  1. No, Phil seems to think Jardo has half a clue what he's doing. where that idea came from, I have no idea I really, honestly, do not believe that in the slightest. You were not with Phil when he did his manifold, Phil would not have done it in 1hr 10, and had you been there, you would have played no part in the installation, you'd have just been cleaning something whilst Phil worked. Just to give jardo some credit here, he was totally right that Georges efforts were indeed laughable Sorry spunks, but you are a bit of a mong
  2. Installed the extinguisher today: and mounted up the first pull cable: Easy access to check the pressure gauge, pull the pin before a trackday, or disconnect the cables if needed whilst parked up. and a few more fire pics for good measure
  3. I have joined the pikey air filter club: Fitted lfriday night, then today, went to JKM for a dyno day with the boys from Golf GTI. R-tech tuned ko4 golf on the dyno: Rolled 286bhp before splitting a boost hose exactly the same as mine did at Rockingham last year. Jamies ibiza ran: And sadly made just 187bhp before they had to abort the run due to fuelling reaching 17:1 - something very wrong here that we've been trying to chase through logs for a while. It's not getting fuel at all. Not cool. Ticcy came along with a few other people we know, and we convinced him to dyno his stock leon: 183.5bhp, bang on the money for a standard car. Then mine went on towards the end of the day: Jim almost got lost in the seats! A whopping 52.7bhp more than Jardos fastest A3 in the world. Thankfully, that was just on actuator pressure Run on full boost I MAY have forgotten to put a zip tie on the N75 pipe after rebuilding the DV on Friday night. The pipe popped off after the first run and it was trying to run uncontrolled boost as it spooled up. The power line was going almost vertical at 3300rpm and shot past 300bhp almost instantly before Jim aborted very quickly. I realised what it was straight away and nipped a zip tie on there and all was good again Very consistent too, 297.7bhp and 280lbft on actuator at 1 bar, and the 3 full power runs were 327.4, 327.3, and 327.7 bhp on all 3 runs with 335lbft each time. Boost peaking just a fraction under 20psi tapering off towards the top end with 17psi at the redline
  4. shit the bed, that leons had some impact to break a hub like that! I just threw one of those hubs in the skip on sunday too, and a pair of old wishbones. Should be able to get all the parts to fix that for less than £100 easily, and it's maybe 2 hours work tops to fix. Well worth it at £300. They're not the original wheels from the car either. they're from a later leon cupra. Greg: ST2 R sounds good! Have you got a downpipe on there as well with the miltek system?
  5. banded smoothies, that's a new one
  6. I think Jardo's full of crap myself and can see where allen is coming from It's not what you say jardo, it's the way you say it. You've always been light hearted and mildly offensive, which has always been quite funny, but the past 3 months you appear to have developed a superiority complex whereby you genuinely believe that you're better than anyone. Not just here, on audi-sport too, rather than simply disagreeing with someone and explaining why, you put them down, insult them, and generally try to appear the superior, when really all it is, is a DIFFERENT opinion. Not better. It's quite annoying. Just chill out. Internet debates used to be fun. Sorry mate. If this post annoys you, think how I feel to have cause to post the above. And for reference to your 'come back when you've got a mans car' comment, The leon cupra Troyston is looking at has 30bhp more than your car came with, and an identical chassis, so that's a bit of an own goal there isn't it?
  7. I'd say on the whole, ignoring 4x4 type stuff less than 1% of UK cars are fitted with winter tyres. Even less will have snow tyres.
  8. washer bottles are different though I think so not sure they line up.
  9. ^^^this is absolute bollocks. but I've already told him that. Glad you like your filter though. Rainbird should get one, for how silly cheap they are!
  10. Everyone needs flames though Danny Last night on a little drive through some dark woods it did a flame so big (I can only assume it was a flame) that it lit up the trees orange in my rear view
  11. I'm glad that as a honda man you still agree Si, it's just silly. With a decent exhaust V-tecs can sound properly awesome on full chat, but the one above is just offensive. Sangers B18C4 mini with a skunk2 inlet and single box 2'' exhaust system sounded absolutely insane around Castle Combe, properly amazing noise for a 4 pot.
  12. I like honda, they make good cars, and get exceptional power figures from their engines, but seriously, that is SO loud for something that can't be making even 200bhp. It's just not needed. doesn't sound nice to me, just angry. Considering mine puts out 353bhp and isn't even remotely loud at all, it all just seems a bit 'All mouth and no trousers' if you know what I mean? That S2000 though, is LOVELY!
  13. No, but then that makes two of us
  14. I like the focus RS, I think they're fantastic. Sure, the megane RS265 is the thinking mans choice, but the RS is more of a statement, less gay, and has an all round fantastic presence on the road. Ignore Jardo, he drives the same sort of car you see on the school run, as do I. It's all about what floats your boat, and regardless of percieved image (as if you care - you had a scoob!), I think the Focus RS is fantastic.
  15. Thanks mate, that's an absolutely fantastic reply At the moment I'm looking for a few things, a road tyre that's going to grip well but be safe to use in wet conditions and cover lots of mileage, this sounds to be like the hard Tornado in 235/45, especially if the compound is similar to 595's but with more tread, that'd be amazing! Then for a proper wet maybe some 225/45 tornado's in the soft compound as you say. What appeals to me hugely is the range of compounds, crazy cheap pricing, and the fact that they're road legal. I could buy 3 sets of these for the cost of one set of A048R's. Being re-treads doesn't bother me at all either, they're 94V rated, so 670kg/axle and 149mph. My front axle carries just under 400kg per side, and the rears around 200, and I highly doubt i'll be seeing 150mph on any tracks in this land! Amazing find, I'm so glad you mentioned them! Just waiting on them to get back to me with a shipping quote.
  16. Alex those tyres look fantastic, I've just sent them an e-mail about shipping to the UK. At those prices, If they can ship I'll definitely give a set a try! Can I ask what compound you went for? they do the tornado sport in H, M, or S, with obviously soft probably being best for grip but not lasting so long. XR01 slicks look great too, although it's a shame they only do 215/45/17's as ideally I'd like a 225/45 or 235/40. Awesome find, I just hope they'll ship to the UK
  17. Any details on what those tyres are Alex? and how they're quite so cheap? I need some wet tyres myself very, very soon.
  18. There isn't any scientific data that I know of Adam, but I think you make a VERY good point. I often drive more standard cars, and I'm often surprised by quite how much grip they have, they're not nice to drive, they don't turn in well or precisely, and the balance isn't the same, but in terms of sheer grip, they're often fairly impressive. I'd be very interested to see how mine felt with the ARB's set to full soft all round, I may even try disconnecting the rear at some point once the weather gets better. It's something I've thought about a fair bit, and with decent 2 way adjustable qualifty shocks you should be able to tune out much of the bodyroll with bump / rebound settings. Will have to consult Robin, my suspension guru for some more in depth thinking!
  19. if you just want a decent setup to improve things on a road car luke, and don't plan to go silly like some of us do, you can't go far wrong with the eibach F+R kit with 22mm front and 25mm rear bars, I think it's about £250 for the whole kit, direct bolt on fit with no messing, and really transforms the car. If you're prepared to do a bit more messing about and searching, an R32 23mm front arb can be mounted to your drop links using longer bolts and spacers, and then hunt for a 25/28mm rear bar. Truth be told the eibach kit is the easiest solution though. Couple that with some of the cheap ebay coilovers that are hated by so many and it'll be like a whole new car!
  20. meh. I see both sides of the argument, there's a degree of Jardo bigging things up a little too much, I agree, but he's very enthuastic, he loves his car, and has an obsessive personality, we all know that, yet still so many play on it? it does get tiresome. It's a good system, which has cost him 1/4 of what a new miltek would have cost, and it sounds better, and looks less offensive. The actual A3 Miltek system sits much lower than Jardo's new exhaust and looks truly terrible with two massive bling 3'' pipes, Jardo's sits around 2-3'' higher than an A3 Miltek, although still about 2'' lower than a mk4 golf Milltek. The only visual difference, which I told Jardo earlier, is the cut out. His exhaust is tight into a temporary cut out, where I made a neat cut out with 15mm clearance all the way over the top of the exhaust, which was visable from behind, and gave the impression that it sat higher into the valance than it actually did, so it made it appear to blend in a little better. He's happy though, so it's all god.
  21. Massive love for that! Looks pretty insane! I thought I saw Adam say somewhere that it's 600bhp though? Dyno printout shows 458 doesn't it? still pretty life changing power either way!!!
  22. Same plumbed in system I now have Alex Did you install that yourself or did PSS do it? Any pics of where you've mounted the 4 nozzles so I can get an idea? I'm mounting my tank in the same place as yours, just need to get the nozzle locations sorted. Car is looking great Btw, well done on the win!
  23. I have a quick release boss, although mine's a driftworks ball bearing one rather than the splined type, so the locking is entirely positive, and it will not turn the column at all unless 100% locked, the ball bearings and spring loading system also mean it'll be longer before play develops. Worth noting it adds around 2'' to the column length though, so for many people a dished wheel and snap off boss will put the wheel too close. I changed from a dished wheel to a flat OMP Targa 330 when I fitted the snap off.
  24. Holy shit, that's taken a serious beating everything is deformed! Very sorry to see it man. What happened? Hope you and anyone else involved are all OK
  25. was going to say, when time allows, you could cut out your own facias and just cut the needles down a bit couldn't you and have it all normal looking again? would probably only need 5mm or so off the needles to allow them to go back to a typical orientation. Fully working OEM DV in my garage that you can have for free mate. I'll bring it down for christmas.
