Teenage Angst Communal Agony Aunt Thread
Sabiot replied to Has anyone seen my shoe?'s topic in Chit Chat
This one qualifies for this thread in a round about kinda way... Okay women... lets solve this for once an all... YOU ARE NOT AS INTERESTED IN SEX AS MEN ARE! This is the biggest farce the world has ever known. Yeah there are a couple exceptions. But 999,999,999 of 1,000,000,000 women are NOT as interested in sex as men. So lets stop it. Stop giggling with your friends acting like you're actually interested. Stop pretending you're talking about something kinky or sexual when we walk past. Its over. I got you figured. Its over. Oh, and that whole bullshit story with not wanting to have sex cause you don't feel attractive? I guess me drooling over you the past 374893274893 months we've been living together, the fact I cant keep my hands off you and finally the fact that I tell you every day how beautiful you are doesn't make you attractive. Naw. It doesnt matter that I worship you like a goddess. You have to be able to walk down the street and know that everyone wants to f**k you. Nope. Not good enough that the man you're with loves you and wants you always... nope. Gotta f**k em all. God damn sluts -
I hope you didnt just get it done for girls? Have you thought what would happen if you caught that ring on your handlebars or something man! Try doing a gap with your nipple bleeding like a river! lol

Hey guys, he is trying... I honestly don't know the whole story aside from that he mouthed off on a different account. Callum is like what, 15? I remember I was kinda hot headed and dare I say "immature" at that age. I mean I'm only 22 but there is a large difference in maturity from one to the other. I was the one who suggested he post a video or pics of him riding or something riding related in hopes it might show that he is about riding and not some other crap. Although, my advice would be stop trying to get validated Callum... it'll happen when it happens? I was around your age when I was trying to join an Online Gaming Group and they just wouldnt let me in cause I was always asking to get in, was hot headed when I didnt get in and so on and so on. Just let it be man. Ask some questions about something you're unsure of. Show us a video of you riding man! Lets see some fat tricks! I definately plan on putting a training video up on here. I can barely bunnyhop 6-12", I cant hold an endo or wheelie for more than like 3-4 seconds. I cant tail spin. I cant hop on curbs, bounce or even stand on the rear wheel, cant pedal kick, cant side hop. Shit. I would hardly even call what I'm doing trials. I'm training though. And I can say without a doubt I am outside damn near every day for 30-60mins riding. Why? Cause I love to ride. Trials is intriguing. It's challenging. And lets face it... people stop and look at least a little when you jump off a 20 story building into a manual... I mean, come on... thats cool stuff! Just make it about riding Callum. In all seriousness, if the people here don't like you... f*ck em. I mean I know exactly where they are coming from and I think it's a valid standpoint/punishment. You don't need to impress anyone man. Just ride. When the time is here, they'll let you know man. Good luck and keep on riding. - Adrian

Right on man. Thats what I like to say. Looks liketrail riders with some trials influences. I like that man. Two buddies riding around having a good time. Nice vid

Actually, lip and eyebrow rings these days are also closely related to the ever increasing popularity in the emo scene. Many many kids these days are listening to the music and following code of tight (female!) pants. Maybe he's emo.
-
Yeah cause I was going to say damn man. I wanna see your vid now. Plus I love Metallica (older stuff)
-
I am still a big noob when it comes to riders but I have seen a few from Danny Macaskill. Amazing rider
-
I dont know why everyone is getting on this guy's case. Yeah it did look kinda BMXish but you know what, what really defines trials? It's a guy hoping on his bike and riding on pretty much anything they want/are able to right? Going through a course (line) of obstacles and not bailing. I would've liked to have seen more stuff on the back wheel, more jumps and stuff... but he has great control over his bike and will be able to do all this stuff easily in time.
-
Okay now that totally makes sense. I'm going to try that right now actually. Throwing your weight back on a regular endo to land on the back wheel only sounds totally like the sort of thing I need to practice. Thanks for that man. And to whomever asked, I cant do back hops yet, no. I am still trying to get on the backwheel and balance there. I just ripped up on the handlebars a few times and eventually got the bike up there but I fell right off since I had no brakes on. I was reading on Trashzen that you should lock your brakes, lean back and slowly apply pressure to the pedal while releasing your brake slightly. I've tried this and I cant seem to get the tire to stay up there. I guess its just more practice. Thanks for the advice and the votes of confidence guys. Ride on bros EDIT: I thought I'd edit instead of adding another post. I went out a little ago and tried a few things. I was able to do a somewhat controlled endo and then rock back and get the front wheel up a little. I think I need to practice this for more than one reason. But one last quick question... to help get the front wheel up I know I have to shift weight backwards... is this all in leaning backwards and maybe even pushing the pelvis forward? or do I stick my butt out over top the rear wheel instead? Which way is more correct?
-
Hey guys. The last couple of days I've been riding I've been trying a few new things. First on the list is getting on the rear wheel. I'm having some trouble with this. The two times I actually got on the back wheel I threw myself off and nearly landed on my butt. I guess my question is, when exactly am I supposed to lock up the brake? Is it more trial and error? I suppose if my weight is distributed correctly I should be able to brake at any time right? Aside from practice practice practice, can anyone offer any tips? If it helps I roll my bike to a stop, lean forward and then shoot my weight back, lean back and pull on the handle bars. If I'm doing it wrong, please help! Now for endo drops. I did a couple from a curb the other day, pretty fun actually. My only question is this. When I go to do the endo I slow down, come to a full stop, lock the front brake, move the rear wheel off the curb and then release the front break while trying to pull up on the handlebars. I guess my question is, will I be able to tell if I am doing this correctly from something as small as a curb? I did notice that if I didnt release the brake fast enough that my rear wheel would actually hit the ground before I was trying to get the front wheel down, this really threw off my balance. Would I be correct in assuming (on something as small as a curb) that I do not want the back wheel to hit the ground before I start lifting the front? Thanks in advance guys. You've helped me a lot in the past week or so.

Damn guys, you and your bollocks (which I assume is your manhood) I havent sacked myself bad yet. There was this one time I pulled a fast endo though and my feet slipped. The bike started going up but my body didn't. I tell you... that look on the GF's face was sheer terror. "oh my god! what have you done to it?!"
-
I dont think I follow... Why is chain snapping so bad? Are we talking during a pedal kick or something? I'm not too sure why this would be such a big deal. For me, its heights, going over the handle bars or falling on my back/head. I've never had a big bail really. The closest thing would be when I was just riding down a hill one time, I was on the sidewalk and the sidewalk ended where a road intersected and I kept riding and went up on the incline where the sidewalk started again. I was going straight into a brick wall and turned sharply to avoid it. I ended up going over the handlebars and I remember that I actually bounced. I ruined my brake lever, shifters and my handle bars were really skewed afterwards. Nasty gashes on my legs and hands but I popped right back up. I couldnt believe it really. I only really remember saying "crap gotta turn right now!" "whoa I'm in the air" "khjksdkasdhkjsa... " I do agree with whoever said to get right back on the bike though. When I did that, I didnt ride for a few months and it took me ages to go down a hill again at a decent speed. I was really scared. I eventually got over it and when I started playing around on my bike a few months back I remember bailing a couple times on and endo. Nothing serious. Then I held a nice one for like 3 or 4 seconds and I went over top the handle bars but I didnt launch myself it was like I fell straight down on top of the bike. I hit my head and scrapped up myself a little. It rung my bell but I got right back on the bike and I made sure I did at least 1 more good endo. I think the biggest thing is, granted its not a serious injury, finish the day on a good note. I always try to stop practicing anything after I've been satisfied with how much I practiced and after I've done a decent one.

In all seriousness, that is not cool. He is a big guy, okay fair enough. He probably relies on his size to intimidate people, it worked this time after all. It'd say if you want to do something about it, do one of the following: 1) Take pictures of your wounds, get your friend who saw it to go with you to the police This is the most "correct" course of action. If you're lucky he might get a fine. However, either way he'll be PISSED if you ever come back there. So if you press charges and go back, be ready to rumble. 2) Go back with more friends (like 4+) Well this is the confrontational approach. I personally like to avoid confrontation at any time so I would probably not do this. I mean, if he told me once nice enough to leave then I would. If he mistakenly thought I was someone he had already told and threw my bike and tried to hit me... it'd be on. Back to it anyways... go back there, have a good time. Be warned however! You are doing this knowing if he comes out he will be angry. Be ready for a fight. If he's big, take a few seat stems, handle bars or something you arent using at the moment. Make sure all your friends have one and/or are comfortable fighting this piece of shit. When he comes out, don't give him the chance. Hopefully you won't be the one he goes after first. I know its cowardly, but so is what he did, hit the b*****d in the back of the head. It'll hurt more if he doesnt know where it's coming from as well the back of the head is not a legal place to strike in most combat sports because of the vicious damage you can do to someone. It's easy to knock them down or at the very least rock them. Lay in to the guy if you're going to do this. Don't let up until he's slow enough getting up that you and your friends have time to pack your shit, spit on him and leave. I would highly recommend you don't do this. Eye for an eye doesn't often work out well. But I mean, it all depends on you... he certainly has it coming to him. Back to your original question though... Naw, never had any problems biking around. I mean, I cant jump on things or do fancy stuff yet so I dont make a whole lot of noise. Most you hear out of me is a loud thump and a f*ck when I really screw up a bunnyhop. LOL, I hate that damn move almost as much as I love it. I think I'd leave if a person asked me nice enough. I'd probably leave if they didn't ask nicely actually. I don't like confrontation like I said. I have 5+ years of various martial arts experience but I've never been in a street fight because I choose not to be in them. It's simple enough.

I have a Rocky Mountain Flow 3 and it has Marzochi Dirtjam Pro suspension forks. Its a good bike for riding around, doing some smaller drops, trails and I'm trying now to learn trials on it. I like it so far but if I stick with trials for a bit I am without a doubt getting a mod bike if I can find one with a couple gears and a seat. The shock is nice and all, it gives me some extra spring when trying to do bunnyhops and stuff. This is nice because I'm still learning the technique and I find the extra spring helps hold the tire up in the air longer so I have a little more time to think "okay, jump, tuck, push" On the other hand, endos and front wheel stuff is a little... weird. I have the fork with about 80lbs of air pressure and the highest setting on the spring. There isnt a whole lot of play in the shock but sometimes when I do something, it'll feel stiff and then as more weight is shifted overtop of the bike I can feel it sink in a little. So, yeah get something with a spring and air I'd say... make it as stiff as possible. Look in the book that comes with the fork, set the air pressure to maybe 5-10lbs above what it suggests for your weight and go from there. The point is, you want a little bit of squish when you compress and get ready to explode, but little enough that when you move on the front wheel you dont have to try to compensate for suddenly being 2 inches closer to your wheel and quite possibly over your balance point. Wear a helmet!

Whats fake about the pics? Looks like he is hoping onto a ledge and landing it with his rear tire... I dont understand

List Your Bike Queris Here, Be It Big Or Small!
Sabiot replied to Dan x)'s topic in Beginners Trials Chat
I got a question for you old guys! In terms of both quality and weight... who has the strongest pieces and who makes the lightest pieces? I mean companies in both of those questions. I've never built a trials bike before and I'd like to educate myself before spending some money -
I ride a rocky mountain flow 3.0 This bike was designed mostly for trails and dirt jumps, however because of the way the frame sits and how low you can get the seat, the fact that its a hard tail, etc. Its a decent trials bike. I'm having fun learning how to do trials on this bike. Nice speed, good for getting around. I've taken it off a couple smaller drops, no problems with the bike at all after about 8 months of use. The only thing I need to do is tune up the gears. Rocky mountain makes a good bike I also bought (a few years back) a Norco Wolverine. Good bike. Cheap though. I mean, the only thing that ever broke was the shocks (not the whole fork) and a blew a few tires. Good to learn on and it was only $500 Canadian

I'm sure you were dead serious and trying to help... but that was freakin hilarious
-
Yeah that makes sense. I totally understand the concept. I just wouldnt trust myself to do that kinda thing. I'll take the extra couple pounds I think
-
Thats gunna be real hard to ride on I'd wager man. The frame doesnt slope down much which means if you mess up on an endo, bunny hop (pretty much anything) you're gunna hit the family jewels. I never saw a more terrified face than the first time my gf saw me do an endo and I nearly sacked myself. My bike is NOT a trials bike, but it does the job well enough. To be honest I don't know what most of these guys ride in terms of weight. But my frame is just under 5 pounds (2.2kg I think) and the rest of the bike I wouldnt wager is any more than another 5 pounds. This is about 10 total. You said yours was 15kg? That makes your bike more than 3 times as heavy as mine. I think it might be a problem. I personally would suggest another one. But I mean, why not give everything a shot now and see how you like it right? No sense wasting $1,000 and then finding out you hate trials.

nice vid bro, this is the kinda shit you need to post. This is the kinda thing that'll get you validated
-
I gotta go with all the other more senior members on this one. This thread is pointless (I only clicked on it so I could get a taste of the type of drama here) it's your standard internet stuff really. Callum, just ride man. Go for a ride with some friends, take some pics and show us. Show us your bike. Show us a video. Even post something like "hey this is my bike, what parts could I change out to make the bike lighter without compromising strength and longevity?" I dunno, maybe start a favorite bike part company thread or a favorite area to ride thread. Just ride man. I seriously suck at this trials stuff, I am hardly a halfway competent street rider. But I love biking for what it is. It's freedom man, don't squander it. Just ride.
-
Yeah I cant believe you guys are even suggesting that to people. That cant be good for the structure of the bike. You guys that drill holes, ever wonder why your bike parts break so quickly?
-
My big isnt trials specific but it has avid juicey hydro disks on both end. I like the grip. The more I use it the more it seems to grip
-
I think I read on wikipedia or something that originally stock trials bikes were just stock mountain bikes. I'm pretty sure some of them had a few lower gear settings. When I get a more specificly trials bike I'm going to make sure it can have two things... a seat and a couple of gears. So to answer your question more directly, I thik some have gears but many do not.
