  1. Just changed a few bits on the Inspired and I've got to say it's now about as perfect as I can make it. Changed to TrialTech drilled rims front and rear (going to keep the rear smooth for the time being to see how I get on), rear TrialTech hub with 13T Try All sprocket which means I can keep my old wheel ground for comps with a Kenda Blue Groove tyre and 14T sprocket. Also gone to an Atomz chain tensioner and now running the TrialTech Lite chain, having used Kool's for the past 8 or 9 years. Finally I've got the awesome Phat Pads on with pimp blue anodised backings which seem, from first impressions on the smooth rim, to be just as incredible as with a grind. Big thanks to Adam at Tarty and Dave at TrialTech for helping me out with all the bits . Anyway, comments welcome but suffice to say I love it!
  2. Looks like your chainring/bashguard has been eating away at that for a long time...?
  3. Some call him a beawesome hamster. Others say he has supreme kung fu skills and is 1/16th wolverine. All we know is; he used to be known as monkeyseemonkeydo.
  4. I think that if the chain's too loose it can cause a chain to snap; when gapping if you stamp down on the pedals you'll take up the slack in the chain meaning that when your hub/freewheel engages there will be more force going through the chain than if there was zero slack. There's a lot to be said for preloading of course. I personally have always run my chains pretty tight, particularly on mod, but obviously not too tight so as to cause damage to bearings. There has been talk of the Koxx guys running slack chains for certain reasons which I'm not 100% convinced by but then I guess they know their stuff! Also, the half inch thing is for motorbikes more than anything, and certainly not for trials pushbikes I'd have thought.
  5. I tend not to bother with taps (can't do them very well to be honest but coming mainly from 20" I've never really needed them). I mainly pedal up to back, or both for certain height stuff but can get a bit higher by bunnyhopping instead. As I've said before, I'm more than comfortable on my Inspired compared to any other bike I've owned. At Pompy on Sunday I pedalled up to both (might've been easier with a bunny but meh) on one of the big blocks that I've tried many times before on both 20" and 26" and never made. Sailed up it on the 24"!
  6. You're best bet are either Moto RT's or Maxxis Holy Rollers. Tioga Comp III's are really light and you might get away with running on the front (John Shrewsbury and myself have both run them before on the fronts) but they are quite narrow (don't believe the 2.125" label) and low air volume too.
  7. Now we really are talking criminal damage. And generally deserving an ASBO... At the end of the day, the people that put the 'clamp' on were just following procedure and doing their job. It sucks and if you can get away with getting your bike back without causing excessive damage (or getting caught) go for it, but being an arse and spray painting crap everywhere is just stupid.
  8. I really don't think that's a bad thing to be honest!
  9. Yeah, sounds good . I think the Diggers are a bit more draggy but obviously a bit more grippy in some situations. Don't think I'll be changing from the RT's for a while though.
  10. I'm sooo happy that I made that big up on that block at Spice- tried that so many times on both 20" and 26" and never made it but flew up it on the Danny Mac machine! . Andy's got a pic of it so hopefully will see them sometime. Edit: That's the puppy .
  11. Is it like a proper chain? If so, cut it right by the lock so they're only losing a link or two so you're not really even destroying anything.
  12. Good luck. No CCTV cameras are there? Probably best not to wear a pink leotard too, may draw attention.
  13. Depends what you're going to use the bike for really. I'm using the RT's, 2.4 rear and 2.2 front and really like them- fats rolling and grippy. The DMR tyres don't have much in the way of puncture protection though so you'll need to run them relatively hard tp prevent flats.
  14. Riiiiight... You gave your bike a boys name? I bet Liam loved a good hard ride every so often, didn't he? Oooh, suits you.
  15. Nathie Wafie... you really need to sort out your riding face! It's really quite disturbing! Edit: Is that Danny Mac in the last pic?! Thought I'd get that in before you barsterds start...
  16. Really good pics by the way. Some of those steps look really dodgy though! Crazy things these guys are doing! Looks like the outcome of the 'Ouch' pic could've been pretty damn nasty too!
  17. Hehe, you're probably right. With regards road bikes, I got in trouble when I did my CBT (having never ridden a motorbike before) for covering the brake and clutch with one finger... and then for using my knees to balance! I now tend to use four fingers most of the time but do regularly use two fingers on the front brake when I know I'm just scrubbing a bit of speed rather than stopping.
