Echo Conrol 05, Fresh New Updated Bits......
Prawny Baby replied to MrSuave's topic in Bike Pictures
awesome looking bike tom!!!! incase you didnt know... thats an 04 frame, not 05 -
hahaha, youve seen the video too then? still no idea what im going to do with my engine to be honest i know a remap is the best option, and will open up over 200bhp. but right now, £500 is totally out of the question.... however, ive been reading up, and it would appear that by fitting an MBC along with a diode (to clamp the ecu voltage so it cant go into limp mode) i can safely increase boost to 15psi and maintain factory air/fuel ratios! meaning FAST FAST FAST! need to find out more about the wiring though.....
-
tehy look nice james! should go nicely on olis mk2! after much reading around, it would appear that fitting an MBC on ym engine would be a bad idea!as people have no end of problems with getting the boost right, and stopping the ecu going into limp mode i think for now, ill fit a performance recirc valve, and a decent big green air filter, and be done with it. then, ill get a decent exhaust when funds permit, and finally a remap to around 220bhp in a years time or so..... i think part of the problem is, that its SO silent i dont realise how fast im going.... came out of a 30 zone in 5th last night and planted it, and it just started off slowly, then came on boost and just kept going right round to 110 like it was nothing its still pulling like a train at 115 in 4th!
-
you two are both SO small getting better fast though miniman! top job the scene in plymouth seems to have really grown in the last year!
-
sounds funky oli! what wheels are tehy? and what size tyres?
-
£160 for a full set of fitted tyres is TOO cheap.... a full setof bootson mums A3 was £500.... i know its no track car, but you do drive it properly! my old man runs A539's, in a 225/55/16 size, and theyre INCREDIBLE!!!!! dont skimp on tyres EVER
-
id agree with that, edition38 seems pretty helpful! i signed up yesterday are there any audi specific forums at all? or do i just have to tag along on the vw ones?
-
dont ask me!!!!! im a mini man all i know is my audi needs to be quicker, and the brakes need to be better, i totally cooked them tonight!!!!! fu<kers! boost control calve and boost guage next week.
-
generally speaking, thats WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too high! people always said my ashton had a very high front end, and that was 39'', and yes, it was pretty high! on a control you want to aim for around 38'' id say. anything over 40 is just stupid on a control
-
guys, when dan says he doesnt want echos.... he means it! have you seen this guy ride? hes a MONSTER. and has snapped about 2 of every fork in the echo range
-
fred you rock! watching that was a real breathe of fresh air compared to all the other trials vids your clearly still a trials rider, but with so much style! i didnt realise you were that good! awesome
-
because i really didnt want an oil burner freddy! sure, theyre economical and nippy enough..... but a £500 remap on this sees me over 200bhp! which will be enough im sure and tis gorgeous!
-
oh crap! i appear to have gone and spent a whole load of money again! BUGGER! did anyone say.... turbo? edit: id like to point out this is ALL andy P's fault.... totally! until i went in his turbo charged grandad wagon i didnt think turbos served a place in the real world i soon realised they did! and now im hooked

i use autoroute 2006 on my laptop, and it works amazingly! the program autoroute costs around £100, and the 2006 version comes with a gps reciever. the gps reciever has a cable 4ft long, so i usually tuck mine on top of one of the sun visors up high, and have the lappy on the passengers seat, or being opperated by the passenger. as many will know, its originally a route planner prog, like the aa road map website, but much better the new version with the gps pane works really nicely, and has all the functions of much more expensive satnav systems. edit: just noticed mcn are in plymouth! i drove past salcombe road yesterday!

interestingly....... a month ago, i would have SWORN by the 04 levers, as all the 05's i had felt had been HORRIBLE. thing is, all the 05's i had felt were totally standard, on average setups. and all the 04's i was used to, were on very sorted bikes, bled with water, fancy boosters and pads, the usual. then, i rode a bike with an 05 magura, that had had a fair bit of time spent on getting it perfect. it was bled with water, used plaz crm pads, and a decent booster, and MY GOD. it felt amazing! the lever feel was SO positive, as good if not better than any 04 brake i have felt. tarty had been telling me for a few weeks that the 05's were better, and so had Edd, but i didnt believe them, until i rode Ollys planet X, and my mind was instantly made up! i also had a feel of CLS's brakes in abingdon, and the cnc lever blades felt VERY nice, and appeared to be a little longer than the standard lever. my new ashton will have an 05 lever body with a cnc echo lever blade, so ill give a report on how it feels then!

damn you janson! that sodding ep was only 4 tracks long i got rather annoyed when it ended so listened to it another 3 times it rocks man!
-
the problem with that is, if shes doing it entirely to get him to propose, then surely hes only going to propose because he wants a good shag? not because he actually wants to be with her not a good way to go about it if she is doing that

any of you buggers see my drive past the union at 5:30?
-
whoooooooooooooooooa! i thought this thread was dead forgive me for skulking round these parts mini people.... just looking for a little info! does anyone know much about the VAG 1.8 turbo motors? ive heard a lot about the 1.8 20 valve, is this the 125bhp one fitted to the A3 1.8 sport? how many valves does the 1.8 turbo have? any info would be great

couldnt agree more sambo! i often feel like that, and really dont enjoy riding so much these days, its just not like it used to be. but every so often you will go on a ride and do something youve wanted to for ages, and suddenly it all seems worth it again! my first ride after breaking my collarbone was like that, after so long of not riding, it helps you realise how much you love it cant wait for my new bike, and a summer full of riding!
-
man you must be SERIOUSLY heavy! i ran the same set for 2 1/2 years, and they were perfect right up to the day i sold them! mine survived LOADS of massive drop gaps, several pretty serious crashes, and outlasted pretty much every other component on my bike! bigman ran a set as well, and we all know what he weighs his lasted perfectly well too, and never gave him any trouble. i believe they were the bars he was running on his mighty 7ft drop to front wheel crash as well...... and as far as i know, his bars are still going strong on someone elses bike. really guys, they are SOLID bars..... however- i recently switched to Zoo! bars after so long on the onzas. and i really do much prefer the Zoo's at the time, the onzas felt great, but as soon as the zoo bars went on, the whole bike felt REALLY different, just much more trialsy and flickable. go with Zoo bars for sure!
-
welcome to the point in your life where trials becomes fun all over again! good choice GU forks look a million times better than i would have expeted!
-
this might sound a little silly, but what about a production bt6? 35mm BB rise (listed as 45, but i think bigman came out at 35), 1100 wheelbase, MASSIVE reach. ALL the new generation high BB frames have really short reach.... and NO, although getting a longer stem will make your bars the same position relative to the BB, it wont feel right at all. i tried on my hifi, and the long stem didnt help. it just doesnt feel right at all! it doesnt help that all the deng frames have fairly slack headangles, and the BT head angles do tend to seem a bit steeper (no idea what theyre listed as though, they do feel steeper) i personally didnt like the really high BB rise, it just felt too odd, and tapping just doesnt feel natural on them at all! many people have had this problem, although it doesnt seem like an issue on more sensible bb rises like 35mm. also look at the 1100 KOT ms2, thats got 383 stays, a +35bb, and an 1100 wheelbase. both sound right up your street.
-
its not bad is it although.... that said..... i was riding yours in the morning, and really loving it, and it was almost making me think perhaps i should get a longer bike again..... then i had a 30minute play on porters ashton. no thanks long bikes...... the ashton really does rock my world cant wait for my new one!
-
hows the bike going now you've had a weeks riding on it mike? still loving it? it does look very nice
