  1. Anyone else see Tarty and Bessel representing TF on Motors TV today? Absolutely TOP effort lads! I bet you're both very chuffed Although, having said that..... With the success of Tartybikes, and Adams racing career to date, you'd think he could at least afford a SatNav!
  2. Looking good Alex. painting is a black art for sure! I've never had the patience myself! Just a quick in car clip from late in the day at Bedford on the South / East / North circuit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWicOd6qPTo&list=UUMvpraYm_RLFjfGZaZZ_YtQ I'd like to spend more time on the suspension really, it's SO stable now it's crazy, but it does understeer a touch in the mid and low speed corners, but gives LOADS of confidence to pile into the higher speed corners without fear. I'm somewhere between stiffening the rear ARB, or softening the front, or perhaps both, and playing with damping to make it a bit more lively. It used to be a nightmare sliding around everywhere, but now it's just so stable, i could afford to live dangerously and make it rotate a bit more on request!
  3. GT circuit yea. We were seeing an indicated 145 on the main straight, and 120-130 at 3 other points on track. As again, Jonnys GPS will probably slash 20mph off all those figures and make me look shit
  4. Ah that's a shame, I think you'd possibly find it dull in the MX5. We were taking the back chicane at around an indicated 100mph (I'm sure Jonnys data will make that considerably lower ) , and there were a few corners where I was absolutely flat in 4th, north of 100mph. at 70-80mph in something with less power these wouldn't really be corners as such, so it might seem a little bit of a 'power circuit' Really looking forward to seeing what Jonny comes up with, his videos are always so good! he's pretty busy though, so pics will do for now
  5. A few more pics from Bedford on Monday. considering it gets quite a bit of stick for being boring, i thought it was absolutely fantastic, although definitely one of those tracks that gets more interesting with speed. i think it could be quite dull in something low powered due to the high speed bends and long straights. if Adam is reading this, definitely one for the Westy!
  6. Haha. my next door neighbours nephew works at Eds garage too, he pops round occasionally. The nephew that is, not Ed China
  7. Wasn't a chap called Miles was it?
  8. Correct fuel required 20v petrol turbo engine beats old school 8v tdi - Shocker
  9. Went to Bedford with CGTI Had an AMAZING day, car was absolutely perfect: managed to rack up a stonking 242 miles on track! And Jonny caught almost all of it on his awesome Roadhawk HD camera setup! Top day out!
  10. Alex: I love your m3 to bits. I really, really love it, but one thing has always bothered me a little: M3's are notorious for having utterly shit brakes. you car appears to be very quick, and nicely built, yet it's still on stock brakes? I am confused by this
  11. The above is annoyingly true. modern cars really are hugely capable straight out of the box. I had a few laps of Spa in the passengers seat of an RS250 cup last year, in the wet, and it was frankly crazy. I was still quicker over a lap in the A3, but i was driving the bloody wheels off the thing and right on the edge, where in the megane, it felt like a sunday stroll! Same goes for Jardo's new MX5 i drove on Sunday. What a bloody lovely car straight from the factory.
  12. I dislike hondas thoroughly myself, they're just not my cup of tea, but if you offered me a road legal Ep3 type r for £500 I'd still bite your hand off! Sometimes, a deal can be too good to pass on, even if it's something you don't want.
  13. you probably said EK9 because that's what you'd prefer, Ek9's are lovely. EP3's are driven by chavs Looks rough, but for £500, who cares! Cheap fun that.
  14. I will be bolting them back into my almost brand new Godspeed 330 x 28 rotors, and testing them on the car to see how they perform. if the'yre fine for road use, as I suspect they will be, then I'll be selling them on. not without testing them first though.
  15. Different trigger wheel Go back to selling Fiats to innocent young girls, you're better at it than remembering random road trips can't wait to get the floating setup on this weekend
  16. Mini already had a trigger wheel you mong Wouldn't waste my money on turbo-ing the mini. it'll never be fast. just a bit of fun.
  17. I bought some Ninja Death starts: Just need to figure out how I can use these on the car somehow
  18. Exactly Adam I was going to refurb them before fitting the wets, but we've got a trackday in 2 weeks, and we NEED these to be on rims incase it's a wet one. I may have done a little testing already in the wet, and I can safely say, the traction in the rain is just nuts, never expected it to be this good!
  19. 3 of them are like it mate. Not overly pleased about it at all, but what can I do? Sadly, your pretty wheels were feck all use to me and would never have cleared the brakes, so I NEEDED these back. Sad times I know. nothing a ghetto refurb can't sort, but still a shame, as they were mint when you let it go.
  20. Got a few hunderd miles on the AP brakes now, and we're absolutely LOVING them. they're just fantastic, and soon to be even better Today we had our Pirelli wets fitted to my old TT rims (that Jamie managed to ruin ) These are Pirelli WH 245-620 race wets. They really are rather stupidly good! Never known wet grip like it, it's just insane! Bring on the wet trackdays, we're ready!
  21. Charge it Robin, you have to. I know ''slow is fun'' and all that, but eventually, there comes a time where everyone will want to go faster. Even the most tricked out mx5's are still comparitively slow around a lap, regardless of how fun they might be. That's probably why Tarty bought himself such an epic monster Westy! Dales turbo'd MX5 was only around 180bhp, but that was seriously fast!
  22. engine mount is still the biggest issue on a 1.8T cambelt though jardo. even if left in place. That, and the hydro tensioner which likes to pull it back a tooth when released if you didn't get it tight enough over the water pump.
  23. i HATE cambelts. 17 years of playing with, and working on cars, and i still absolutely fecking HATE cambelts. i do them, but not willingly.
  24. man you've had a rough ride with this one! props to Niki for not wanting to just take your money, and to Bill for offering to upgrade the turbo and hotside like that though. Every cloud as you said last night
