Got a 26 to build up soon and while I love the Arcade bars they don't feel quite right on a 26" for me, but they've made Trialtech high risers feel really low, plus for trialsy stuff I prefer a bit of upsweep, the Jitsie & Clean bars look a bit better suited, but will they be strong enough? I know I can totally trust TT bars but Jitsie and Clean look more comp orientated and the Jitsie especially is stupidly light. Any experience with these or other recommendations? Basically after a high bar, higher than a Trialtech but with equal or more upsweep.

But I use bigger sprockets on 26" so it just looks terrible when the arm has to point down before the cage rises back up, even with a 16t yours has to bend down to clear the sprocket before the cage rises back up because of the chain length. This is how a tensioner should look. That's a 19t on there, the arm is all the way up in line with the chainstay and there's still no clearance issue. No need to shit around with spacers and all that crap. Yours is only a 16t and you still have to bend it down out the way, if anything hits your tensioner gently your jockey wheel is touching your sprocket. It's too small for your setup.

f**k that. I couldn't even use a Rohloff on my bike, I couldn't adjust it side to side, so you're stuck with one position, which wouldn't work, then the cage was too short to use anything but a BMX size sprocket. I thought mine was pretty shit, the Trialtech one is 10x better.

Undo the 4mm bolt, unclip the spring end. Rotate that and the silver protruding bar down to about horizontal, do bolt back up tight then bend the spring back up and clip the end back into its groove. It'll feel quite strained but the spring is really strong.

Just seen this, looks brilliant! Miss it already.

They were, but they weren't overly strong, not for £659 anyway. Although you could get it in grey for the bargain price of £599.

There were these trials specific ones which went with the Pace RC250-T and its integrated headset. At 420mm they were too long for anything else and felt wrong. Not sure if Akrigg ever used these late ones but Danny & Adam at Trialskings had them, in the "Korn" video.

I had some RC30s in about 2002, I had to cut them down to about 400mm as they were suspension corrected geo, too long for trials. They were really nice and light, flexed a bit, but both v bosses ended up snapping off, got them re welded but then I hit them badly on a rail and they were fatally injured. I don't think they'd enjoy today's front wheel moves.

Ever done a drop gap to a rail with a rear disc on a big wheel? No thanks lol. To be fair it's one of the better disc mounts for that era of trials but it still wouldn't hold up that well today.

Cheers! If anyone's interested, this mk5 is (with Inspired forks) 1010, 393, +5 and I'm guessing 73deg. BB is higher than I remember.

I think I had every colour except the plain black one lol.

That looks too good lol. Just like my old Jamaican one. I had an F519 too, problem is the mountain bike world doesn't use rim brakes anymore and Mavic never catered for trials riders. So most rims now are disc only. A D321 with a braking surface would be a dream. Dmr dee vee is not a bad rim at 32mm. It'll pretty much take the same spokes as a 521 too, and it's way easier to find than a Backline. You're probably best trying to find a new old stock Mavic. Brave machine and fire eye did some decent rims too if you can find any.
-
Same, got a Zebdi coming this week Mk5? You can still get D521s, they're just called EX721s, same rim different sticker. The DMR backline is good for the rear, 35mm wide and not stupidly heavy and it's basically the same depth and shape as a D521 so you can use the same spokes, but they're really hard to find now. Same goes for the old Spank stiffy, 40mm and a braking surface (later one is disc only).

if you could have any of your old bikes again, which one would it be?

Preferred the curvy one Martin Kleivard had in Evolve. Look how short that back end is for a bike that's almost 20 years old. -

Cheers, yeah that was probably my all time fave bike. -
Kept listening longer than I thought I would, I like. Edit, ended up listening to the end!

Na they had unnecessarily long chainstays. -

It was an absolute machine, I had 4 or 5, was my first proper frame after Konas, DMRs and Saracens. But the chainstays weren't great, you can see the chainstay repair in the other pic. ^^ The bottom pic is my first one, pic from 2002. -

Can't decide. The Norco was the worst for trialsy stuff and I broke it from new in about 6 weeks, but it was special. They all gave me excellent times. Probably the Zebdi. Those cranks & mech went a long way.
