  1. I'm sorry Ali, but it's ok 'cos the kitten didn't really die in the pit of death and is back for a hug:
  2. MEGABUMP. Where have these pics gone? Wanted to link to them in Sayshell's thread...
  3. I find Ali far more negative than Mark usually, but I know he's been trying to correct that. Kittens in the pit of death can't help matters though... that poor kitten .
  4. Personally I'd go for the DMR if you think you're likely to have some fun on it as well as commuting. Probably worth getting one with a cassette and derraileur (how the f**k do you spell that word?) though to make life easier for the commute. I used to ride 7 miles on my trials bike to get to a riding spot so doing 5 miles on a DMR (get a QR seat clamp too) won't be a problem and will most likely be much more fun (if a bit more hard work) than a road bike or gay ass luminous pink fixie.
  5. I ran it for about 6 months before completely changing from the steel hardtail singlespeed to a Commencal Meta full susser (with gears). Was definitely nice not to have to think about gears and derraileurs etc and I think I did stick with the 18t while I was singlespeed. Go for it and see how you get on!
  6. 32:16 is the 'accepted' ratio. When I went singlespeed I think I ended up running 32:18 to start with though.
  7. I'd say your version of a street mod (still a little odd looking but far less so!) would be far more saleable than this (to both BMXers and trials folks alike).
  8. I have a feeling that might mean excluding pretty much everyone I'm afraid. It works for you and that's great but you're the only person I've ever seen riding the way you do...
  9. It's not difficult but can be a bit fiddly. Keep track of where the parts go and the order they come off and make sure you catch all the bearings if it's a loose-ball type.
  10. Impossible to say without more info. Sounds like something's either moved or broken inside the mechanism. If it has a lockring accessible it's probably worth investigating the problem before getting a new one. Note that the lockring is most likely a left hand (opposite) thread and there may be a whole bunch of loose ball bearings in there so be prepared!
  11. What freewheel? I've killed ACS Claws in a few days before but 'proper' freewheels should last ages.
  12. Damn straight! That orange and blue looked hideous compared to this! Good work!
  13. Check out some of the Antitron vids on Youtube, should explain the design. I'm with Laurence on this one. Clifford, you're talking like you're going to go into production with it on a small scale- is that the case?

Exactly. Brother in law is a dairy farmer and the cows have it pretty good. The farmers are paid more for good quality milk with lower 'cell counts' (or summink) which means it's really in the farmers interest to keep the cows, fit and healthy. Good for you. Have a happy cow.
  15. Paperclips can be substituted for pritt stick and paper folded over the open ends. With the weight in the middle it may struggle but depends how far you can make the paper stretch. If you could enclose the section to make it box section (or add further longitudinals in conjunction with the two lateral beams it may work better too.
  16. Tubes. It's all about tightly rolled tubes. And triangulation. It's all about tubes and triangulation. And thinking it through first. It's all about tubes and triangulation and thinking it through first. Quite like this for a simple solution but doing it over a larger gap with overlaps may be tricky: Also quite nice with the reinforcements at the corners. What about using some water together with some dissolved pritt stick and shredded paper as well to create some kind of paper mache type reinforcements...

    Milk

I think you'll find that 1000 years ago our life expectancy was so low that the majority of people simply died before cancer was an issue or died of cancer but without people understanding the cause. Have we evolved (both physically and medically) too quickly for our bodies to keep up? By living longer our cells are now struggling to resist mutations? Am I just stabbing in the dark? Should I stop asking questions? Dunno.

    Milk

Sorry to hear that. I still don't think there can be much in it otherwise milk would have to carry health warnings like they have on cigarette packets! I'd say in this day and age there must be a massively stronger chance of cancer being caused by all the electronic signals flying round frying us than any foodstuffs. We had a guy in work the other day who used to work researching electronic/radio emissions from electronic devices to determine interference problems. Having seen the results he now advises that no one uses a mobile phone directly next to their head and that you really shouldn't put your mobile in your pocket... a world of sterile men in 100 years anyone?!

I swear all of those sorts of 'research' claims are complete and utter bullshit. I imagine if I were so inclined I could prove that driving a green car increases your liklihood of getting cancer and that people who don't cut their nails as often also have a higher chance of getting cancer. These studies have no possible way of limiting someone's diet or lifestyle in order to only provide data on one item.
  20. They use a threaded topcap so don't need a starnut. If you really must use one, the Tarty website states that the extra small version (18mm) is perfect for Trialtech forks.
  21. If I could've found a Fox Race lycra short sleeve top that matched I'd have had it! JJ Gregorowicz in Revolution was my hero...
