nice looking mini, just a shame the place he got it tuned obviously bought their rolling road from the same company who make the trials forum tape measure!!!! theres optomistic.... then theres dreaming.... the mg engine made 73bhp at the flywheel in PERFECT condition, many never made this figure.... the stage 1 kit will not add too much...., lets assume its MINT mg motor with a perfectly setup stage 1 kit.... its only ever going to make 80bhp.... which if were realistic is only going to be 60 at the wheels at best.... in reality, itll be closer to 50 at the wheels im afraid. still a nice car.... this is how mine finished the riviera run!!!! raced a 1275gt all the way from newquay to plymouth at silly speeds :( it overheated and had to pull side just as i was turning off, i got to my girlfriends house, and steam filled the air :o blown bottom rad hose  aa truck home and 20mins to fix with bigmans help  god i love minis!

agreed :S getting decnet boots and suspension to handle the bumps is all about getting the power down to the road in the msot efficient way possible!!!! its not kevvie, its all about making the bastards look stupid! and that is a SERIOUSLY nice car.... wheels are a funny thing.... on a mini, bigger is BAD, the smaller the better for handling!!!! yet on my mums a3, it was running on 15'' alloys with 195 cheap tyres, we changed these for a set of 8x17 tt alloys with 225 continental tyres and the difference is INCREDIBLE, its literally a different car, its much mroe responsive, more stable at all speeds, and the sheer grip on a roundabout is astouding!!!! at the end of the day, its how it goes that counts  my mini did 119mph today :D:D

bill is still around, hes doing down hill and freeride type stuff now, and from what he tells me hes not bad at it!!!! i was just speaking to him on msn last week!
-
ill go along with that phill.... his initial bhp figures and performance stats do seema little OTT what i dont agree with though, is your calculation for transmission losses.... did you say take away 10% then add 10bhp to that? or something along those lines.... theres so much more to it than that!!!! it all depends on the box, transfer gears, wheel size.... my current mini gearbox looses over 26bhp from the crank to the wheels! yet a well built standard box can loose as little as 15bhp, throw in a straight cut gear set and a set of straight cut drop gears and that figure could come down to 10bhp.... thers no way of telling how much a box will loose.... ive heard that there have been mini boxes built with such care and attention to detail that as little as 5-7 bhp as been lost.... general equations dont really work in the auto world do they.... that said, i followed a type R home tonight, and it truely is a LOVELY car on a totally seperate note though.... pete wright now lives about 30mins from me  i see him regularly! madness
-
mental ;):P:S mine are about 37''! thats a seriously high bar dan i didnt mean to offend u earlier.... i personally love silver components.... i jsut cant help thinking those chrome look rims look very takcy, if it were a brushed silver like mavid rims then itd be cool, but tehy do look a little cheap....
-
personally.... just personally.... if i had 8k to spend on a car.... id get a Z-cars mini with a 1299cc hyabussa motor in the back driving the rear wheels.... 170bhp straight out of the box, and less than 1/2 the weight of the civic.... it would quite literally piss all over a type r and an mr2 turbo, 350bhp or not.... not saying 'im going to beat u all' because i blatently dont own a bike engined mini.... but cummon people, you could be more original!!! the civic type r is gorgeous, but NOT massively interesting IMO, but its a seriously well engineered car thats seriously quick. that MR2 is quite simply plain offensive! why stick all that SHITE onto it??? the bog standard mr2 body is AWESOME, instead of ur big gay crap just stick some deep dish 17's on there and be done with it.... itll look FAR better in the end. that just looks ugly and disgraceful! at the end of the day.... if you have all this money to spent ona plastic mr2, why not getting something really special?something custom and unique, not a nice jap car covered in tacky plastic!
-
thats exactly the thing.... knowing what we do about trials we all know its a highly expensive bike, and its such a shame that its been made to look cheap and substandard through the use of badly coloured components!!!! come on, no-one can say that chromed look front rim looks anything other than plain TOYS R US

good god al your fast (Y) im sure it only took me 2 minuts to read the form and tel u when it started (Y) yet youve posted already.... srely u ahve an entry for mate? the comp starts at 11, signing on at 10, so for everyone from plymouth if you leave by 9 you will be there in plenty of time! i always like to be there a good hour or more before the comp starts! last year i managed to totally mess up my bike 30mins from the start and spend 30mins desperately trying to fix it!!!! i always liek to get tehre and have a little play on the rocks and stuff before hand.... just to make sure everythings in order! tiz a good venue this one, providing the weather is good! last year is was pretty slippery, making some of the proposed sections a little dangerous. so all.... its going to take around 45mins to get there, so leave by 9 and that will account for all eventualities!
-
now now lads.... i wouldnt make these things up!!!! u gotta remember ive been into minis twice as long as ive been into bikes.... and anyone will knw you can pick up a lot of bike info in 4 years..... double that to 8 years tinkering with mini's and you can see almost anyone would pick a LOT of knowledge.... couple that with the fact that i have around 10 mini history and modifying books, all of which ive read cover to cover several times over in the last few years.... i also keep a copy of david vizards 'tuning the A-series engine 3rd edition' under my seat to read in the ferry que every day on the way to school!!!!
-
righty then..... it looks like its a case of all out at the wall, and smash the back wheel into it low down and bounce up (Y)(Y):S ill give it a shot when i find an appropriate wall..... one question: i live in a small gay village, and the highest wall i can ride is about 46'', i can backwheel it when needed.... is this too low to start learning hooks on?am i always going to hit it too high being a low wall?
-
somone shoot that man! quickly!!!! your making us all look bad james..... nice to see youve changed your tf name too (Y) now that ur a household name!
-
lets face it, the forks are HORRID!!!! they are just far too long! and tehrs something about the shiney finsh of the bars n stem that looks cheap too sorry (Y)
-
still a vinco..... just a slightly different one to the std.... hes testing a new one basicly
-
maybe matey..... but its not what it looks like:P its how it rides that counts.... and more to the point, how its ridden (Y)"
-
rossi..... whats going on with the bt raven 5.0 stickers???? daves does look lovely.... always has done
-
FECK (Y):o:S that ahrd thing for me.... seems to be getting your weight over the front, yet still getting the front up really high!!!! looking at vids in slow mo, it appears that for a hook of around 4-4.5ft, the bike is only actually around 1-1.5ft off the ground when tyou hit the face of the wall!!!! which would imply that its totally about technique. i can hook sloped stuff easily enough, but i do sometimes catch my pedal.... which makes me think im hoping too high into the hook, as i do really go for it (Y) hmmmmmmmmmmm speed is the other problem.... the faster u go the more scary it is!!!! ah well.... i guess ill just find a 4ft wall and spend a few hours blasting into it until im up!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!!! hooking is my new summer mission for sure! it would open up so much more stuff to ride
-
im Nick Vaughan, previously on the proto bt raven 5.0, and now on the 'common as muck because its damn good' onza t rex!!!! riding red route again, and glad to have some more competition! lets hope we can convince bigman to ride red too, as we all know its where he belongs! sadly, i wont be taking the mini this comp, as its just too low to get in!!!! ill be taking my dads A4 to give me a bit more bike/people space instead!!!! see you all monday (Y)
-
oh my jesus christ tom..... thats going in my sig RIGHT now-funniest thing ive ever read!!!!
-
i would say.... but i dont know if its common knowledge yet....
-
right then lads.... but of a random one, and i know the subject of hooks has been coverd countless times before.... but watching all the recent vids, it appears that the big difference between good riders, and REALLY good riders is front hooks.... as it stands, without hooking, the limit for us mere mortals seems to be around 4ft for getting up stuff to backwheel/both yet when a hook is used, the limits seem endless.... so why is it that some people can hook, and some really good riders just cant get the hang of it at all! i can happily hook all day long on natural, if u find a nice slightly sloped rock, yet move onto the street, and a vertical wall, and even at just 4ft ive not got a chance in hell of getting near it!!!! its just that it seems to be the big barrier in my riding and im really desperate to learn them! i dont need any tips on how to do them, as ive read it all so many times (Y) hit it hard and low, get weight over the front... blah blah blah! i just cant do it! so, unless anyone has any wonder tips that are previously unheard, i jsut want to know how people went about learning the technique>? was it just trial and error? and just how many people out there can hook?> all you people out there who can hook, how did it come about? did you just decide to learn to hook, and go for nothing but for a few weeks?
-
toms still around! and currently sicker than every i hear!!!! i was just talking to him last week.... hes not riding a vinco anymore.... well.... not a vinco as we know it (Y)
-
or you could be different again and get a hope BULB instead of the O SO common XC.... ive been running the same front blue bulb hub for 3 years without a single problem, on more rims and bikes than i can remember.... from trials, to xc, to street and dirt jump bikes ive had.... ive always had the same bulb front hub, and the bearings are still as perfectly smooth as they were when it arrived.... colour is also a pretty good match to my rear king!
-
ive got copies of the poster up in my local chippy now (Y)(Y):D hes also claiming to 'sponsor' me, giving me free food, and hes going to call the herald and tell them all about it! trials will get the recognition it deserves.... give it time still ahvnt answered my red/yellow question matt.... i assume steve and i will be staying in red, but joined by the more skillfull ridesr from blue route, like yourself, bigman, and rob clarke>?
-
tehehe.... good luck on your minis first mot then matey (Y)
