No, he means the biiiiiiig gap that there are pics of Kenny doing near the Tate- there's one low level and one from right up top by the road. Kenny did it then Jack did it. Monster! -
*Shakes fist at Dave for getting my hopes up* From what I've heard I think the term 'off the hook' is going to come into play when it's released...

Hi, I'm on the blue Inspired with white forks wearing a camo piss pot. That's me on the far left in 'Gather', in the black and white '20090301_trialsday_46' one and I'm with Jack in 'South Bank'. Really nice pics though . Edit: That's also my front wheel on the right of the 'danny gap sequence' shot- I think I apologised to you for being in the way! -
To be fair, on any rail ride when you feel it's going wrong you jump off to the side and keep the bike with you and in that respect it's no different. However, it's if you lose the front wheel without notice and... yeah you wouldn't catch me doing that that high up! When's this video going to be out then?! Going to be stupidly good .

Woo! I made it into three and not a single one am I riding! :$ -
It's not really natural ability though, is it? Road cycling is basically 100% down to fitness which is basically 100% down to training, hard work and single mindedness. In your club event Chris beat you (and I imagine everyone else?) by a long way. In the Olympic cycling events the finishes can be literally hundredths of a second apart and in such circumstances every possible advantage available becomes very important. You wouldn't believe the amount of time, effort and money thrown at the British Cycling team by UK sport on Computational Fluid Dynamics and wind tunnel testing to develop not only the bikes themselves but the riding position, helmet design and clothing worn by the athletes. We're talking hundreds of thousands if not millions. And that's just for the aerodynamics. I imagine just as much if not more is spent on the training regime and diet research to enable them to perform at the absolute peak of their abilities. Of course it also helps if you're built like a brick outhouse like Hoy...

About the same as biketrials then.

You mean gay as in happy and merry, right?

There's also a big difference in the whole ethos behind BMX and trials. Take competitions as an example- BMX competitions are far more laid back 'jam' style things usually with all the riders congratulating each other for doing something good and having a laugh. Even at the biggest events like the X-Games they still (for the most part) just do their thing and although I'm sure they all take it really seriously they all seem to still be having fun and happy for each other if they get beaten. In trials it tends to be taken far more seriously, particularly once you get to National level comps. I know not all riders are the same but just seeing a couple of kids never smiling and being moaned at by their parents for messing up is enough to make me cringe at the sport. Street riding is obviously vastly different but just due to the way trials is ridden (traditionally anyway) the way riders approach riding tends to be fairly similar. As Mark said, whether that's down to bike design or rider mentality I don't know but it's just how trials has been for a long time. Don't know where I'm going with this.

Yes. The standard forks do tend to crack but even so £40 for a frame, headset and spare forks can't be bad.
-
What did you have- the Tensile or the Rohloff? Because they're quite different. The Tensile is almost identical to the Atomz and Try-All ones but the Rohloff is a different design completely. Kinda tempted by a Rohloff at the moment. .. Do people go for the standard one or the shorter DH version?
-
Yeah but if you think about it... take a load of trials riders and get them to ride Brighton for a few weeks and you'd end up with gap, gap, tap, sidehop, rolling gap, tap etc. Stick Danny Mac in the mix and you'd spice it up though but then he's not the compy pro you're talking about. I just don't think trials (i.e. traditional trials) really lends itself to being a spectator sport. However, I understand that Danny Mac is making a DVD at the moment with the help of a pro BMXer so that could be something special!

Doesn't look very closed to me... Where did your info come from?

Arrrrrr.

Did someone not snap a spring soon after purchase? I'm after a new tensioner too as I managed to snap off my Kingz on the London ride without noticing (thought it had just slipped) and the main bit is now sitting in a gutter on one of the bridges over the Thames. Would be tempted by a Rohloff but they are a bit pricey...

You're right that it's old. My guess would be early 90's... 93,94 maybe? The silver allen bolt is the bleed screw. I *think* the flat head screwdriver bolt will adjust the pad position but I never ran this kind of Maggy so can't be sure.

Did you actually look at the picture?

And 24" . -
Pretty sure they're different geometries, judging by the White/Silver Sky 20's on Tarty.

Be Part Of The Biggest Trials Street Ride

I love Danny Mac... He's my hero. Except for blatantly copying my bike's colour scheme of course... A fully beawesome day and thanks to Jack for making it happen. I honestly wasn't convinced that the likes of Vincent, Kenny and Wesley would show but they did and it was amazing. Kenny seems like such a nice guy too! Don't believe they came over this morning and are flying back this evening!- Properly committed! Great day ! Oh yeah, nearly forgot that strange, strange boy Rowan who's just odd for riding brakeless. Really well. Dave (on the blue Inspired with white forks but who wasn't Danny Mac) -

With a bit of luck should be there with Andy Green tomorrow. Being brave and driving to London for the first time... Yay me. -
Curtis being a reference to the bike manufacturer or just happy coincidence?
-
Ah well, looks like I'm going to the dark side and riding BMX in Ferndown instead.

Sooo... is anyone actually riding?
