Well said Dave. No offence to you Kieran as you're probably a better rider than me, and this isn't aimed at you just a general observation. But it seems all you need to get sponsored these days is to do a few big sidehops and gaps. What is that going to add to the sport and its reputation/image? Although I'm guessing you just get a discount off retail price? Which I wouldn't really count as sponsorship anyway.

Nice vid Joe, always good to see something more than just TGS riding

I spent the best part of £2k in one order, although thankfully that wasn't my money! I've probably spent under £200 of my own money there, I try and keep my spending to a minimum these days. I do have 5 bikes at the moment though, of which the cheapest is worth about £700 and the best is worth over £2000. I've think I've easily spent over £10,000 on bikes and bits over the 11 or so years I've been riding . But I enjoy road riding/touring, time-trials, triathlons, cross country and trails all on top of my trials riding so its easy to spend money. Me and another multi discipline bike crazed fool often talk about what dream bikes we'd buy if we won the lottery. I'd easily have over 10 bikes worth between £2-4k, can keep dreaming

Over 10 years old.... and still impressive! Hans Ray is a legend, thats probably one of the best old school proper MTB trials vids I've seen

Errr whoops, forgot about this thread. Well it looks like I'm coming down and so is Max, still trying to get hold of Mike. We should be there before 12

And I thought I was slow with my Koxx days vid from last year Some good pics in there, a lot of editing and silly gurns though - makes trials look a bit gay when people pull faces like that

Correction: the rears are heavy. The fronts are actually really light for a properly grippy tyre, noticeably lighter than the single ply maxxis you can get. Awesome front tyres, and I'd recommend a Hansventure for the back - mine have lasted for ages.

Thursday?? Could probably get Fatmike to drive down with me and Max T?
-
Yeah that was pretty funny, Mike has to go really to speak for all us English guys who can't be bothered with french

OK... well... Just booked ferry for Me, Stedman, Fatmike and Max T. For the grand price of £9 each . Oh and I'm bringing a spade this year to build either ramp ups or jumps when we get bored of hopping.

No they will request applications in the newsletter, usually at the end of the year.

No its for any employee. When I was on the team a few of the other guys were from head office and the rest were part time youngsters. 1 guy only did 4 hours a week! All I did was send in my video with a letter saying what I was about and where I wanted to go.

How can I be sat here, at my computer, in the Midlands and not feel a thing?? Strapping Young Loud aren't that heavy surely

The BB7 is made by Avid? I've used Juicy 5s and 7s and a BB7 on various bikes. I'm guessing this is purely for trials use yeah? The Juicy 5 has little adjustment which can be a pain if you like your brake a certain way. I've used a Juicy 7 on my main trials bike for 2 years now. Its basically the same as the 5 with added adjustment. It has a great smooth and solid feel compared to a cable disc which I love. It definitely has less bite than a BB7 though. Not a lot, but it is noticeable when trying gaps to front on rails or benches where bite is everything. If you want to run dual disc for trials then I'd say go with the BB7

Err, I was pretty shocked to be honest! One was from a small woman in her 30s, and another was from an old frail woman . I was young, moody and foul mouthed at the time, so my eventual reply was just loudness and swear words. We were riding near a war memorial so should have expected it really (it is so damn good to ride though!)

Or jumped in your car and knocked it into reverse. Yeeeeah E-bravery makes me laugh. I consider myself a fairly average guy and wouldn't be too keen to get into a fight. All the people trying to act hard on here though are kids who really aren't big or hard, go figure? The guy sounds like a blatant psycho and I'm sorry to here he attacked you like that. I can understand how annoying it must be to have trials riders near your house though. Have some respect for others and their property and only ride where you aren't gonna bother anyone. In reply to the topic title: I've been minorly assaulted by a guy when riding near a kids nursery, had a bike stolen from me in Bristol, been physically threatened hundreds of times (mostly from Police or security guards I might add). And of course I get abuse almost daily from bitter and selfish people who'd prefer it if all young people were slaves. The best was being told we should be sent off to war to die from 3 separate people in Plymouth on one ride!

Hey Ryan, as you've never been to France I'll tell you a few things I've learnt. First of all the country, the land and the population spread are NOTHING like England! France covers almost 3 times the area of the whole of Britain, and the population density is less than half. The Uk is great for riding really- we have lots of coastal cities and natural, then we have national parks generally covered with riding spots, and then we have hundreds of towns and cities packed closely together all offering something to ride. And all connected by fast moving motorways. France is almost the opposite really. Lots of small towns and villages with hardly any riding. A few big cities spread far apart and tolls on most of the motorways. A lot of what you will see between Calais and Font will be flat, dull and boring, with the exception of Paris of course! Not to say there isn't some amazing riding to be had though. The mountain ranges in the south are epic compared to what you will see over here, but are a long way away and I'm not sure where are the best places to ride. Your best bet probably is Buthiers and Font. I've never ridden any of the rocks around Font but Buthiers is unreal, a really great riding spot. Its about 90 minutes from Paris as well which is well worth a visit. Paris, like a lot of big cities, has lines nearly everywhere you look. Most of the good spots are spread apart though so expect to ride a few miles. Apart from Paris though, I wouldn't expect great street riding unless you are willing to drive a lot. Le Harve is supposed to be good. Anyway I hope that helps and hope you have a good trip, you really should have just gone to Koxx days though! Its basically the same as what your doing just with a lot more people, only 4 weeks away now.

Hey Matija, its good to see you riding and on the forum! I liked the video, I see some English style in there, me and Mike taught you well
-
Err... you obviously didn't read my post about how they were locked for the first few days, before you, James and Phil arrived. Hopefully as long as somebody is booking camping we will be able to blag it. Most of the other campers didn't arrive until Thursday or Friday though last year.
-
Beau, I really hope you take that on board. It may feel like everyone is having a go at you and you might not want to listen, but Bongo is giving some really good advice there. I hope you are mature enough to recognise that and think about what he has said

Congratulations dude. I was on the squad for 2006 and they were really good to me. They didn't do it for 2007 so I was a bit annoyed when I saw the requests for applications, 2 weeks after I had resigned! Do you have any idea who the other guy is? If your as lucky as I was you will get a full bike and spares for the year. You will probably have to push them a lot for help and support though. They are busy with other projects and really didn't ask much of me. There were talks about doing demos which would have been awesome but it never happened. Oh and if I remember correctly, Carla is a pretty cute blonde in mid twentys

Joe, since when has 20 mins of riding translated straight into 20 minutes of video? Jamie meant a 20min editied video... -
I was trying to avoid getting involved but you asked for it, YOU ARE AN IDIOT. I have never heard so much irresponsible and plain ignorant tripe in all my life. I've seen your driving and was scared at your ignorance of the danger a car possesses. A tonne of fast moving metal is a seriously dangerous object! Everytime you drive your car you should be aware of this fact as you are responsible for making sure you don't make mistakes and harm others. This is a fact that all the youngsters seem to be missing? Yeah we have all driven too fast, but most of us have the responsibility to admit we were wrong when bad things happen and change our behaviour accordingly. I seriously believe the roads will be safer without you driving. I hope you get banned for a VERY long time, after which point hopefully you might have grown up a bit...
