  1. It moves! http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/180916-grumpy-old-fat-but-enjoying-it-again/#entry2497584
  2. Argh. Why isn't it working!? Link again: http://youtu.be/x98MaHSWRuo On on my iPhone, so can't tell if is working or not!
  3. So, after yesterday's post about my pre historic relic of a bike, here's a video of a grumpy fat man trying to ride it No video editing software sadly, and just this ghetto camera stand I made today to film with my iPhone: All filmed in an hour after work today, uploaded on stolen wifi from standing behind a hotel I stayed in 6 months ago, and edited on YouTube video editor that I discovered today But I enjoyed it, and that's all that matters Link I case I've got the tags wrong:
  4. what about the saab lump andy is using? think it's a B234R or something like that, 2.3 4 pot turbo
  5. Mad isn't it adam? Trying to sort out a way of editing video at the moment, but my work laptop has no sound card so movie maker won't open, and I don't have a wifi connection here to download a movie making app! Argh.
  6. I'm going to try and make a little video tonight, that'll be funny for you all
  7. I believe either bigman, or it's previous french owner stripped the lovely blue off. And being me, it had to go orange really
  8. you havn't got enough money to keep one car going dude, so I'd forget about starting on another
  9. Very Zenith, Cvar, and anything else like that was a copy of the XTP. I want to go ride some more! it's addictive!
  10. Perhaps not as out of date as I first thought then! At the time when it was released it seemed like crazy radical geo! Does ride perfectly for me
  11. Cheers guys, A few people rode it at christmas and thought it felt old school, but the geo was fairly ahead of it's time way back when it was made. A quick measure it shows it as 1095 WB, 380 stays, and a +45 BB. How that compares to anything modern I have no clue! So out of touch.
  12. So, I'm old, and grumpy, as most of you know, but I do still have a bike. It was a shed: Proper old school spec, 36h King single speed, middleburns, etc etc, and the seemingly bombproof Koxx XTP V-Racing frame from ~2006. Wanting to get back into riding, the bike was in need of a make over, but with cars being my main hobby, I wasn't about to spend much money on it. I attacked the frame with a paint scraper, a true testament to bigmans paint job previously, I think he was drunk when he painted it, and greased the frame before hand to make sure the paint wouldn't stick (love you too ads) It had always rode pretty rubbish with the heavy and standard rake zoo cnc crown forks on there, so a quick word with my friendly parts supplier and these excellent used try-all forks were found: And a new rear rim to replace the 4 year old pink try-all that I had painted with line marker paint: Was a bit of a job remembering how to build wheels again! Came out fairly well though Frame and forks were painted to give it a new lease of life Then smuggled into my office at work: Wheels were finished off with matching orange vinyl rim tape from Jonny Jones: and it started to come together: And it's finished Been riding the past 2 nights in a row, and absolutely loving it again, despite only changing the forks, rear rim, grips, and chain, it feels like a brand new bike again
  13. no, it doesn't it's the body, in which the throttle sits
  14. There was definitely a reason, or it wouldn't have cut out You just havn't found the reason yet
  15. Bike is built. It's awesome, and took SO much less time than assembling a car! Result. I'm off to explore the rest of the forum, apparently some guys on here still ride bikes
  16. In other news, wtf is all this about? Anyone know a decent forum I could join for this kinda thing? Or a decent bike shop for parts
  17. it's motorsport. If it's still running, and you're near the end, you keep your foot in, regardless! Nice driving Alex, what slicks were you on? Looks like they'd seen better days, and the combination of loose / dirty track didn't seem to suit them well at all, although you did well to keep on top of it regardless!
  18. Eeeeeerm......... Oulton Park is faster than I thought..... I think being a Southern Monkey I've got Oulton and Cadwell confused in my head. That looks unholy Adam, 116gps speed over a crest around a left hander @1:45? Christ. Did you ever get that incar clip of me having a 'moment' though old hairpin?
  19. I think what he's trying to say is, more than you
  20. Surely a persian cat is worth more than £6.06?
  21. Silicon / chemical metal the f**ker up Or get one of those taper threaded sump plugs and wind it in until it seals.
  22. Haha, cheers George, I think I had some pretty painful bruising on my shoulders from the harnesses, that never used to happen when I was fat, there was more padding
  23. I like FWD, it's not the flawed mess that everyone makes it out to be. Sure, I don't doubt that when you get it right, in the right car, RWD could well be more rewarding to drive, but the enjoyment for me is about getting the most out of what you have, using something to it's full potential, and lets face it, almost all of us are using our cars well below their true capability here, myself included. I get the piss ripped out of me on north loop for having a wrong wheel drive car, and I get similar abuse for having a turbo, because it's considered cheating, but I started out with a car that was slower from A-B than a 106 gti, and it's now on par with a track prepared E46 M3, and I've done it all myself. That's what I get my enjoyment from, the whole thing as a package, there are many faster cars, but most have been given to a tuner with an open cheque book, with drivers that have been doing trackdays 10 per year for the last 10 years, I can safely say I don't think I've ever been passed by someone who's privately built their own car, infact, I know I havn't, because I can still count the times I've been overtaken by anything on a UK trackday on one hand
  24. The leon is an exception on the whole where a 4 door car looks fantastic. On the whole, where a car is available in 3 or 5 door, the 3 door always looks considerably better. I don't get into the back of my own car, so I'll never struggle. I put things in the boot, not the back seat, so I have no issues with making rear seat passengers struggle. I'd much rather have a better looking car than make life easier for the 3-4 times a year when I have someone in the back of my car. It's a petrol head thing....
