Anywhere you can watch it online? Had a quick look but couldn't find it on torrent or ch4's website

Pike forks weigh a tonne, i'd avoid those if using for XC. Best bet is a second hand set of rockshox Rebas, should be able to get a decent set for around £150-200. They're great forks, lightweight, plush, loads of adjustment via the air spring. Very close to Fox Float performance but usually sell for quite a bit less. You can also adjust the travel between 80/100/120mm via switching some internal spacers. Just be careful to buy ones in good condition, avoid forks like these at all costs. ANY marks or damage to the stanchions is a very bad sign so try to get a set which haven't been used much. These forks here look perfect, I'd happily pay upto £180-200 for them.

Yeah thats what I was gonna suggest, you'll probably learn a lot trying to repair the other lever. The key to taking anything apart for the first time is to just go slowly and record how it all goes together. Do whatever you need to for it to make sense, take photos, draw diagrams etc to make it easier to understand. And if it does go all wrong we can always try to help.

Those Rips look ridiculously good for £320! I think the range as a whole looks brilliant and is a huge step up in my eyes, not one bad bike. I can see these selling well and bringing new people into trials

Did you read what everyone said before about cleaning the brake . It sounds like you've had oil and water mixing inside the brake and gunking it up, thats what the black stuff was. My bet is the brake will go shit again after a few weeks. If that happens, you need to clean and flush it properly and rebleed. I know bike maintainance can be frustrating when you just want to ride, but a little time, patience and understanding will go a long way! Also let us know when your next going to the bog and someone off here can come and wipe your ass for you

Its the first time you've bled your brake yes? Was it bled with water before or oil? If it was bled with oil you need to thoroughly clean and flush the brake before bleeding it with water. The advice given above is on the right track, but don't put oil inside the lever where the piston sits or it will mix with water when you bleed the brake. Just put a little lube around the piston seal and check it moves freely. The best stuff to use is silicon lube, but nobody on here bothers with that and just uses any old grease/oil/wd40

Disconnect the cable, do the calipers feel stiff or sticky? Is the lever pivot smooth? If both of these are ok then there is only one thing else it can be. You do have a linear BMX brake cable yeah? If your using a standard brake cable outer with sharp bends then it will feel horrible.

Yes your right, keep the spacers in. Avid's CPS sytem allows them to get away with lower tolerances during manufacture. If you take the spacers out you will probably find the brake is a long way from being set-up square even when the disc mount is faced! As for your current issue, it looks like the pads are way too high on the rotor, something definitely isn't right! It's either the adaptor (wrong size/label or badly manufactured), the incorrect rotor for the adaptor or probably the most likely, the disc mount on the forks being on the piss. The only way to check the disc mount is to either try another disc brake/fork and see if the issue goes away, or take the forks to your nearest bike shop with a Hope disc mount facing tool and ask them to check it. As for aligning the caliper, i'd say ignore avids methods and just set it up by eye. It is a fiddly job that will take a few attempts and some patience. It helps alot if you put a sheet of paper or something white behind the caliper when you are looking throught it. Start with both bolts loose and the pads wound out, look down through the caliper between the pads and move the caliper until it is aligned. Now hold the caliper in position while you alternately tighten the bolts. You may find the caliper tries to twist when you do up the bolts, but with a few attempts you should be able to get it perfectly square.

They are a similar width, but different rims and in my experience Ronnie's weren't as strong. Personally if it was me i'd ignore both and get an Echo Urban front rim

Couldn't agree more, quite amusing to me but I'd get pretty annoyed at some peoples attitudes if I was Adam! I'm interested to hear the new team, hopefully they'll appreciate the support and give something back, and make lots of good videos That would probably take him weeks? Just take it on the chin and get out practicing. Unfortunately just because you've had something before doesn't mean you'll always have it. I think there were some very good applicants so I wouldn't take it personally!

It also helps protect the hose. If you do it right you can get a clean run with no sudden bends, this helps keep the hose in the right place and stops it rubbing the frame. I used to end up with loads of damage to my paintwork due to hose rub. It reduces friction if using a cable brake. Plus the minor benefit stated above of looking cleaner, by removing the need for cable guides/ zip-ties/ tape. It takes a bit of time to do first time but I think I'll use it on every bike from now. Oh and I found the easiest way to fit it was to first thread through a brake inner cable with the aid of a magnet. Once this is all the way through you can just push on the outer cable/hose and use the inner wire to guide it through.

I drilled my top tube and routed my cable internally for the smoothest possible route from lever to noodle. It made the lever action super smooth. Here's a pic of the routing, I'm running a magura now but you get the idea.

Brakeless, respect! I'm riding elite and will no doubt be last due to a distinct lack of riding!

Thanks for that, a really enjoyable vid

A mono trial is definitely more powerful than a Juicy, is yours? If it isn't as good as your old juicy then something is wrong. There's no point trying to spend your way out of a problem until you first know what you're trying to fix! What makes you think a complete brake rebuild will help? From the little info you gave it sounds more like either a set-up issue, contaminated pads or simply that it hasn't bed in yet.

Whats wrong with it Max, how come the Echo won't fit?

Stanage Edge/hathersage This Weekend 6th/7th
Matt Burrows replied to Duncy H's topic in Member Organised Rides
I went last Sunday and had a great ride, the rocks and ground were pretty dry. There was still random patches of snow but the riding spots were fine. Don't think i'll make it this weekend though -
My advice would be to download VLC media player. You can alter the play speed to anything you want, and to almost any video unlike most media players. When you watch techniques frame by frame its often surprising how exagerated the movements are! Also get a video of your attempts and compare the two, it will be pretty obvious what you need to change then

I'll be there I hope

Vancouver 2010 Video- Steve Dickin, Jeff Anderson
Matt Burrows replied to JEFF Anderson's topic in Videos
Epic, best vid I've seen in ages! I was actually quite scared watching those 180s on the bridge, Steve really doesn't have a lot of fear! -
Depends on the forks, and the quality control! Can't get much closer than within 5mm, not that you'd be able to feel such a tiny difference...

Cheers guys, yeah Roy we need to get out more

Enjoyed that . Would like to see more, especially if thats not his best riding. Any other videos of him worth watching?
