  1. How much did you drink/smoke last night, Adrian?
  2. My faith does not stand for murder or rape of which is contained within the bible! I'm a Christian, I believe in God, I believe in the 10 Commandments, I attend church, I pray, I turn to God for help when I need it and when others need it, I ask for forgivness of sins. I believe, I have faith.
  3. Yet all the people to commit crime against Christianity in the bible were not punished. Some were, yes, but not all, which I suppose kind of illuminates to some that if a deciple can escape being punished for provacative behaviour then so can anyone? That's the way I see it anyway.
  4. No, infact, some of the things the bible contains are baddd! Infact, the bible contains lies and is very self contradictory. Stories of rape and murder are expressed within the bible, for example when Potiphar's wife lied to her own husband covering the truth of Joseph attempting to rape her, Abraham lies repeatedly about Sarah not being his wife and instead, his sister. Jacob lies to Issac to steal Esau's blessing and Joseph's brothers also lied to Jacob about something or other. Their only a few things I can think of off the top of my mind... There are three main groups that Christians can place themeselves in: Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Protestant. I personally base myself in the third cateogory that is Protestantism; I am less extreme than catholics, for example, I believe in relative moraltiy, whereas you will find that catholics believe in absolute morality. I believe that it is perfectly acceptable to use contraception, to drink, to swear and all that, because I still believe in God, I put myself in Gods hands. I'm not hurting anybody else by believing in relative morality more so that absolute morality, and in some cases I am even looking to help others by believing in relative morality, for instance, in the case of rape and abortion. Just because I don't believe everything in the bible, does not make me a bad Christian, nor does it mean that I am not a Christian at all.
  5. I honestly expected this topic to be about losing your virginity. Anybody else?
  6. Which won't actually give you much insight at all... I'm a Christian, I have strong faith in God yet in all honesty I don't follow everything that the bible tells me I should follow in order to be a good Christian. I'll answer anything with my own views if you so wish?
  7. What if they can't talk, what if they can't move, so they can't purposefully express their feelings and needs through speech or movement? Then what? Every person retains the right to refuse a treatment recommended by a doctor, even when terminally ill and when such refusal could effectively be viewed as suicide. Doctors are able to aid passive euthanasia (withdrawing a patient’s medical treatment with the deliberate intention of causing the patients death) and may withhold treatment, yet it is illegal to perform active euthanasia (using specific methods to cause the patient’s death, for example, injecting the patient with a fatal poison.) Problems with particular patients may arise; the patient at hand may eventually become so ill that they can no longer communicate effectively, or in a worse scenario, become mentally incompetent. It is, of course, impossible to forecast what would happen if the change of law concerning euthanasia was introduced, the consequences of a legalisation of euthanasia could be profound, but it is expected that only a small majority of people would request the process of assisted suicide to be completed upon them and many other people would be greatly reassured that the option of assisted suicide would be available if their condition were to become entirely unbearable later on. However, the prediction that a small amount of people would request the act of euthanasia to be used on them could be entirely inaccurate based around the fact that when abortion was legalised it was predicted that it would be requested by a small number of females, when infact, the amount of abortions performed proved to be far higher than first anticipated. Euthanasia is a complex issue; there are incredible amounts of pros and cons towards legalising euthanasia. Giving people the choice between living and dying when suffering would lead to people having greater autonomy over each individual’s lives and give patients suffering from terminal illnesses a chance to avoid great pain, great emotional distress and great suffering. However, euthanasia begins the degradation of murder and opens up the possibility of erosion in the system of deciding if a person had been ‘murdered’ or ‘assisted in suicide.’ On compassionate grounds it could be considered that an individual should be able to make his or hers own decisions, it should be our duty that if a person chooses to commit suicide to avoid pain, yet are incapable of acting out their wishes, we should help them, if all other options have been explored, and still exhausted, if the pain the person is suffering cannot be adequately controlled then it is obvious that the most humane thing to do would be to allow the suffering person to die if that is what they wish.
  8. Big debate going on in English today, and so I thought I'd find out what some of you lot thought on the subject. So, euthanasia... right or wrong?
  9. Maybe he's not replied because he's currently in intensive care? ...
  10. Get Nick to send you the parts back?
  11. How true. Despite being taught from birth that God created the world, in my own mind I am aware of how there must be a more logical reason for the existence of the universe. Surely it is only logical for one to accept that no one man could have created such incredible matter, and there are so many flaws in each theory based upon religion as to how the universe was bought to life. I believe in the whole, God is the cause of evolution, and that evolution shows the power that God has, but hey, each to their own...
  12. This topic will be the beginning of a war between religion and the theory of evolution. And yes, OBM.
