I saw loads of trials riders out during the qashqai event in london on the 24th and was wondering how the ride was. (I was the guy on the t-rex practicing pedal kicks outside the glode thearte). I was thinking of joining the ride but you guys just seemed to dissapear.

Definitely the Rex

New or old style? I haven't used the new style although they look great. The old style is great (using one at the moment). The frame is too short for nattie and the bb is also a bit high, but they are absolutely amazing muck around bikes and work amazing for street stuff.

For trials I don't think that I really get along with anything but a vee up front.

Pull your bars closer to your chest and get your pedals a bit more level. It will allow you ot hop with your arms bent and improve your balance on the rear wheel.
-
Any half decent 4x or dirt jump frame that can accomodate 100mm forks will be perfect for what you want. For the front end you can not beat aryles though.

If you can't do it with the limit screws (they will only go to a certain point) take an old gear cable and put the top bit that is usually in the shifter on the outer cable breaker on the frame. Then thread it to the deraileur and tension it right to get the gear you want. Works amazingly, did it to a freinds bike when he broke the cable at the bottom.

Try standing up more vertical on the pedals and pull the bars closer to your chest. Also try to bounce as low as possible rather than jump. When you can keep your balance on the back wheel just hopping enough to let the pressure of your tire but keep contanct with the floor then you can hop as far back as you want to.

Use a crank puller to get the crank off the bb, then take out the non-drive side cup and you will find that the drive side will come out very easily.

I personally do not like the avid juicy brakes. I have them on one of my bikes and the levers are quite fragile, however the bleed kit is an absolutely amazong design and they are the best brakes I have ever had the need to bleed.

I was basing it on the theory that the rubber block absorbs all of the shock and that the metal does little else than keep the block in place and stop it from getting torn apart by the object. So the actual answer is I don't honestly know

To fit the Onza T-rex 04 frame and go around a normal block of rubber, because I was going to try and make myself one with a milling machine and 4mm thick sheet aluminum.

I ride watever bike I am on at the time for whatever purpose. I always end up at the skate park on my trials bike and everyone there loves it. Just ride what you want. P.S. the most stylish guy in my local park is a trials rider who shows up everyone by hopping up the side of the quarter.

I know that this will make me sound like a newb, but why don't stck riders use bashplates? I have an 04 Onza T-rex, which has the mounting for a bash plate, so I phoned around looking for one to fit. I got told by someone working for onza that the frame was designed to be used with a bashplate that never went into production as for the amount of riders that it would want it, it would not bes cost affective. So tell me why use bashguards and not the more efficient bashplate?

Cheers for all the comments. I did not realise that you could not anodise steel, however the other frames that I wnated to get done are alu so if anyone knows how much it would cost and where I could get it done near watford it would be a big help. My azonic DS1 needs a respray and I would prefer ano. Thanks

Loving the guy in the background!

I've got an old peice of crap silverfox frame. I know that it is truly crap but it is made of steel and I like the feel of it for mucking around on. I might get the welds redone by a freind to strengthen it and have the dropouts replaced for horizontal ones, but if I do I need it resprayed which I can not be asked to do again. My question is does anyone know where I can get it and some other frames anodized near Watford and roughly how much it would cost?

My friends bro has a BMX that he bought and never really used. The tires are about 2psi at the moment and it has a U-brake and I love it. I can hop around on that about as well as I can with my Magura on rear. It is a cheap set up but for some reason just works really, really well. I say just keep fiddling around till it works. I say this but you probably will need to use two fingers on the brake instead of one.

That is not the best idea I have heard. If you do that you will not find your LBS at all helpful when you need them in the future. If you buy a bike from them they will often do you deals on other parts and maybe even help you sort out any problems for free. If you go to them, they help you find the right bike for you and then you buy it from somewhere else they will not be that willing to help you out in future.

I got into trials on a peice of shit Silverfox frame. It was quite strong and only had a 14" seat tube, but was made of steel so weighed an absolute ton. I then did a bit on an azonic DS1 before I finally built a trials bike. You know what I learnt, trials is easier on a trials bike but it is better to find out if you like it on whatever you are used to riding. Just go out and try it and try to avoid seat to testicle contact

Thanks everyone. I think some new pads are in order. Does anyone know anything about the hairspray idea though?
