  1. I am definitely riding on the saturday, Ill see you there if you come!
  2. The police move us on a lot in London, even when there are only two or three of us. I have to say though I have only been threatened with a fine once and I think the max they can give is £30. I am trying my hardest to get off work so I can come to this!

    Hands

True, but your hands hurt more once your grips fall off in the wet!

    Hands

My advice : Man the f*ck up and ride through the pain! A little blunt I know but it is neccessary.
  5. The bikehut V arms seem very good to me, what are they like to ride?
  6. I'm riding friday night and saturday all day. Call me (07515533868)
  7. £35 doesn't seem that bad. If you were to paint it yourself, the paint would cost about that.
  8. Normally front sd5 rear maggie, but testing out a front bb7 at the moment as I ride in the wet a lot. By the way I have noticed that the spanish fly pads tend to come out of the backings a lot. My friend is on his third set!

    Rotors

I just bought a BB7 for my stock bike, I am used to using an ultra powerful V, but I ride a lot in the wet. I was wondering what would be the biggest reccomended rotor size and which rotor, was thinking 203. I have planet X steel forks, but I might change to holroyd ones to save weight. Also what pads are most powerful (make and type, e.g. aztec sintered), I know the aztec ones are very good for shimano, but not sure on the avids.
  10. I agree that Halfords is a sh*t store, I jsut don't think it is fair to say that all of the mechanics don't care, or for that matter all of the bikes we sell are sh*t. Sorry to rant, but just got a bit p*ssed.
  11. Change from august to july and then join me. Me and my friends are spending all of july driving around the UK with our bikes, stopping off wherever the riding is good.

    Odd

My bike feels odd to ride. Everyone elses bike feels so smooth on the back wheel, but mine just feels odd. I can ride it but landing is not smooth and I seem to need to tense up more before kicks. I have a holroyd and my friend has a zoo (which are pretty much the same geo), but his feels so much nicer. Do you think it could be my rear tyre or gearing? I seem to be the only person riding dual ply rear and my gearing is 20:16.
  13. You are using the wrong tool. You need a singlespeed tool to stop this happening.
  14. For once, I have no real reason to reply, that was perfect! Just one thing though, do not pound your chain to make the pins mushroom shaped. Hitting your chain just weakens it, just make sure you put the link back in properly and it will be fine.
  15. I run planet X forks that have a vee and disc mount. They are not the lighest forks around but I will never change them for anything as they are super stiff and indestructible. Quite expensive for old forks though, mine cost £60 but they were marked up as £100. Have a look on CRC, there are loads of V-forks. The Gusset Jury forks look pretty similar to mine, try them!

    Snail Cams?

I at first had a problem with my wheel moving when I started with tugs, it then just stopped happening and is lovely now. For that reaon I quote my first point: USE TUGS!
  17. PM me with your phone number. My number is 07515533868 if any one else changes their mind.
  18. Yeah....... but any way check out your local bike hut  I am a bike hut mechanic, so is fatpants or watever he is called these days. The people at the local cycles UK all do some form of cycling (mostly bmx or trials) and the two managers used to work for bike hut. Most of the staff in my LBS used to work for halfords. If you ask I am sure that you will find most bike mechanics have at one point or another worked for a halfords bike hut, so your comment is way off. And as for the bad bikes, we deal in pretty much all makes and can get in most bikes, take a look in a bike hut specific store. Sorry to rant but people like you p*ss me off. If you don't want to buy from halfords then don't but don't insult mechanics that you have never even met!

    Disk Brake

Set up the pads so they are properly aligned. Sounds like the pad is catching on the cutouts.

    New Chain

lol. Can you not tell from the feel of your chain how much strength it has lost? I know what my bike should feel like and I know how a chain feels just before it breaks. Obviously I can't say for definite whether it will snap that ride or not, but usualy when it feels like it, it does!
  21. I concur. There is nothing wrong with the clothing that Halfords do and it is quite cheap. Don't knock it unless you have tried it just because they do mostly crap bikes, the rest of their stuff is generally very good!
  22. Come on everybody you can ride both times!
