    .~

They are the nastiest grips I've ever used. I bought some to replace my 18mth old longnecks a month exactly ago, they have worn out to the pink under layer in places, all the file patten has gone, they hurt my palms to the extent that they still hurt when I'm not even riding, and there are useless in anything above 10deg where you may sweat, or in any rain, there also pretty fat. AVOID. Agreed with Mark, Longnecks.
  2. Well well well off topic, but my grandad had some of those a while back, he wore them for years, I think we may have had him buried in them "..
  3. Yes but there too narrow for use in most frames these days, hence using the 8mm wider 321.. EDIT: Hmm What about one of new Tioga rims? They seem to be holding up pretty damn well for anybody whos using them in 24". FACTORY DH 24" & 26" Rim Double wall aluminum construction Stainless steel double eyelets Knurled wall to prevent tire slippage 35mm width Disc brake only; 32h or 36h 24" 545g; 26" 590g Black with white stripe Only 1mm narrower than 321, same weight as a 521 loads of room for a brake and only £25? Hold grinds well apparently too, would be my rim of choice Rich.
  4. I have two (Y) Avid Ti Arms XTR Lever Odyssey Cable Plaz Crv's XTR Booster It looks rather worn now though, that pictures nearly a year old. It worked better than the magura, without the modulation though, but it cost so much money, and the calipers wear out really fast when paired up with a really grabby pad like CRV's. Its all good when new, can't fault it, but constant cleaning, cable replacing, and general maintainence is time consuming and expensive. That setup cost £75, But I dread to think how much I've spend on cables, a replacement set of arms, and now the pads need replacing. My magura cost me £22.50 complete..
  5. :( Who's deffo coming them?
  6. Steve, Would you be able to put the Koolstop pad inserts (if there useable...) into a set of V backings? I'm liking the modulation of them, but not the magura aspect!!

    Power?

I was just watching a video (Dan Holroyds 'latest' one..) and its made me wonder something.. How can some people have so much 'power' or 'pop', and others, who are doing the exact same thing, not have anywhere near as much? I used to think it was just physical strength, but it can't be, in the vid, he bunnyhops onto railings, that are massive, just using a normal bunnyhop, he just seems to be able to produce so much upwards force, maybe I'm reading to much into it, he's really good, and I'm not, but its struck me. A guy I know can static up bar height +, and he's smaller than me, and I'm struggling with wheelheight stuff, and yet he seems to be able to produce so much more upwards thrust almost, than me, even when doing the same thing, it can't all be down to bad technique? As im writing this its just crying out, 'there better than you' but there must be something, muscle explosive-ness?! rich.
  9. Lever: Magura Callipers: Magura Hose: Black Magura Mounts: Evo Pads: Koolstops (new) Rim: Atomlab Airorp, grinded. Booster: Magura Blob of tar for anything 'big'..
  10. I've just been cleaning up baked beans in our common room lmao, made me feel sick hehe. dont ask why...
  11. IMO, either Tioga Comp 3 2.1, can't fault it really, not for £12 from CRC, great for street, grip isn't great, especially in the wet, Hot-S kinda grip i'd say, slides on wet bricks etc, 740g, narrow. Or, for street and other bits, Specialized Roller 2.5" REALLY light, 550g, sidewalls like paper, good grip, I'd liken it to a single ply maxxis, not that I'd ever used one haha, wears pretty fast, I pinched mine on the front, tapping haha, but thats just me probably. £20 approx. EDIT: Maybe one of thnese in 24"? Not been used but sound almost perfect. Tioga Blue Dragon Sport
  12. Hahah I thought the exact same thing the first time I saw it...
  13. Listen to the man. I've been using them for the last 2 years, and I just switched to DMR Zip grips, and I wished I haden't, there nasty compared to longnecks. They seriously do last for yonks, I'm not sure what hardness I had, but I easily got a years use out of them, and I ripped them when taking them off rather than them wearing out completely. Get some, and some talc/chalk/anti-P stuff, I'm gonna go back to them.
  14. Agreed. Right Jon. Take the whole brake system off, take the wheel off, and the tyre. Clean the brake, really well, washing up liquid and warm water and a brush, do the same with the wheel, really well, use muc-off if you have it. Bleed the brake. Do it well. Clean the pads soo throughly, and if you have a wide rim, file them down, make sure there flat, clean with more fairy liquid, swill off. Grind the rim, do It so the lines are verticle, drag it quickly, make sure the disk is clean ish. Now set the brake up, really well, take time, flat pads, make sure there flat vertically as well, look in the FAQ as well. Then come back and say it doesn't work, I bet your setup at the moment is filthy, the bleed is old, its set less than wonderfully, the rim is still caked in tar around the edges, and the pads are covered in inground dirt and tar residue. The brake should lock whenever, and never slip, anything less, and somethings wrong, if you follow that (please correct me if i've left anything out). Rich
  15. Damn that silly gay one of big brother, he said it was only a few inches... why did i post that..
  16. Michael Jackson has been forced to change his methods since the court case.
  17. Haha, I wouldn't, he probably doesnt know himself, although his late wifes godfather probably was the first to produce aluminium to make bike frames... It's had dents filled in the downtube, search for previous topics on it if you are serious, be careful. ;) Rich.
  18. You have washed/filed off the top surface of the pad to get rid of the tar/dust crap that builds up.. I've just been out on mine, magura, standard, new koolstops, grind, rain, and its well nice, not slipped once.
  19. Well mine is a brake that holds me whenever (well rain effects it, but you know what I mean). I've used plaz, clean rim, V brake, never slipped, and on a grind, and now a magura (totally standerd) with koolstops on a naff grind, and thats not bad either, doesnt slip.
  20. Sounds like theres an underlying problem, bleed the brake maybe?
  21. Observed trials .net or something I was wondering that only yesterday..
