  1. I am using a truvativ Howitzer bb on my mountain bike and last time I did it up I used the shimano hollotech tool and a 3' long extension bar with out problem, begs the question what are people using when they strip the threads?
  2. How do people manage to strip BB threads? I am constantly removing my BBs and I really crank them up when I put them in and I have never stripped threads.

  5. Some people say the older ones are stiffer, to be honest I have noticed no difference apart from the colour.
  6. The back must creat an equal an yet opposite reaction other wise the caliper would snap so if you had two pistons on one side it would be twice as powerful as having two pistons on opposite sides.
  7. no the gears are still cable operated but instead of moving a derailer it spins part of the hub which changes the internal driving cog.

  11. Not quite sure what you mean, try using punctuation. Did you mean: You need a little bit of slack in your chain. If the chain is tight it will stretch and become loose so try it with a little bit of slack and keep tightening it. If you try and over tighten it so when it settles it is fine then it will probably snap!
  12. If you are getting a first trials bike, the better you get the easier it is to learn on! Also if you think you will keep riding for a fair while it is worth spending the money now so you don't have to spend it later, don't follow the false economy!
  13. No, that is not a cable mount for the gears that is for the brake, I promise you I work with those hubs a fair bit!
  14. I suppose the this could be down to the fact that on opposed piston designs the two pistons create a force on the rotor that is equal on each side as each piston pushes with the same force. On one sided calipers the two pistons create a larger force in one direction which must be counteracted by an equal force on the other side. This force would be created by the stiffness of the caliper, so it is in effect as powerful as an opposing 4 piston design!
  15. I wouldn't say the new shimano saint would slip very much and you would save a lot of weight and a lot of time. and servo wave technology would mean that the pads could be further out.

  17. No, you would need pistons and pads that are double the size, hence the fact that 4 pot brakes are a lot more powerful than the equivelant 2 pot brakes and cars use 6 pot brakes!
  18. I don't think gloves are neccesary unless it is to stop you from slipping off, as for shin pads it depends, some people never catch their legs and some people do it all the time, I wear a knee and shin on my forward leg but I don't catch it often, it is just incase.

  20. The Limey 3 is the best frame that I have ever ridden, but it all comes down to preference!

  23. Hmm, a 24" deng frame with a new bb system, I might have to find some room for another bike!
  24. How did it break? I was running one of those VIZ hubs on my modstock for ages and it is still in perfect condition.
