First up, very few frames have 2mm tubes these days from what I unerstand. The Inspired has a 2mm downtube and that tube is hench. You'll probably find that Rockman frame has ~1mm tubing on the downtube and possibly even less in the centre if it's butted. Secondly, unless you're some freakishly weak starving child from Africa I'm pretty sure you could completely demolish a frame with a hammer, especially using 'all your possible strength'. Round tube's aren't that strong if you try and crush them (coke can as an example which some modern lightweight frames aren't far from) so a hammer blow is going to muller a tube. The protector will dissipate the force of an impact (within reason) along the length of the protector and will go a long way to saving your frame. Add in the 43g mass and pimp carbon-ness and I don't really see the joke! Edit: *cough*

This week I have mostly been hating the time stamp on the Board Index being in millenia since the big bang, or possibly decimalised time in minutes since the birth of Elvis, I forget, and also the button at the bottom of the reply page which should open up the complete thread in a new window, but doesn't seem to... Otherwise looks good. Not that I can remember what it used to be like of course . Please go back, reload the form, and try again." when I try and remove the notification thing on the right of the Board Index page... Edit 2: Also can't multi quote before replying. I think he just did... for the reasons he mentioned. And from what I've heard and seen (yet to get the balls to actually try this whole brakeless thing) he's right. Just by improving wheel placement (and of course the understanding of where the wheel is beneath you) and overall control of the bike, I don't really see how you can refute that it' will improve your control when going back to a braked bike.
