For me, part of it is he's a pro world championship level rider using what looks like someone who's never filmed bikes. He's one of the best in the world, how hard is it to find a good cameraman?
-
That was filmed really badly.
-
The warranty will be void if you hit it on something though, they'll just say it's crash damage. Only thing I can see them covering is seals.
-
Yeah I thought that, they'd never get away with that, I'm sure they tried though.
-
I can't really remember much about the ones I felt, but they were bloody powerful. Yeah I do like the MT7 caliper but I have no faith in the lever. The whole lever body? How come? I thought Carbotecture was the man? But even if it is, it's still a £400 set of brakes that can't be serviced or repaired.
-
Danny definitely used diggers at one point on his orange Skye too. I don't have my tyres that hard so I need something with a thick sidewall, that rules out everything but Conti.
-
Is there a problem with M820 calipers? Seals or just people using xc adaptors and breaking them? I've been pretty lucky with M810 calipers but less so with levers.
-
The Conti sidewall feels like it's three times as thick as the Holy Roller, it's so much harder to fold it off the rim.
-
Cheers. Yeah I wondered if there was any difference in the power of the levers, I think I'd like all the adjustment anyway though. Are yours as powerful as the Saints? I've had a quick go of the MT7 on a couple of rides, power is definitely there and I like the caliper, but I don't trust the lever. Magura levers have all been shit for a long time now. Matt at Radical bikes got a pair and the day he got them he had problems, something fell out of the lever and the blade was left flapping about. A couple of weeks on and Tom rode his bike and fell 2 feet onto grass and the lever blade snapped. A plastic lever's not good enough when they're £200 per brake and you can't buy spares. I know their blade is alloy but it's too thin and weak. I've smashed my saint lever blades countless times against walls, bent them countless times, and they always just bend right back. So yeah, to me that's like a Saint but more expensive, less durable and just as unserviceable. I like Hope because you can buy any part no matter how small.

I used Holy Rollers for ages, and they were pretty shit, but the DMR moto rt felt even worse. Do yourself a favour and buy the Continentals, then you'll realise how shit everything else is.

Yeah it could probably do with being a little bit bigger, closer to a Zebdi than a Zero, but if the seat can't reach my anus then I'm happy. Geo is 995, +35, 73.5 and 347mm. It feels great, I forgot how light Alu is. Also I just fancied a change, all I've ridden since 2009 is steel Marinos. 6 years solid on steel! On my first ride at Radical bikes I bunny hopped to manual something that I could just bunnyhop to back wheel on my old bike, I thought this was probably a good thing.

Cheers! Well I stopped going so much on the numbers and just go on how it feels, I rode Leo's bike at Tarty days and was surprised how much I liked it, it's just really light and the mega short back end feels better too, you just can't really go quite that short with steel frames. And I've never really been that bothered what a frame is made of. The last frame I broke was a well used Pace rc250T in 2008.
-
Yeah most people prefer the bmx type proportions on a 24" but I think a Console just looks really big, plus this is a higher bb than anything else out there at the mo so if it had a good size seat tube it'd just look a bit tall. I was always a fan of the Orange Zero style frames, straight down top tube and seat stays. It's definitely all nice and tucked out the way.
-
Cheers. I've never weighed anything so no idea, it's not the lightest build in the world, cranks weigh 17kg, brakes are about 14kg each. But the frame is definitely really light, feels really flicky and nice.
-
Got it at Tarty Days but I waited until I had the right chainstay protector before I built it up. It's very light, much higher bb than 'd usually go for but somehow it all works with the super short back end and short ish top tube. TMS Combo Leo v3.

There is only one tyre. Continental air king, that is all.

I must have 4 of the last working M810 brakes, but they won't last forever so I'm preparing for life after Saint. Does anyone use Hope tech 3 trials? I had a go on Leo's bike and they felt great, plus given the size of the stuff he does they must be good. Anyone know if the Tech 3 lever gives any more power over the cheaper one or just adjustability?
-
I hope there's plenty more winter gym footage in there....
-
I love the danger, and the fact that I didn't see one tailwhip.
-
That looks like a MK1 or 2, MK4 and 5 were the ones to have. No idea what they'd be worth though.
-
No point cutting corners on brakes when very few discs are good enough for trials anyway. I had MT2's and they were crap. The front was semi passable with a 203 rotor and better pads but the rear was crap, both had loads of pad rock and a nice big clunk everytime I landed back wheel on anything. Plus being modern Maguras they're made of their new special hydro turbo carbo monster super fibre, which translates as plastic. Never used Srams but they're about as ugly as can be. Do cheaper Shimanos all have servo wave? If not you'd probably be better off with those.
-
Yeah he was brilliant, did all he could do. Pedrosa was so close!
-
Do you know anyone with BT sport? It'd be worth spending an hour at their house! Yeah Tony it's a real shame but unless it rains or something happens to Lorenzo I just can't see Rossi doing it. If Lorenzo wins Rossi has to come 2nd, but if Lorenzo is 3rd Rossi only needs 5th and as Lorenzo drops down further Rossi needs to do less and less, hopefully people get in front of Lorenzo, he hasn't got the best record at Valencia!
-
But Marquez did seem to be acting like a cock, he's also got a history of being too aggressive, he had nothing to lose where Rossi is close to winning his 10th title, Rossi didn't really help himself by mentioning it before the race though. Then again...Lorenzo has been seen being very chummy with Repsol Honda since the incident, Honda don't like Rossi, Repsol are Spanish, Marquez is Spanish, Lorenzo is Spanish, the final round is in Spain and Moto GP is owned by Dorna, who are Spanish....there's probably some bias going on. I just hope Iannone or someone accidentally knocks Lorenzo off. If it rains I think Rossi will be champion and Jorge knows it.
