add the extra £20 and get a HOPE! :) or get a good condition 2nd hand 1 from forums for like half the price

wihout a doubt, i'd say that V12's are the best "price -life" ratio i'm using Shimano MX30's (DX Platforms) nice and light, but the pins that come with them are a bit soft, think i'm going to have to get some DMR pins "modified" (bodged :) ) into them

Stripped Your B/b Shell?
street trials rider replied to downhill_rob2@hotmail.com's topic in Trials Chat
just get hold of a second hand one as a temp or something.... i'd rather trust a 2nd hand frame than a "super glued" BB :) -
Stripped Your B/b Shell?

bodges are just the final resort, you could just as easily buy a cheap £80 frame to get you buy for a few months... (never know you might get used to it and prefere it, like my mate did with B'cuda frames) SQ bb's are total crap.... *snapped 9 £25 BB's in 2 month :P :- :) * 3pc DMRs all the way !! :- -
January 2005 (this is actually my most recent alothough so long ago) bad quality picture, but this is when i landed on my head from 16ft !!!!! ... knocked clean out, fractured skull THROUGH my helmet aswell :P and it was the safer, :D piss pot style helmet Back-end hung up on the sub-box... front wheel went into the top of the halfpipe, and i kept going doctors say i'm VERY VERY lucky to be alive, let alone still able to walk  went back about a month later to go see some friends.... and it turned out they had to sand half the ramp because of the amount of blood that was there :S
-
looking up, i've got the shortest wheelbase yet, and also 1 of the tallest :S
-
19 years old, 6ft 1".... riding a 1000 wheelbased Curtis :P :S wheel base is just a prefeence for your style of riding... i like street so i chose a short W/B bike just think about what you really want ot be using the bike for, then decide on wheelbase

mkes it a bit easier (IMO) because the flanges are the same size, and space from center, so less messing around getting 2 correct sized spoke lengths (each side) and because there is no dishing involved i found it easier to buikd because i didnt have to worry about it being dished wrongly to 1 side
-
just make sure you only tighten the bolts up to 25ft/lbs.... other wise you risk snapping atleast 1 of yoru bolts alot faster than expected (as i did (Y) ) if you've got the extra and only plan on using 1 gear, buy a CK Single Speed (comes with HD axle + bolts already, and is ALOT easier to build/dish the wheel)
-
(Y) :P :)  lmao, Awsome :- B) (Y) (Y)
-
i'm 6' 2" and ride a curtis with a 1000 wheelbase :P length doesnt really matter, it just depends what you get used to, it might feel totally strange at first, but you'll get used to it

my mate phoned up hope and mentioned to them how impossible it was for him to find the springs on their own, so they asked for his details and sent him out like 10 springs..... FOR FREE.... just give them a call and see what they can do you for :P Or, the springs out of the long shreader valves, i used them for a year or 2, could tell which 2 of the 3 were valve springs, they were louder than the normal hope 1

chris kind headset bought from them... ordered it Monday morning 9:30am, arrived thursday morning 8am I CAN NOT FAULT THEM, they are excellent guys, dont wait! order NOW! :P and as mentioned above, he declairs it as a very low value, so if you do get hit with tax, its only pennys compaired to what it should be

axles are really easy to take out, and they wont really replace them if its a minor thing from what i've picked up from friends if you do decide to send the wheel to them, take off whatever isnt required (tyre, tube, rimtape ,cassette, QR) to save on postage costs they may charge you for return postage, bets thing to do is just phone them up on 01282 851 200 and talk to them, see what they say

nother hope story *gather round children (N) * bought a Hope XC off my mate for £25... after about a year i mangaged to break.... 4 out of 6 disk tabs, snapped the axle, 2 cracks in the spoke flange, and the freehub was mashed to hell... on the way back from a road trip to porthcawl we stopped off at the hope HQ and i asked if there was anything that could be done about this hub, idealy i wanted a blue mono shell instead of a black XC...so I handed it to 1 of the guys to have a look at and asses *he walks off, comes back 5 mins later* "Sorry we dont have any blue mono's, is a black ok?"..... to which i replyed yeah black is ok, and he walks off again, i'm expecting them to just replace the hub shell for me, he comes back few mins later with a full BRAND SPANKING NEW mono.... FOR FREE!.... "there you go, take care, see you later" TOP QUALITY SERVICE!! (Y) HOPE

they covered that in MBUK <_< ??? i aint bought that mag for ages... i found out they worked better after a nice coating of mud about 2 years ago when i ridden through a nice big sloppy puddle (didnt realise how deep it actually was (N) ) and my brake worked excellently after that
