    Diy Wheels

just finished building my wheel. I tried to follow the guide in wikki, but i was a bit unsure about it, It tells you to start to the right if the valve, but in doing so it means that you are putting a spoke from the drive side of the hub, in to a hole on the opposite side of the rim (as the spoke holes are not in line, they alternate from one side of the rim to the other) if that makes any sense. I ended up just starting from the left and twisting my hub the other way. I used my other wheels on my other bikes in the end as a guide. Did any one find this when they built your wheels? Oh and i did also try flipping the rim around, but the holes were still in the wrong place.

    Diy Wheels

Hi, has any one had a go at building their own wheels? Have the wheels you've built lasted? Basically I've just ordered a new rear hub and rim, spokes, etc and I'm not to keen on having to wait two weeks to have it built, as could do with it now. Not only that, Im thinking it can't be a bad thing to be able to build my own wheels. I've had a good look at the wheel building guide on this site, are their any other good guides out their?
  5. Is it the danny holroyd? I have one it's a right sod. Only this morning i bust the free wheel for the second time in two month's think it's because, it has horizontal drop outs, which means you have to have the chain quite tight, which puts a lot of pressure on the bearings in the driver, and if you have the 24seven hub like i do the bearings are really thin. As i was pushing it home i thought about running a free wheel on the front. I think their much tougher than the rear free wheel i have at the moment, but I think I'd have to buy a new back wheel as well. Oh and I think your much more likely to get your jeans dragged in to a front freewheel. Just out of interest what length stem are you going to run? I can't make my mind up if mine is long enough, its a 90mm.
  6. Seriously good idea mate. hope it makes it on to the site.
  7. Could you not get one to some where near sheffield and swap to a train that dose. Sundays are loads better anyway because a lot of places are shut and theirs less people to move you on. Are their any trains that go to chesterfield?
  8. When i try and watch videos on the forum, it is fine for the first video but half way through the second video it seems to freeze up. I've got quite a good computer, i think, and it seems to be fine on any other video watching websites. Dose anyone else have this same problem? Any one know how to sort it? or why it is happening?

  15. [quote name=bob dmr' dso d I went and bought one. It was all the local shop had in anyway. It was a lot easier to fit than i thought it was going to be but the joints seem to be a bit sloppy, and i think even after its first ride it might of stretched slightly, but that could of been the chain tensioners, it sometimes happened with my old chain. On the plus side the bike feels nicer to peddle, and the free wheel runs a lot smoother. Perhaps if i wasn't esperate to ride today I'd have waited and got a decent standard chain. thanks for the infoate='Jan 12 2008, 09:15 AM' post='1458105]
  16. Don't suppose any one's riding sheff today?
  17. Anyone run a half link chain? what do you think to it? They look quite beefy, I'm thinking that they might be a bit stronger than normal chains? I have horizontal drop outs and single speed on a 26" frame.

    Drop Outs

Anyone out there have horizontal drop outs on a 26" frame? Do you find your chain won't stay tight, and when it is tight, with your cranks in one position its loose or even to tight when you move them in to a differant position? You come up with any solutions?
  19. Anyone mind a novice tagging allong? If not then I'll try and get.
  20. Anyone know where there's any good trials/street videos i could prhaps get some tips from?
  21. Hey I've just bought a "tensile" booster, if your gonna get one, dont bother with this one. It works but it's massive and heavy, and at the risk of sounding like a tart, it looks rubbish to.
