Are you using sealed or open bearings? to be honest the spinning the other way after stopping is not really a problem it is in fact quite normal, you have a part of your wheel that is its heaviest point, if the wheel is perfectly trued and dished this will be where the valve is (though this is very rare and don't worry if it is not). Once your wheel does not have enough momentum to get through another full rotation the heaviest point will fall back to the lowest point and a sort of pendulum motion will occur as it swings back and forth getting less and less.
  3. While people reading may not be stupid, other people do seem to be. Does it take any longer to stick the occasional comma or full stop in, or to use the correct word? Or would you prefer to start moaning in a few months when you still have not been validated.

  5. First of all, this is how your post should have been written. Secondly writing 'hope this helped' is not going to get you validated, especially if you don't use punctuation or spell things properly. Also as for the original question; if you have only just got the bike, ride it until the pads bed in, then keep riding it and only then decide if you think you need to change. Honestly it depends on your style and ability as well as your weight, setup and the type of stuff you like to ride.
  6. Ali from what I have seen you ride 95% concrete. If I am right on that it does not really matter what tyre you run as long as it is mildly puncture resistant and has a large enough volume. Think about it this way, I have been running the same tyre on back for 2 years near enough now and it is totally bald but my grip has not decreased at all for what i ride (though riding in the snow was interesting). Saying this, if you are after new tyres I am a big fan of anything maxxis
  7. I dont think it is to extend axle life, just to give the cranks something to press against. the bb is isis if you werent sure so it is a bit bigger than 22mm
  8. I have a platinum pro bb in perfect condition. 127mm axle. There are silver spacers that go on the axle for the cranks to compress against and i am missing one. Was just wondering in anyone knew where i could get a new one or what I could use to replace it.
  9. Wear some thin gasket style knee pads, they are generally not uncomfortable even for long rides, can be wore under jeans and not only do they give you a bit of protection if you fall but they stop your knees from aching after all the bending.
  10. What do you mean by taken your stem off? surely it wont come off without having to brake the hose? Also fitting a hydro in the first place is a bit of hassle
  11. To be fair it is a bit of both. Technically it is a highly penetrating lubricant that is (reasonably) easily removed with water. While it is a lubricant it does in fact have the same affect as a degreaser if used a permanent lubricant in the sense that a degreaser removes the old grease and then allows it to be easily washed away.

  13. Well the front will be run through the steerer (and i don't want to have to bleed a brake every time i grease my headset etc...) and as I am trying to learn barspins and tailwhips i dont want any chance of accidently catching the rear and being caught out.
  14. I need some new disc brakes and they need to be cable. I have had old style BB7s in the past and they were amazing but i have heard one or two people say that the new ones aren't any good. What do the rest of you think? (please only post if you have actually used them)
  15. To be honest with decent parts it is hard to get an actually heavy bike (although some riders may class it as heavy). Personally i dont care about the weight of my bike. I just ride what I have
  16. Yeah from the few that I have tried it is more powerful and has a better feel. But for a bit more you could get a hope and a lot less you could get an old style bb7 why take the mid price/lowest power point.
  17. I have one on the rear of my street/jump bike as well as on the front of my trials bike. It is only 160mm on my jump bike but it gives me all the power i need for most stuff. It is only on those limit pushing moments trying to get up something big that I would worry

  20. How tight are you doing it and what type of spanner are you using?
  21. What hub are you using? the way to do tugs is to have the nuts loose enough that you can easily move the wheel, use the tug to pull it back until it is almost at the tension you want and then fully bolt the hub. you will generally find the chain will have a bit more tension after you have done up the bolts. so you know though tugs are not to stop the wheel from moving only to help you position it right in the first place
  22. Is that a 1035? what is the bb and cs?
  23. what bb is it? pics? i have the same problem with my truvativ bb (though it takes longer to happen). are you sure you are tightening it up enough as sometimes that is the problem. also as already said with loctite you have to clean everything properly first.
