  1. You sound like you have a slight bend, but also the caliper is misaligned, if putting spacers in makes it worse you may need to reface your barke mounts, though tht should only be done be a mechanic if you are not too sure!
  2. Sorry my bad, misread the post and thought you said to wear down pads if you got noise whilst riding normally, not braking. I apologise (not something I do often)
  3. Go for the try-all, the pick up on it is insane, if you run a tight, stretched chain there will be no pickup time.
  4. The avids have a custom bleed kit, so building one is out of the question. Buy the kit, push the pistons back, clean the pads and file them a bit if neccesary and then bleed the brake and put it back on. Problem solved. If you still have trouble the instructions that come with the brake (or bleed kit for that matter) are very good, check them out here!
  5. I agree, man up grow so cojones (and some muscles) and then just pull up hard and kick your legs in to get the front up, then just hop.
  6. To be fair I wouldnot say that those holes will make any difference at all strength wise. I would say that the weakest part there would be the weld and they look pretty neat anyway.
  7. That is a terrible suggestion, if it is still making a rubbing noise it could mean that there is a slight bend in the rotor or the caliper is not properly aligned. Dragging the brakes until the pads wear down more is a bodge and a really crap one at that! (rant over!)
  8. Cool. my number is 07515533868
  9. I have to go to sussex uni on thursday and I thought I would ride brighton afterwards, anyone wish to join me?
  10. Try the coke can trick if it becomes a problem, but only the tiniest strip.
  11. The most motivated I have been lately is when a friend and I found two curbs that slowly grew further apart and had a little gap contest. We spent about an hour with nothing more to do than find new ways to get across these curbs and didn't get bored even then. Try something like that, something small but a new way to ride it.
  12. Jeeze you are really trying hard to get validated this time aren't you?
  13. I am around 14 odd stone (I know I am a fat guy, but most of it is muscle) and I normally run 20 psi without many problems. The other day I had a slow puncture and rode fine with around 8psi even did a drop about 5 foot high like that. Just get a good tire!
  14. Clean them, let them dry and then forcd them on. Brute force is the way forward.
  15. I live in watford area but I am more than happy to come to Milton Keynes for group rides. I also ride bmx if you ride that too (not to mention mountain bikes and everything else).
  16. why BMX? Going up to southend with a friend of mine to get a bit of trials practice. Be there from about 12 til whenever so if you come call me on 07515533868.
  17. Don't live there, but go there a lot. If there are riders in the area I might have to bring my bike with next time.
  18. Same, however I have heard good things about the tensiles and I would say that they would be more reliable than the try-alls as the machining tolerances do not need to be as fine, also if they do go wrong they are more serviceable than the try all (then again so is everything alse).
  19. Any of those places or even somewhere near there. Give me offers, I am flexible.
  20. Going up there for some street, who wants to join me?
  21. Destroyed bb or freewheel (if you are using a front freewheel that is).
  22. You seem pretty insistent about the bb7, if you want one then buy it. So you know most discs that have been used have a slight bend in them, not usually a problem, but one off of ebay will probably be the same as yours, try just bending yours back or get your lbs to do it.
  23. The grip of slim jims is not great with the standard pins, especially if you ride in wet weather, however they are a nice comfortable shape and the pins are easy enough to change should you want to. Also with trials as your feet push into the pedals at quite a substantial angle then there is less of a problem with slipping off them than with other sports, it just hurts more when you do though!
  24. Student and part time bike mechanic.
