Hi, yer grindong your pads is not the best idea, the only time i would ever do anything to my pads was if, they were brand new and they had a shiny film on them, but then i would only use sandpaper or sumthing to rub it off The ground rim would give enough resistance and also you be going through pads like theres no tomorrow. Hi mate, i brought a monty kamel 221 20' about a year ago (costing 1700pound) and now after a year of riding i think im going to move to a 26' stock, as i found the monty to sharp for me, and i like a smooth ride And plus for me personally i like the idea of having a larger room for error when gapping onto poles etc.. the larger wheel allows a larger margin for error, if you see what i mean, it gives me more confidence as im self employed, so if im injured, no pay! Well thats how i think of it anyways. Also im 25 years of age now, i should grow up and ride a larger one now. So my advice is, really try all three types 20',24',26', if possable and dont go getting the top of the range one untill you have been riding a year or so and know abit more about how you like to ride. thats from my experiance so far, hope this helps. Dean.

Trials Technigue Help!
Dean_Monty_Kamel replied to Dean_Monty_Kamel's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
yer i can understand, most people hop that way, and i can see the advantages to it. how long did it take you shamus to re-learn to sidehop the other way, did it feel totally alien to you when you 1st tried it? as it does to me. theres so much to learn! lol yer im still workin on the gaps, think ive got sore hips from practacing to much, so having a few days off and goin to start fresh nxt wk! lol with the gaps, doin it the old skool pedle way(from standing and flat) i was doin about a bike length. and now im learning the "new way" im already at the bike length distance, but its totally tirering me out, i think because my technique is rubbish still. how about you? dean -
Trials Technigue Help!
Dean_Monty_Kamel replied to Dean_Monty_Kamel's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
hi guys, im not sure what to do now, like what simpson said "Neil Tunnicliffe does hop on the right side and has his right foot 4ward" and he seems to have no problem with it? so do i go with whats natural or change it? im on the fence now, think ill work on both and see what happens, when i practice side hops, ill try and so the same amount on both side, at different heights though! but watching neils vids on youtube has made me re-think about totally changing sides! whats you opinions? dean -

Trials Technigue Help!
Dean_Monty_Kamel replied to Dean_Monty_Kamel's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
ok, all these tips are handy lads, im going to try and persevier with hoping right and see how it goes, and with the gaps, i think i was getting my rear wheel to close to the edge, so when i drop the front wheel to load it slips of the edge. im going to spent all day working on it in the sun! oh has anyone rode the south bank in brisbane, thats where i am at the mo, and its the most amazing place to ride with with rocks and street allover the place and what i love is the water stations dotted all ove the place case you get thirsty! highly recomended is anyone his oz! thanks again guys! dean. -

ok thanks guys, i though i was alone with my dilemma, but obviously not. what about the gapping technique? do any or you gap like how i was told? -
Hi guys, hope you all good, can i ask a few questions? Ive been riding with some pretty decent trials riders over in australia, they know there stuff and are pretty good and they said i side hop the wrong way for a left foot forward rider(i currently hop to the left), it makes sence in what they say as when you get over bar height its easier to tuck you body up with out your peadle gettin in the way, and also i can kick with out the peadle getin int the way. ive looked on all the vids and stuff and everyone who rides left foot forward hops to the right. but hoping to the right for me is like totally wrong, but when i get over bar height, will i be making things more difficult for myself if i dont break this habbit early? Trouble is, ive just started hoping to the right like everyone else does, and i can barelly do 2pallets atm,as this i soul destroying and i was getting almost to bar height hoping to the left. am i goin to have to crack on with right side hopping? is this best for the long run!? Also, they totaly changed my way to gap things, they say the way i do it is the "old skool way" meaning i do a pedle kick before the edge and use the kick as my main power, these guys told me the "new skool" way which is to get my wheel as close as i can to the edge, pretty much in line with my rear hub, then drop the front wheel and that will compress the tyre on the edge, allowing me to spring forward with the bounce from my tyre and alot of lifting and forward movement, they say this is how you get big gaps nailed. he was also proving the point by telling me about a guy who can gap with no chain. but again when tying this im finding it totaly exhausting and not gettin much distance, again will it come with practice.? at the moment, i feel like im taking few steps back, but will this be right for the long run? any advice you be much appreciated guys. dean. oh and ive been riding about a year myself, i ride a mod.

Double Disk Or Double Magura
Dean_Monty_Kamel replied to t-bird tom's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i ride double disks now and now they have bedded in they work lovely, no noise, but i have bent both of them agains walls etc.. which i had to try and straigthten back again, its pretty easy to contaminate them aswell i found. they havent let me down yet, but my rear disk is contaminated now and slips a bit, im going to sort this out when i get my new rear tyre today. dean. -
i agree with this comment! ive had this since i was 16 im 25 now a i still watch it to get tips and just have a laugh sometimes, to remember the old days riding in air max and reebok classics! gd old days!!! with advice on riding, just watch lots of vids and to get high at side hops, just loads pedals and sink your bum right down to your back wheel then EXPLODE up and pull up with your bars! dean.

ah ok! nice idea! might try that! thanks! dean.
