  1. I concur. I was not trying to say that whether you are right handed has any effect on which of your legs are dominat, only that the dominat leg is not decidely ramdomly but similarly to the way we decide our dominant hand, i.e. the way our brain in wired. If you are interested look up 'Sperry's split brains' which is a psychological investigation about brain functions along these lines.
  2. Planet X forks rock. Did something similar once with cheap rigids but the steerer bent, Had the same effect though. At first didn't realise and wondered why my foot kept hitting the wheel.

    Chain Tugs

Does any one know how to stop the problem of the tension slowly changing when using chain tugs? It is really starting to piss me off having to stop every half hour, especially seeing as one side moves slightly quicker causing the brake to rub before the chain goes slack. Please don't suggest snail cams as I have no intention of modifying my frame. Also does anyone know where I can find threshold tugs as they look very good
  4. This is simply not true weather you are right or left handed depends on which of your visual feilds is more developed, if you have a stronger left visual feild, you will be right handed, the same follows for which of your feet you find more natural. There is definitely a link however as you said we are creatures of habit and if you originally learn to use left foot forward you will feel more comfortable like that, similar to if you told a right handed child to always hold a pen in the left hand before teaching them to write. Confusing I know, but there have been some great psychological studies into this. I personally am stronger with all of my right side, compared to my left.
  5. Had a problem like this. I trued the wheel and it was still doing it, it was only then I realised I had snapped the axle in the middle and it was being held together by the quick release skewer.

    Rim Or Disc?

I dislike discs for trials, one as you can catch them but two because the rear never has the same hold as a maggie. I also think that you don't get the same feel from the brakes and I like the feedback you get from rim brakes.
  7. Hands down P-45 should win this vote
  8. are you sure you are turning it the right way
  9. front wheel hops rolling pedal kicks.
  10. would love to ride but my trials bike is out of action for another couple of weeks so I am riding chicksands tommorow.
  11. I use 22:16 though I have managed pedal kicks on my dirt jump bike with 36:20
  12. I just bought one of these. I now need knew cranks as well as a new wheel as my truvativ cranks don't have enough clearence against the brakes to allow the use of a wide rim (mines 47mm). The frame looks amazing though and I am really looking forward to giving it a first ride. Glad other people like them!

    Truvativ

The reason that I ask is that i have a problem with my cranks alomost touching my brake at the top of the rotation as I pedal and I can not push the crank out enough. So I was thinking of using them with a 128mm isis cranks.
  14. Steel frame are the best to ride, the slight flex stops the instant impact that you get with alu and stops all the cracking sounds you get on really harsh landings. Also if you crack it, it is easily rewelded.

    Truvativ

Does anyone know if you can use a normal isis bb with a set of truvativ cranks with the howitzer fitment. They seem to fit together perfectly but has anyone else tried this.
  16. I just bought a 24/7 trials frame off ebay and i am using it with a 46mm echo rim. The problem that I have is that I have previously used truvativ ruktion cranks, however the spacing on this frame is odd and the chainring is almost too close to the chainstay and the end of the crank almost touches the brake, so I have trouble positioning the brake so that it doesn't rub. Does any one else have this problem and if so what cheap isis cranks would you reccomend getting. I don't mind squares I just don't mind square taper, just don't want to spend money on something that is very easily rounded.
  17. That is not entirely true. Isis is the most common form of splined bb, but it is not the only form of it. However in most cases on this forum, when someone says splined they mean isis.
  18. My friend has a bmx that never gets used. It has shite U-brakes and a flat tyre on the rear, but i could hop around on it all day.
  19. You are close but still slightly off. The name mod does refer to modified, but it was not through the addition of bash rings etc... It is through adding gussetes to strengthen the frame (sometimes changing head angle, etc...) to make the bikes capable of doing trials riding. Don't forget bike trials along with bmx was originally a way to allow children to ride like their motorbike heroes.
  20. If it is rising ofd of the back of the sprocket, then it sounds like you just have a stiff link. If this is the case grab the chain on each side of the link and flex it back and forth, this should solve your problem.

    Rides

This may sound like a stupid question, but why are rides nearly always planned for sundays? I would love to come to some of them but I work sundays and would love to see more rides happening saturday (especially around london or hertfordshire). So why always sundays?
  22. I was wondering the same thing for the exact same reason, however I can not find anywhere that is able to do it. I've tried bike shops (loads of them) and even car mechanics. I got a tip to try car engine rebuilders as they are the most likely place to have the tools. Might try that next.

    Snail Cams

This may sound like a really noobie thing to say but what are snail cams and how are they uesed. I know they are used on mods to help tension the chain but how and why not just use chain tugs?
  24. I love vertical but it makes big lunges harder to pull off.
