got my first king hub 29 august 2002, and i can safely say, i wont be running anything else on any stock of mine............. that said, i would definately get one with a stainless steel drive shell, my first disco lasted me until summer last year without a single skip..... it made a few loud noises once or twice when it needed a service, but never actually missed an engagement or caused me harm.... my new king single speed has an alloy drive shell, and you can see very slight deformation on the splines now after 9 months use.... so perhaps the single speed hub isnt SO amazing, although, its still super reliable. makes noises every once in a while, but never actually skips at all. i trust it 100% ive seen several pro2's that skip, fred judds in particular is AWFUL, although he still swears its the chain! rich pearson had his leeson super pimped out with new wheels including pro2 hubs, and kennard went to gently pedal off a 2ft wall and the hub totally missed all pickups and ash came down and smashed richs brand new front wheel..... ive seen too much to trust one. i wont be using anything other than a king again.

tiz true dan..... i think its the short stem, and the fact that you have your bars twisted so far back..... toms feels pretty nice for a short one, but yours, still feels cramped like your aorta. that said, you are 5' tall, so it probably suits!

good luck with the forks

just gone from a zona zenith with roughly 30mm BB rise to a control with 16mm rise, and its SO much nicer..... sub 20 ***!!!!

sorry spode, your a lovely chap, and your rear brake was good..... for a disc....... but to be honest, ive seen it slip several times on you, in just the one ride we have shared, and ive seen the faceplant clip where you disc totally fails. i really didnt feel confident in your disc when i rode your bike. bigman ran a rear 200mm mono trial for a while., and although the power was simply insane, i really just didnt trust it at all. despite riding it for a fair while. the way in which it locked up just didnt feel good at all, and the lever flex ment you had to back RIGHT off before the disc would release to allow gaps and things.... generally, not nice. the few dual disc mods ive ridden have been ok. that said, having gone rear disc 4 times, and ended up back with my magura every time, im really not convinced.

the 04 control frames are listed as 20mm BB rise, so you may well want a slightly higher stem on it.....

wtf jon :S:S its a sodding metro!

sorry to bring up such an old thread. what do you think of the 130x15 stem on it adam? im running a 110x10 hope on mine, and im tempted to get something a fractioin longer and higher. yours felt nice for the 30secs i bounced around on it. just wondering what effect the high stem has on sidehops and taps and such like?

nice one kennard! getting better every week it seems! keep at it matey, soon your gona get old and slow down! lovely vid, see you tomorow
-
looks lovely, although the geometry really does sound TRUELY AWFUL. its bound to have a short reach, be far too flickly on the back wheel, awful for taps, and generally not nice geo sounds exactly like the HiFi with a few mm MORE bb rise-worse geo ever? quite possibly

just drive like an old person job done!

is it just me, or does the word 'torques' which JC used a few times tonight REALLY annoy anyone else? its lovely that is has 1000 torques..... but until we know what units thats in, it means feck all really..... earlier today i was all set to slate philth about his claims of 286 torque, when i realised it was almost certainly in Nm, which converted to lb ft gives 210, which is about what it should have! argh! although i still love the show, its just going a little too 'entertainment show' and less 'car show' for my liking.... they dont even always give out the car stats these days now.... and only seem to road test two cars a week now!
-
awesome! i love the way the ko3 spools up SO fast being such a small turbo! the 208bhp sounds about right, but the 286 torque is in Nm right? being around 210lb ft? 286lb ft is remapped S3 with KO4 torque! still, sounds like an awesome car to drive! im having my A3 remapped in about 8 weeks time, tempted to fit the n75J afterwards as well to get the most from it! do you ever hit limp mode running the J valve? i assume the car was mapped with the standard valve then the J valve fitted? awsome motor, very jealous!
-
now thats a serious spec for a 20vt golf! exactly the kinda thing id like my A3 to be one day..... do you find you get much vibration with the uprated dog bone? ive heard it makes everything shake a fair bit! the N75 race valve is just ECS tunnings version of the N75J isnt it? what sorta boost are you running with that setup? and what turbo? its obviously a DBW engine, is that with a ko3 or ko3S? either way, impressive figures!
