a completely pointless post, which will almost certainly bring NOTHING to the thread.... but i have to say, get the ashton! you really HAVE to dan! ive had my first proper ride on mine today.... and im making stuff ive never been able to on my rex or the hifi, it just feels right, length wise, the reach is as long as a T-rex, yet its a 1050 wheelbase! its just PERFECT. i love it to bits!
-

gona have to disagree about the ratios there matey! 18/16 and 16/14 are pretty similar, but 22/18 is WAY WAY WAY different to the other two! as the figures i posted on page 1 show! i found 16/14 pretty nice, although im happier now on a fractionally heavier 20/17
-
people change gearing all the time. it wont take more than one or two rides to get used to it, as all your really adjusting is your timing on rolling moves...... other than that, it just changed how heavy/light your bike feels!
-
may not be my name on the deeds, but im insured on it, and ive covered more miles in that than i have in the mini! she hit about 130 with 5 people in on the way to the bikeshow last year! shame pete wrights too slow with his camera to take the pic at max speed desperately trying to convince parents to chip it atm......

and www.corsasport.co.uk if you have a corsa!

without meaning to offend anyone.... dont listen to the people claiming 22:18 is ideal! its not, its FAR too hard im afraid chaps! 22:19 is a good gear for reference, this is how most commonly used ratios work out: 22/19 1.1578947368421052631578947368421 22/18 1.2222222222222222222222222222222 20/18 1.1111111111111111111111111111111 20/17 1.1764705882352941176470588235294 20/16 1.25 18/16 1.125 18/15 1.2 17/15 1.1333333333333333333333333333333 17/14 1.2142857142857142857142857142857 16/14 1.1428571428571428571428571428571 22/19 is gorgeous, although in MY OPINION, 20/17 is just that fraction nicer! 22:18 is more of a hard street gear IMO, it makes the bike feel very heavy and not very nimble. an easier gear will make the bike ride FAR lighter, and itll be a million times better on natural! also, the EASIER gear will be better for taps, as you can use much more explosive power, than the more torquey 22/18! to those who say 22:19 is too easy for rolling gaps, your simply not trying hard enough im afraid.... i can pedal gap 10ft running 22/19, which i think is a respectable distance! if you want to go bigger than that, just bunnyhop it! as someone said, its also way way way nicer for short runup stuff! basicly mate.... you can go 22:18 now if you like, i did, and i ran it for almost a year, and found it to be FAR better than 22:19, back when i wasnt so good, yet now my skills and techniques have improved, i find it FAR nicer to ride 20:17 or 22:19 try it if you will, but id SERIOUSLY recommend 22:19 or 20:17

woop woop! i got this vid from dave this afternoon OH MY GOD i think ive watched it 10times already.... i now wish id got a black ashton too! as then i could have ridden like Ali! and i wouldnt have had to die my hair ginger either
-
doods this is proper random..... ive used a set on a ground koxx rim with a light grind for a few days, and tehy seemed fine and did the typical plazzy squark too they were given to me as plaz pads, and i had/have no reason at all to believe that theyre not ive had several sets of plaz pads with grooves in before, its just you newbies that havnt perhaps it could be due to their foreign origin? either way, i dont think ill be getting anymore of them........ proper odd! sorry guys
-
i totally agree ben! i just dont know why it took me so long to realise that! i guess the thought of a small bashring was nice...... but i love my custom rs7 one, so we're all happy
-
well thanks for all the responses lads! but ive come to my senses..... people are saying bad things about both cranks.... tensiles just look ugly and plain to me, theres no style to them! echo CNC are pretty funky, but perhaps slightly overbuilt, and again, not the prettiest! middleburn on the other hand..... have just offered me a brand new set of RS7 arms for £62.50, as crash replacement items for my current battered ones! so ill send my bash to edd to get it tidied up, and get some new rs7 arms, and have the nicest cranks out there still :) all for a lot less money! glad i came to my senses! nothing beats RS7's!
-
come on you gayboys wathc them! theyer good!" i m pised|!
-
i really don see whats so funny.... dave still dresses exactly like that..... and hes still a chav with a trials bike....
-
AAAARrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 after an initial sway to the tensile urban legends, im now back to the echos..... after tarty said they were a bit 'overbuilt' that appealed to me, as im a fat b*****d, who breaks lots of things....also mildly concerned about the thin bash on the tensiles, and thinking perhaps the 8mm bash of the echo's is a better idea for me.... i dont totally know if i like the look of either crank, as ive always been sworn to the almighty RS7, but i think its time for a change! next problem.... Gear ratio? what do i need to run? ive been using 20/17 for the last few years, and would like to stick as close to it as i possibly can, just cant decide which way to go.... 22/19 1.1578947368421052631578947368421 22/18 1.2222222222222222222222222222222 20/18 1.1111111111111111111111111111111 20/17 1.1764705882352941176470588235294 20/16 1.25 18/16 1.125 18/15 1.2 17/15 1.1333333333333333333333333333333 17/14 1.2142857142857142857142857142857 16/14 1.1428571428571428571428571428571 the 20 and 22t figures are just for referance, and i dont want to be running a 16t up front really...... what do i go for? 18:15? 17:15? ones a little harder, ones a little easier
