maybe it doesnt like brown joe (Y)
-
KOT MS2! plus 20 rear internal disc mount, and a +40bb....
-
its not a new brake adam, its your old one! glad your liking it noz, i found the levers are generally a little bit more flexy on trials than other hopes.... due to the piston sizes i THINK, as the master is smaller in relation the the slaves, because the calliper has bigger pistons! dont hold me to that though (Y) once its bed in and working nicely you dont notice the extra flex when riding
-
hey guys, i may come along! had a ride in soton 2 weeks ago but it was pretty wet! whats the weather looking like? if its dry i think ill come along (Y) see a few new faces.... what time we meeting? and where?

-
i want one, but echo are queer and only make them in 32hole (Y) anyone know the special spoke lengths to build a 32hole rim onto a 36h hub? ive seen it done before ;) are tehy going to make them in 36 hole at all? i really dont see any advantage in ofering them in 32h only :S:S

i wouldnt believe that a bent subby can be the cause of your problems mate.... a bent subby could be the cause of it not going into 1st and 3rd, or 2nd/4th/reverse. but not all of them the only way a bent subby can do such a thing is if the box has moved forward in relation to the selector housing under the gearbox.... and even if it has, because the two are linked by the top rod anyway, its VERY unlikely :P my flame started off life in 1990 as a john cooper conversion car as well! awesome little car you got there mate.... if its a 90 itll be on a nasty verto clutch as tehy all were after about 82ish-soon after the introduction of the metro :) (sad times) the arm is the litle short arm thats being pushed by the master cylinder.... to find it, go directly above the clutch pedal-thats the master, follow the pipe to the slave cylinder, and you will see it pushing a small rod about 3'' long, sloped at around 45 degrees, and parallel to the alluminium flywheel housing end cover. whip the rod out and tap a thread onto it, then stick a few nuts on the end and ur sorted! try that, and give the system a good bleed before you spend ANY money!
-
before your all suggesting changing the clutch.... id seriously suspect a hydraulic problem.... give the system a good bleed through.... the light all the way until the last bit IS a due to air in the system, as the first bit ur pumping it just compressing the air, then the last bit it actually moves the clutch arm. if it doesnt work fine after you have given it a bleed, a really simple and easy quick fix is to 'extend' the clutch arm. i did this on my 1380, to give me an adjustable clutch feel! what you do, is remove the clevis pin holding in trhe clutch arm, and then removed the arm. then get a 5/16ths UNF die,and cut a thread onto the last 15mm of the arm. onto this you can screw two 5/16ths (1/2'' spanner) nuts, using one to lock against the other. this is just enough to effectively extend the clutch arm. which ususlly gives enough throw to disengage the clutch properly.... works a treat! ive done it as a bodge on many minis, then, when i didnt like the feel of my new clutch on my 1380, i had the idea of using it to make the feel adjustable. i just tapped the thread onto an inch of the bar, and used the two nuts to make it completely adjustable! works a treat.... its VERY unusual for the 'fingers' of a verto clutch to wear out.... the plates usually go way before hand.... and if the car is running a pre verto clutch (as ALL proper minis should be-its just a better system!) then it wont have any fingers at all, just a diaphram spring. good luck in getting it sorted mate! i dont remember what mini you drive.... and i cant check now as im home using dialiup >_< i seem to remember it being a 97/98 mpi.... if so, good luck! my 'bodge' really does work a treat though, and i think goes a long way to improving on the standard setup.... i still say its hydraulic, but if it isnt, extending the arm will give you a fair few thousand miles of use before oyu need a new plate!

High Bb Frames-a Few Months On-whats The Verdict?
Prawny Baby replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
i personally think the HiFi stem looks FAR too tall :P it looks horrid something like a PZ31 with 15mm of spacers underneath would look and feel better IMO! -
they certainly are mate :P and they read a lot like my 'stuff to buy' list! frame prices are no mistake im guessing-the trials world has finally realised that £400 for a frame is just too much!

High Bb Frames-a Few Months On-whats The Verdict?
Prawny Baby replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
well im decided now im going to order a HiFi as soon as possible, along with a set of HiFi forks ive picked up a pazzaz stem (i THINK the old pazzaz stems are the same as the 120x17 pz31 isnt it?) which as ad said will give me roughly 35mm height over my current stem, so running it with 20mm of spacers should feel about perfect, but due to the spacers, and not a higher stem, ill be able to have a play around and see what feels best! i have a feeling ill end up with 10mm of spacers below to get it about right, judging by dans. you can run a 20t ring on a HiFi with a 128mm BB cant you? (isis that is) -
High Bb Frames-a Few Months On-whats The Verdict?
Prawny Baby replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
i can see the arguement for both.... but you could also argue that a std bb height frame with the stem run upside down should feel like a high bb frame.... it doesnt thought! i think you need to raise the bars such that the bar/bb relative positions are the same as a zero drop bb frame with a reasonably low bar (say around 37'') i can explain why, but the high bb bikes ARE definately easier to bunnyhop, even with a bar/bb setup the same as an equivalent zero drop bb frame.... the thing i really noticed going from my rex to dans HiFi, is that although my rex is great on the backwheel, its quite slow to come up, whereas the HiFi came up really fast much like a short bike! yet still had all the awesome characteristics of a long uci style traditional frame -
twas a really god day actually! despite the horrid rain until 1pm, after that things cleared up and it was a great ride! dan jones and nick manning are a little on the insane side.... tapping things i can barely see the top of ;) top ride! dans HiFI was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo sexy

High Bb Frames-a Few Months On-whats The Verdict?
Prawny Baby replied to Prawny Baby's topic in Trials Chat
you talking about me al? i was never thinking of getting a bt6! it was a brief possiblity, until i rode bigmans ;) its just TOO long :P it seems that the High BB frames are more popular than i thought! all this praise has certainly convinved me, i think ill be ordering a HiFi as soon as the funds allow! right now im off to call bikedock to sort out a warranty on some forks.... ;) wish me luck! cheers guys -
as much as i love you dave.... i beg to differ.... my rex hasnt felt too great sinse i stuck the pure forks on it.... at first i didnt think there was a difference with the extra length, and it actually felt quite nice for taps.... but when it came to sidehops i found things had gone totally pete tong.... and ive not been able to sidehop my bike properly sinse! i PERSONALLY dont like 415mm forks.... its just a bit long ;)

i waited till i did my engine swap then while it was all out i repainted the subframe and did the entire engine bay as well as ALL the ancillaries while it was apart

hey guys.... now that High BB frames have been around a few months, i was wondering what peoples opinions are on them.... we all know that certain people love them, and certain people hate them.... but whats the general thoughts? after noticing how stupidly cheap frames have become lately, ive decided its time for a change. i was all pretty much set on getting an 05 control 1085, until today when i rode southampton.... dan jones was there on his new Echo HiFi, and after telling me that i would probably hate it, i had to have a go, and i absolutely loved it!!!! i really didnt expect to like it after Ali C ditched it so quickly.... but from what i can tell, its a very trials frame, that feels awesome for gaps/taps/sidehops, yet also allows you to bunnyhop and manual really well, despite its 1085 length.... Dan (and another guy there on a HiFi) seemed to think, that the reason people dont like HiFis, is because they are running them with the reccomended High rise stems.... he was running a pazzaz 120x17 degree stem, and his bars (with echo flat bars, 120x17 stem+hifi forks)were infact the same height as mine are on my rexwith a 120x6 stem and pure forks.... yet his bike felt amazing (Y) so now they have been around for a good 6 months or so, what do people think of the new generation of High BB frames>? the HiFi in particular.... im REALLY temped to be differnt and get a HiFi, it just felt awesome! just wanted to get peoples opinions on the whole high bb movement really.... fire away!
