered just after 8pm last night and it was here about midday and I was at the local pump track and jumps about half 1! Quite impressive service to be fair. Will get some picks up soon but for the money it seems very good.

They really are godawful things aren't they?

You should give a guy called Clive Evans from Scale Engineering in Swanage a ring. It's not specifically something he's done before but he's had a lot of experience working on some serious bits of kit for big steel rolling mills where everything has to be incredibly accurately positioned and the forces involved are considerable... Can't guarantee he'll have the answer but I bet he'd have some useful thoughts.

Yeah I was wondering if it was a heart rate monitor but then trials isn't exactly the most cardio heavy sport in the world (though I guess that might change when you get to Jack's level!).
-
What is the thing he wears on his knee/leg?

I've never used a Fox or Reverb but have heard awful stories about the Rockshox and would never consider spending £300 on such a minor component, especially when the £90 BrandX does exactly the same job... The XL is my second Ascend (first one was just a mark 1 standard one with 125mm travel) but both have been absolutely spot on with no problems at all. I 3D printed a little bracket so the lever bolts on to the Matchmaker thing on my lever to clean up the cockpit but I honestly can't fault the Ascends.
-
I was quite proud of that at the time! I have now moved on to a BrandX Ascend XL though and it's most definitely superior!!

I thought Lewis might've gone against the orders (kinda) and let Bottas back on the last lap but to be honest it's probably in Bottas' interests to keep Mercedes sweet and play the part while Lewis is doing his thing. It's a shame but that's kinda what he's paid to do at the moment...

But they'll be able to see the accident on the insurance database jobbie when they carry out the CUE check. It should then come back as a non-fault accident or 'driver hit from behind' at least so you can argue it then... Agree that any claim, whether fault or not, will impact your premium but you'd like to think that a non-fault is less of an 'added risk' than an at-fault one...

Absolutely incredible riding. Most of that simply shouldn't be possible.

the joys of having a 4 year old and a 6 year old . I even know who R Willy is (though to be fair that's because of Nitro Circus)!

Have a look on Youtube. Basically you need to get a feel for spinning the thing using your arms (the flick you give the deck with your foot only helps things along, most of the work is done by your wrists/arms) with your feet still on the floor before attempting to do it on the move.

People fairly regularly ride there and there are a couple of locals but otherwise it's just a really good place to ride.

As Swoofty says this is bicycle trials but I used to have a 98 Beta mototrials and that looks good for the money. Top end's are nice and easy to sort out the top end on (probably 6 bolts, a circlip then you'll just need piston kit with rings and a new gasket and you should be good to go. If the bike's local to you see if you can see/hear it running and take someone along who knows something about engines or if possible trials bikes. Clutch bleed should be easy but there may be a reason it needs bled (leaking seals etc.) so worth asking a few questions... If you're mechanically minded and happy to get your hands a bit dirty then I dont think you can go far wrong provided it's a runner and the person you're buying it off hasn't either just knicked it or ragged it round a quarry and killed it.

Portland's only an hour away from you too. Some of the best natural trials in the South.
