ah sorry about that fella, most of us have been there. Laptops really suck as gaming machines i'm afraid.
-
if you have a laptop i'd say your bascially looking at a new laptop. without a pretty decent knowledge of computers/building them laptops are a real pain to upgrade, and most have cpus soldered in so you'd need to change most of the internals anyway. do you not have a main computer? weren't you on about dual monitors recently?
-
simple answer? buy a new computer hard answer? find out what socket your CPU is, find a faster version or get a new motherboard, ram, cpu, video card as needed

do you have any dodgy software, things like demontools? EA have something built into their newer games that prevents the game working if certain programs are there, though it seems wierd as sims 2 is also EA. Also have you tried google or the EA site itself, there's usually loads of info there.

Exactly, That one was I think F8 @ 8 seconds, took about 30 shots and got 3 with lightning in them. I dont see anything wrong with using an old shot, if you have something that fits use it if you think you can get a better shot of the subject than you currently have then go out and take one. It's one entry per person so we wont end up with loads and loads of old photos. If Dave thinks different I will remove it and take another... Thanks Not night, it was taken as the sun was setting so not a lot of light, it went from low light to dark in the hour or so I was taking photos.

Thanks for the comments Canon 350D I'm afraid although there was a video camera the battery was left at the owners home (isn't that right Chris ) Plus it was pretty short anyway, rain/low light saw to that.

until such time as I/he can afford/justify buying a flash gun! Which flash do you run Chris? I was looking into them as I do get a little tired of the 1/200 sync and it would be nice if it was a little more versatile.
-
One thing I notice about the two which could be quite an influence is the Flash sync, the nikon is 1/500 and the canon is 1/200. This means when using fill flash for action shots you're more likely too get a nice crisp blur-less photo with the nikon. I wouldn't say faster start up time should be a problem, with my canon the start up - shoot time is so quick i can't see why i'd need it to be much faster! Better high ISO performance could be useful as you like night photos but i guess you'll be using a tripod a lot of the time so you may find you never really use the high ISO. I have a 350D and I love it but i've not properly tried a Nikon so i can't really give a great comparison. I'll just say that i love the 350 and the 400 has some extra features to add to the spec sheet. This of course all could be trampled on by one of the far more experianced guys but it's my 2 cents! The biggest problem is there are no shadows or defineing skin tones in the photo you've chosen, you ideally don't want anything taken with a flash. Saying that, there's usable lines around the nose to pick that out. your lips look a bit feminine at the moment make them a bit darked and add some more colours. Get some work done on the stubble and you should start seeing the face appear. This style can be really simple and still come out looking absolutely fine. This was a flash photo and I think it ended up ok especially as it was early in my vector style learning curve. Dan

I'm guessing you've checked google for the common "face vector tutorial" etc? The tutorial I started with was this one..... Tutorial As far as faces and hair go i think practice practice practice is the way to go. Faces are quite easy as long as you get the eyes and lips right. I try and keep it simple and not over complicate the shapes or numbers of colours. The one above looks good but try without the black outlines, sometimes they work but with people and faces especially they arn't so nice. Hope thats some help. Dan

I used it on mine, I used it as an example of being able to get along with people and make contacts quickly and easily. Also used bike maintenance, but can't remember how. Just don't mention destroying walls! Dan
