yea baby.... 1399 power plant comming soon, anyone want an old smokey 1275 (Y)" seems that people are slowly comming round to the way of the mini! without doubt the most fun car ever made, and also, the only car ever made that actually has its own unique personality!!!! sadly, my mini looks alittle rough in this pic.... sinse the pic its had a roll cage fitted, and 4 point harnesses (Y)

good god bigman! just as i decide to keepo mien as it is, u go and create that absolute beast!!!! i think ill do the respectable thing and leave mine as it is for a while.... but once its tatty, ill be joing the long low and fully silver club again for sure (Y) keep this up and your skills may even rival the frenchman!!!! unlikely, but its not impossible!
-
im just waiting for the twin pot louise calliper now.... and desperately hoping it solves the disc flex issue!!!! its generally worrying the amount it bends, its just so powerful, if it still flexes too muh with the louise i think ill invest in one of those sexy aztec rotors instead!
-
beastly.... although i have a feeling the 2000 lever has a smaller piston as its intended for a single pot calliper.... making this brake stupidly powerful but a little spongey.... only other thing thats a littlw worrying is the amount of rotor flex.... when i stop hard, i can actually watch the disc flex outwards.... could this be because the marta pads only touch the top 2/3rds of the rotor? who cares, the power it creates is quite frankly IMORAL

no no, the shiney finish u see is the metal, simply polished up a lot!!!! and yes, if its unprotected i would imagine it will discolour in time.... the t-rex frames are supplied from the factory in a fully shiney finish, which is not laquered, the front end is then painted and the whole frame laquered!" so the silver rear is laquered.... the only problem is, when people do a home laquer job, it tends to dull and not look so great! better leaving it raw and buffing it up once a month to be honest....
-
well, the first incarnation is complete.... i got impatient as i always am, and couldnt wait for the twin pot pouise calliper to arrive, so did the impatient thing and stuck a marta SL calliper on.... problem being it used to leak.... so it probably still does, and i think the pads are contaminated.... although despite this, first pull, before anythings had a chance to bed in, still resulted in a nice firm locking of the wheel.... with some decent pads.... or just the louise calliper, this could be REALLY promising! its looking pretty pimpy ;p but i cant be arsed to take pics right now.... maybe in the morning, when i stick the king back on :)
-
yea man, completion is VERY close, ive got enough bits to make it up as a single pot brake atm, but my twin piston louise was posted to me this morning, so im going to wait until tomorow.... and set it up finally and properl :D the ebc disc and adaptor arrived today, and the rotor is HUGE! and seems to be very well made, im looking 4ward to trying it out :D pics should be up tomorow if all goes to plan :P only thing im unsure on now is what to bleed it with.... back in the day i bled my 2000 louise's up with water to avoid the dreaded pump up.... i may do that again with a touch of antifreeze to keep things lubed up :P:):- hmmmmmmmmm-super powerful, realatively light, snappy lever.... £50!!!!! bargin methinx

currently trying to cut down an old hs33 unex braided hose! it was looking scabby and nasty, so i cut off all the plastic covering and its nice and shiney and new looking again :- just gotta try and secure it into the calliper now.... as the unex olive is obviously not usable.... going to try and use the unex barbed fitting and a magura oilve if itll go over! then ill have a braided hose for free :D
-
once again, pics dont do it justice.... but the lever is now finished, with an hs33 lever blade filed about to fit :- works a treat! just tested it on an old louise calliper, its snappy and generally sweet :D just needs an rb blade now....
-
sadly these pics just dont do it even 2% of the justice it deserves.... we all need a french friend in this life.... mine, just happens to be rather handy with a dremel and bottle of polish :-:D:D you can quite literally do your hair in it its THAT shiney!!!! getting a rear lever sorted to match i think, its just so cool!
-
ok then matt, that sounds fair.... im guessing from your previous post that steve and i DONT have to ride yellow route? because to be fair, we just arent in the same class as andrei! and really shouldnt be riding against him in a comp! i know id personally be happier staying in red route.... and im sure steve would! its where we belong :D im not elite by any stretch of the imagination :P im simply an expert :)
-
cheers lads, ive also got a plan for my rear brake as well :D:):P which im in the process of speaking to edd potts about. if hes willing to do it, its going to be awesome!!!!! on the polishing front, pierre really should start to charge people for it!!!! he can make just about and metal component shine up like glass!!!! he seems to have devoted his life to polishing stuff and shineyness, god help us all when he gets his car done! its going to be a blinder!
-
soon to have the king back on the back thanks to tarty and no thanks to evolution!!!! also planning a monster powerful front brake :D:D:D see trials chat for details :P:D:D
-
glad to see people agree with me :D i love the quality of hope brakes, but in my experience, maguras have always had that bit more bikte and power, hence the choice of a louise!!! im hoping its going to be awesome, and i see no reason why it shouldnt be! im typing this at pierres hose right now, while hes in his 'polishing room' polishing my louise lever up, it currently looks like its made from mirror glass :P
-
yea man, i always thought the most powerful and bitey disc i had was my 2001 louise on a 160mm rotor.... but the levers leaked so often, i blew up 3 in the space of a few weeks"! which is why im using the far more reliable 2000 lever, and with a 203 mm rotor, i see no reason why it shouldnt have rediculous amounts of power :D:):P
-
morning fellas! for a while now ive wanted to get a hope mono trial, but if im perfectly honest, theres no chance of me being able to afford one :D so i decided to try and make the most powerful disc as cheaply as possible.... i go thinking aout discs ive used in the past, and in my experience, magura discs, the louise in particular, have always been far more powerful than any others, and this is even though they run 160mm rotors.... so i thought, what would be the best combination for a magura disc setup? i prefer the new style twin piston callipers, so ive bought a 2nd hand 2004 brake very cheapy.... giving me the calliperm, but we all know those new style levers are horrid.... so im using an old year 2000 lever, with an hs33 lever blade, all polished up shiney and silver, in time, ill get an rb blade if i can find one, but for now the hs3 will do! so thatll be the basis of a sound and powerful louise disc, but to make it extra sweet, ill be running a 203mm ebc disc with a calliper adaptor :P:D:D the whole setup has cost me £50, and if its anything like the louise discs that come std on koxx bikes, its going to be imense!!!! pics to follow asap!!!!

you may say that, but a mate in plymouth ahs recently gone from a flat bar n stem and mod crank, to a zoo mod bar n stem and 175mm tensiles, and it feels INCREDIBLE!!!!! the onyl way to describe it is like a stock bike! it has all the awesome qualities of a mod, amazing on the back wheel, really tough, awesome brakes due to smaller wheels, lighter! yet the bits you actually interact with-pedals (crank length changes feel) and bars, are just like a stock bike, making it far more easy for anyone to jump on and ride! ITS AWESOME!!!! i reckon more mod riders should run long cranks!
-
haha u better be keeping it dave (Y) and if u DOP insist on selling it, make sure it goes to a bloody good home please!!!! i intend to keep track of my proto bt, and eventually, if it doesnt crack, ill buy it back off whoever ends up with it!!!!
-
give me a call in the week miniman, ill pop round after work and fix/diagnose the problem (Y) i hihgly doubt its anything serious, your bike was mint when i gave it back to u a while back, i can ahrdly see you killing a hub in that time...
-
i never knew u had a t-rex now jon!!!! ill have to chat to you on msn about it.... i must say, i didnt notice much difference when i first rode the rex, which considering how well my bt rode, is an awesome thing! out and about everything feels really nice on it.... although the steering is a touch slower.... due to the head angle, it does feel very stable on the front wheel, and its insanely stiff!!! i loved that bike, ive still got a pic of it saved on my old pc! i wouldnt mind something sexy like that actually.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-gets thinking! i can see where your comming from alex.... ive always been a fan of clean and classic lines.... which is why i sprayed over the lightening paint job on the bt, although red isnt the classiest of colours, all the white and blue lightening on a black frame was a little too busy for my liking.,... hence my original plans to strip the rex shiney and bare! the rex weighs almost exactly the same as the BT in actual fact! both weighing in at a little over 5lb, neither lightweight by any standards.... (other than those in the brooklyn factory!) but these days with the advances in geometry, weight isnt nearly such an issue anymore :) keep the comments comming guys, and watch this space.... this is rex incarnation mk1, as we all know, its almost certain to change drasticly several times before it settles down to be ridden for a year or so.... then who knows

thats intersting.... i personally tink its the design taht attracted me to the frame!!!! compared to the traditional mountain bike two triangle frames, this is FAR more suited to our type of riding in my opinion, the extra stiffness of the double seat tube deisng, with the top tub continuing down to the bb is awesome!!!! this frame is noticably MUCH stiffer than anything ive ridden before, its absolutely lovely and somehowe managed to give things a more positive feel. ashton seemed to start the ball rolling with his top tube ideas, these new frames simply improve on a great design making it even stiffer and stronger! all the newwe frames lately ahve been a bit more weighty.... but thats no bad thing, lets face it, frame snappage is MUCH less common these days than it was 2 years ago, with zebdis snapping al over the place.... sinse the likes of koxx.bt, and new gen echos have taken over, snapped fames have almost become a thing of the past!!!! i snapped 7 frames in my first two years, and not a single frame sinse then.... sure, perhaps im a better smooth rider, but im also going FAR bigger than ever before.... frames have come a long way! and i honestly think this new design or something similar will eventually replace the std frame shapes as we know them... plus it rides INCREDIBLY!!!!!
-
yup :P its JUST the single component on your bike that you can change to change the way you diretly interact with your bike.... think about it, pedals are pedals, flat, spin round.... pedals!!!! bars on the other hand, are our only other direct interface with the bike! and the wide range of bars around means its a MASSIVELY important component, its not JUST a bar.... bars come in so many different widths, styles, rises, angles, materials, that i reckon its vital that you get the right bar for your style of riding and type of bike.... so take some time and think about it.... personally, i was sold in brisa bars and NOTHING else for my first 3 years of riding.... ive now been running pazzaz carbon bars (onza) for a year and i really do love them i must say, i cant fault them, the shape, feel, weight, rise, and at the time of purchase.... price, is just perfect! i love them.... however, ive not tried them on a mod. although i can say a mate has recently gone from base flat bars on a t pro to zoo risers, and the difference in his bike, and infact his riding after just 2weeks is AMAZING! hes suddenyl developed a whole load of talent we never knew he had..... which, riding his bike, i put down to his awesome new bar setup! i also MUCH prefer his bike to another mates setup, which is basicly identical with the single exception of a brisa bar n stem.... the zoo bars feel awesome on his t-pro, so id be inclined to vote for them :)
-
i think you should change the word rough to inspired adam.... ive just realised lately, that while its all very well having a nice pretty bike that everyone likes.... what really matters is riding it to its full potential and pushing your own personal limits in order to become a better rider! and judging by the way my riding started improving again lately, id say its a great thing!!!!
-
ok ok ok lads.... calm down.... i may indeed so a 'funky' paint job.... the question is though.... what colour to do it? suggestions welcome.... i could do it red like the bt was, or perhaps BRIGHT BRIGHT yellow.... or maybe a nice blue.... nothing to garish, i want to to be classy and smart, not just loud and shit....
-
well.... i guess sooner or later a change was due! after a year riding my random freak geometry perfect BT raven 5.0 proto frame.... i decided it was time to make a change, perhaps to keep up with the times.... perhaps for a bike that rides differently, or perhaps just for the sake of change!!!! whatever the reason may be, and im not totally sure myself, i decided to swap my BT frame with Davetrials for his fairly new T-rex. so here it is.... all my lovely parts, onto a lovely shiney t-rex frame, took it for the first ride today, and i must say im VERY impressed! it rides far better than i expected it to, after the mental geo of the bt, i didnt think anything can compare, but this really does come closer than anything thats gone before it.... awesome frame!!!! and despite the toys R us comments, for the moment at least, i actually LIKE the paint job!!!! sadly the way ive been riding lately means it wont be mint for long... but until its seriously battered, i think ill leave it how it is :P:):P sorry to bore you all so much here it is :P just on one more note.... i killed my koxx pads last week and was given a set of brand new RimJam green pads in exchange for spokes and a wheelbuild for matt (whos wheel we killed last weekend) so far, im SERIOUSLY impressed with them.... initial impressions were that tehy were VERY thin, much thinner than any pad ive seen before, but once on the bike, tehy were very poweful within 5 minutes of riding, and worked astonishingly well in the pouring rain all day long, on a koxx rim with an average grind. ive also seen to signs of wear after a whole days wet riding, which often aids pad wear along! no signs of rim juice of anykinda either! really impressed, lets just hope they last!
