Thanks mate, 5stone 9lb in total was a proper fat git at one stage
-
haha, thanks Dann by the time I'd edited it all together (badly!) i was about 15 seconds short for the song, and it seemed daft to just cut the song off, and music without video seemed wrong, so I added 2 clips from other recent rides onto the end
-
Cheers lads, I think 'slow and steady' is probably the best way to describe my riding these days, with less of the steady and more of the slow
-
So, despite being old, and formerly very fat (not QUITE so much these days), from time to time I do still attempt the odd bounce around. Having got back into it a bit more lately, I decided to take my phone and film a ride this evening. Sadly, the weather had other ideas and insisted on raining on my the whole time. Still, considering this was filmed in about an hour, I had a really enjoyable little ride, and caught it all on film for a change

sad as it sounds, I properly enjoyed that video

One more from Jardo: Car looks nice Rich. Get that indicator back in though, it's making no difference with it removed

Pics of the A3 in this months VW Driver mag, from a little write up about the CGTI Day I did at Bedford last month: Sadly, I can't find VW driver on the shelves to buy anywhere!
-
Totally random pic of the A3's evolution over the last 8 years: 150 > 220 > 300 > 380bhp with a few other stages in between I've missed out, and handling upgraded to suit the power each time Glad I've stuck with it and improved rather than just trading up. Would never have predicted ending up here 8 years ago!

you keep using the term TT? Transmission Tunnel? I can see what it is, some sort of external casing that the prop runs through? Interesting that so much of the box is actually hung behind the rear axle, must have great weight distribution!
-
depends entirely on the car Lukas! I've done numerous downpipes and full exhaust systems on the drive on axle stands. Sure, it's nicer and easier on a ramp, but it's still possible without.

I've answered this one on facebook for you already 6mm spacer.

Good work Paul Adam - I am so eternally jealous of the Westy, it jus tlooks incredible. Robin - bumper looks good. I like it a lot. Will definitely help with the splitter Taken mine out loads this weekend, going really well. Annoyingly, I've just got back from a 20 mile drive of loveliness, opened it up in second exiting a little village on the way home and spun the wheels up, and the ABS light popped on again. Think I've still got a dodgy connection somewhere. makes no odds to driving the car, but the light is enough to make me have a breakdown. can't cope with wrong lights!
-
Alex, you seem to be very up and down with the car lately, what's going on man? it's sad to see It's either good, or it isnt, surely? I realise it's not THAT simple, but you're either onto a winner, or you're not. Past results would suggest you are. You've got a lot of experience with it now, you know what you're doing. I think there are clearly a few issues with it still, it just looks SO hard in the vids, which makes it dramatic and lairy but ultimately not as fast as it could be, and I still struggle to see how you cope on stock brakes. I know you think they're fine, but I'd bet you'd be MILES faster with proper brakes. Really hope you sort it out man. You won't give up on it though, you're don't seem like that sort.

This basically sums up how I feel. mine still has loads of scarrs from my crash, and up close it's far from perfect, but I try to keep it looking presentable. Race cars are typically 20ft cars, not that tidy close up, but good enough to look smart on the grid or flying round track or in pics.
-
You don't own anything that looks shit though! You race car is smart and tidy, your westy looks amazing. Your clio loked mint too¬! Even your blue mx5 was presentable. I much prefer to keep the car looking remotely smart. Just the duct tape holding my air dam together at the moment is thoroughly annoying me!
-
Look at any real race series. You'll never see a tatty car on the grid. Image definitely does matter. it's why I hate the term 'track slag' when people use it about my car. a track slag to me is something that's abused an unloved, with tatty miss matched seats and odd wheels.thrashed around until it breaks then binned off. We all love our cars, but I know from my time driving mine pre-body work repair, it's very hard to be proud of something that looks utterly shit, no matter how technically good it might be!
-
So basically, he's a disgrace!
-
don't say that. Mine expired in September, must get round to sending off those forms!
-
Don't sell it, and you'll never lose any money. That's my take on it!
-
not sure on the insurance thing David, sounds shit though! Robbing bastards. Since Jardo sold his good car and bought a crap one, I feel this thread has been lacking in pictures of black A3's! So, to redress that balance, here are some pictures of a black A3 Battered splitter in need of some work! Captain slow at the wheel!
-
FR is no different to a cupra, just later cars were labelled FR and had the 17'' LCR style wheels as above. Lovely cars. Probably worth £3k on that reg with sensible mileage.
-
not good difficult position man. First rule of building a decent car - don't make it shit to drive
-
how can it be THAT badly off Alex? Surely you can just track it up by eye / string lines, take it for a spin to settle the suspension, then align it all again and be happy
-
could that engine BE any further forwards Going to be a whole load of fun Rich!

Haha, there were a few more clips with you in Adam, and you even got a mention by name too! when you moved up to 3rd and started pushing Amy along at one point! Jonny has edited and uploaded the first of his clips from Bedford somewhere mid afternoon Im guessing (You can hear me comment we'd done 168miles at the point we went out) Jason (Vorhees from ASN) as passenger, low boost for the whole session, lovely dry conditions One out lap, then about 2 and a half flying laps: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-6js5KoqVc Thanks for the vids Jonny!
