Wow some people think the same about brakes as me, I despise noisy and squeaky brakes! I have been trying for years to make my brake quiet, without much success. I ride quite a bit on my own at night and a loud brake just draws so much unwanted attention to you. Plus you loose the enjoyment gained from being smooth and flowing if your brake is always loud, and manuals are a nightmare! I've just bought CNC backings. Its hard to say if they are louder than normal backings as I have different pads to before, but they are extremely noisy! I've also tried different boosters which never had much affect I found. I'm currently using a little bit of tape wrapped around the brake backing to try and reduce the wobble between the pad and holder. Also going to try a tiny bit of copper grease between piston and backing. I've done this before and both methods do help, but never stop the noise completely. I have been thinking about spraying expanding foam in the tubes of the frame to help deaden the vibrations. This is a last resort but hopefully it would reduce the volume quite a bit. All I know is I have to make my brake quiter, Phat pads are super grippy but my god are they loud!

We were talking about that today, please don't think that was me being old and sensible. I was mainly pissed off cuz I thought it was MY gas and then I wouldn't be able to cook food all week. The fires and exploding tins were probably the funniest moments of the holiday
-
Haha fook off I'm not that old! If I did go I'd wanna try have more fun, last year was a bit too sensible for my likings. Yeah I'm fine was nothing major, just now very poor
-
Sounds about right you dirty b*****d . But seriously now, I wouldn't want to go more than 2 days without showering if riding all day. Not that I should be bothered as I probably won't be going!
-
Yeah its probably me just being pessimistic, but I would feel better if I booked the campsite.
-
To those who don't remember last year, the facilities were all closed for the first few days. I think we had water, but the toilets, showers and sinks were all closed. The french guy running the Koxx camp managed to get them open for us eventually, but we had all already 'booked' our camping via Fred at Koxx UK. If Koxx are not getting involved with the camping this year then we obviously won't get any of the camping facilities open. No doubt we will probably get thrown off the site as well if we just set up camp without booking. We managed to use the showers and toilets in the dorms, but I imagine if there's a big group of us trying to do this we might get noticed... I want to go but don't know if I'll be able to. I crashed my car and am possibly getting my license revoked, so will have to get a lift. Not sure if I will be able to afford it either, although hopefully if we did book the campsite it wouldn't cost that much?

3 mint vids. Beasty riding from Pauly!
-
Literally, just got home . Tim, Mike and Max will be another 10 minutes before they get home. But so worth it , had a pretty cool ride. Didn't do tonnes of riding but did enough to keep me happy, Adamants ***.
-
Agreed . I ran the swampthing and digger combo, was sweet for trials and ok for the street. If your not too bothered about rear grip i'd get a longer lasting street tyre like the ones mike listed as Maxxis wear quick.
-
haha what a slacker, doesn't suprise me!
-
Sweet pics Chris, Aron is too good at street I think! Should have let me know I would have come up, gotta come up soon and see you and Matt
-
Nice pics, classic gurn from Dan . Video is in the making
-
If I could get away with it I would happily kill all the security guards and arsehole police officers in Worcester so I could RIDE IN PEACE
-
Single ply for the rear? No thanks, I'd have a 40/42 Hansventure everytime. They are super grippy and last amazingly well, way way longer than other Maxxis 42a tyres I've run (minion, high roller and swamp thing). I think a 40a minion or high roller is slightly grippier and probably better for comps, but for all round riding the hans is a million miles ahead in my book. I've already got through 2 and I like it so much I bought another 2 as spares when the current one wears out.

Oxford, Sunday The 27th, 11 @ Bronze Bull
Matt Burrows replied to The Duck's topic in Member Organised Rides
Yeah was a fun ride . A bit annoyed when I realised my forks were close to snapping so I couldn't ride properly, but it meant I got a fair bit of footage. I'll try and get a video made in the week -
Ben I love the last few vids of you on the 24". I hadn't seen them all before, so refreshing to watch compared to most vids these days
-
Fatmikes was absolutely appalling . Fell apart in literally an hour of riding in bristol and his spokes really weren't that tight!
-
Years ago, before the long bike revolution and Neil got springs implanted in his legs, he did compete. I saw him ride at Bracken rocks once on an old Pashley, and he was one of the best natural riders there. Didn't drop a single point all day, so some of you might be surprised if he did compete. I'm not saying he would be amazing and beat everyone, but lets be honest hes not exactly gonna be crap is he.

Nice vid Matt you've improved so much! I was impressed when you made the big sidehop by the river
-
Hello all, I've uploaded a couple of videos onto Youtube. The first one is a new vid I made from old footage of Fatmike. I had a fair amount of clips on my comp so thought I'd throw a video together. Listen to the commentary during Hop Idol it is amusing. The second vid is a short one I made aaages ago to learn how to use adobe before making my old video. Mainly of James Porter with clips of a few others from 2 rides in Bristol and Oxford. For anyone that hasn't seen I put my video on Youtube a few months ago, you can see that

Shipley Glen Biketrial Federation's Final Round
Matt Burrows replied to BikeTrial Federation's topic in Trials Chat
Woo I've been wanting to ride Shipley for years but never got round to going. I'll do my best to make this one -
Lol it is bigger than it looks! Don't think its quite 47" though cuz I've done it before. I think the wall down from there that Max tapped is about 47"?
-
Lol I really hope your joking Tris, that is about 38"
-
Haha you got a picture of me strato-dabbing up the huge concrete ledge on both laps, pretty much sums up my riding! Cheers for posting the pics up though, theres some good ones in there. FatMike took some at the end of the day of me and a few guys messing around which he will hopefully post up

I've got a Juicy 7, been running it for about 18 months. They are really nice brakes, and compared to a cable brake feel so much better. I haven't had any problems with mine in that time either so they are reliable, still feels as positive as when it was new. Only thing is they don't have as much bite as a BB7, which is a bit annoying for trials really. They are powerful but sometimes I am left wanting more bite for dodgy front wheel moves on rails etc. Thats using a 185mm rotor btw.l
