  1. BMXers are all just Danny Mac wannabes anyway.
  2. Yeah, noticed it earlier. Dunno if it's been like that since the clocks changed or if it's more recent...
  3. Preferably in skinny jeans with your arse hanging out the top . Oh, wait, that can't be right...
  4. Please stop using that (non)word!
  5. Especially if you're not going to use a tube at the lever- the fluid will dribble everywhere so be sure to keep it well away from your rims and pads (or disc/pads if running a front disc).
  6. Ideally, because the clamps are partly counter-bored for the screw heads, you'd be better running spacer tubes. You could go straight into the clamps but you might end up deforming the clamps as there isn't really a mating face to clamp onto. If you do go without spacers try and get some slightly longer screws to reduce the likelihood of stripping the brake mount.
  7. It depends on the comp really. 99% of Hampshire comps were more about having fun and riding than winning. There are occasionally those who take it too seriously but I'm sure that's the same with most amateur sports. Obviously when you get to National, International comps etc. everyone's there taking it seriously but for the more localised club events the majority will be there for fun. Anyway, it's all about Fluffy Bunny points at comps
  8. It depends on the booster. Is it a 4 bolt or 2 bolt booster you have? Usually you use spacers between the clamps on the booster but it depends on the setup.
  9. Learn to read before coming in making stupid comments (Ozzy, not Mark...) . A ramp isn't really an obstacle, it's, well, a ramp.
  10. Yes... So someone who gets up/over/down an obstacle or section without putting a foot down but with added style, throwing in an X-up or doing a 360 out (while on a trials bike) isn't riding trials? Mmmkay.
  11. Define being a 'real footballer'... Kids going out for a kickabout is 'playing football' (practising techniques etc.) and if they also play for a team (at any level) they're still playing football, with a competitive element. Exactly the same with trials really, I go out 'for a bounce' just messing about and practising techniques, I used to compete (don't anymore) but I still call myself a trials rider, what else could I be bouncing around on a silly low geared bike?! Your (lack of) logic is really quite amazing.
  12. by Dave M aged 28 and 11.5/12ths Looks slightly odd with those piercing eyes I must say.
  13. Yeah, the cap is there to hold the rubber diaphragm in place and 'seal' the system. A little flat plate with the four holes in will do the job.
  14. You shouldn't need to take the blade off, just back the TPA back off all the way. You shouldn't have to bleed the brake but you will have to set it up properly at the wheel. That's assuming it is maxed out of course.
  15. Only if you can find one second hand. Due to varying piston sizes and fittings not every lever body will fit (and work satisfactorily).
  16. They haven't been around for years. Apart from tracking one down second hand you could try getting in touch with the Magura importers... Used to be Venhill but not sure if it still is.
  17. I use a technique kinda like doing a pedal up but instead of using the power to go up, it accelerates you forwards. I roll in with my good foot down. Speed depends on the size of the gap but to start with just roll in with walking pace or thereabouts. The trickiest bit is getting the timing right to know when to start pedalling. When I'm at the right distance from the edge (just before my front wheel gets there I think) I start pedalling to bring the front end up and then as the rear wheel is just getting to the edge my good foot is just coming in to give the power kick. The cranks have done 3/4 of a turn and as the power kick comes in I jump forwards and up to allow the bike to accelerate across the gap. Edit: 0:48
  18. If you can take a whole link out of the chain do that anyway but otherwise, as Scott says, a two wheel tensioner would be the better solution.
