  1. Personally, I'd replace the ball joint as well. if it's been loose and wiggling around like that for a few miles the tolerances in there will be shot at the taper. Belt and braces would be replace the hub also, but i'd certainly replace the ball joint for the few quid it'll cost
  2. I've heard great things about Brentacre too. i tried them for the A3 this year, but they were almost £300 north of the quote from greenlight sadly, who were not at all phased by the power output or covering all mods fully comp like for like!
  3. rear ARB's on a VAG beam work, big time. The rear beam design is a purposefully flexible V shape to allow a degee of indenendance between the two sides. Adding the ARB joining the two sides, and clamping it rigidly to the beam resists this flex and reduced roll. As Adam said though, despite the change in feel, it isn't always actually better, but the balance and driving feel will certainly be altered
  4. Where are you bastards? Just mike and I here at the moment - glorious sunshine!
  5. I'll be there for a laugh come rain or shine What's the score chaps? Standard Copthorn at 11?
  6. always love your videos alex, the car just looks fantastic! Top driving too
  7. I actually think I might have one in the garage at home. No idea if it works or not
  8. Winter is shit. I miss trackdays and using my car properly. Need to buy a set of wets!
  9. would you get the alfa in the 2.5 JTD? the 5 pot sounds lovely!
  10. that, is an AMAZING picture! You'll look back on that in years to come and be very proud!
  11. when you say new S3, are we talking about the latest 8V S3? Not the 265bhp 2.0 tfsi that comes in the 8P S3 and mk5/6 golf R I assume?
  12. hmmmmmmm, my ears were burning.... Oh, and as this is the angry thread, here's something that made be angry today ^^^
  13. DS3000 are full on super bad-ass and I love them. Noisey for road use though, if that bothers people.
  14. Good to hear Adam! Odd question: Does anyone on here have access (and the ability to use!) a CNC machine at all? it's fairly simple, but I'm after 12 slots machine into my disc bells. I have a drawing for it, and it's all 2d stuff, just some simple slots with radiused ends. I asked one company for a quote and their reply almost broke my laptop!
  15. the perforated gaskets just fall apart and blow in no time at all mate. made that mistake many times myself sadly, it's always a fail.
  16. Dan you need to bin that downpipe gasket straight away. DO NOT fit that to your car mate. Cheap perforated gaskets like that are the cause of so much sadness world wide it's untrue! Get a proper OE gasket mate. Also, bikes have down tubes Cars have downpipes
  17. oh, me me me. I've got some like that In fairness, J-rod did machine polish the whole car for me, and it does look awesome. Thanks dude
  18. Why WOULD you? Heavy v6 boat anchor up front and sodd all options to tune it. horribly poor on fuel too.
  19. I'd like to take this opportunity to point out, that you tried it once, at a place named Castle Combe. You were rubbish
  20. bloody good pace for the conditions though Ads!
  21. I see where you're coming from totally Alex. J-rod - Al,drive to the Ring some time and you'll understand, the roads in the Eifel are fast and flowing, and the black top just peels away onto grassy fields with no hedges or walls, it feels very open and free. you can see the road bending and flowing ahead of you and always know if there's anything coming. it's a fantastic experience when you're used to having the hedges defining the roadside so solidly Armco incident looks nasty Adam! Really hope you were both OK and the car is easily fixed I know that feeling when you're looking across at an impending impact, it's not one I wish to experience again!
  22. I got 88 miles around Donington to 52L back in Feb. I think that works out around 7.7mpg Better than I thought actually! I thought it was more like 6!
