  4. Nah, good question, too thick it turns out, i could of gone about half a mm thinner, which dosent sound alot, but when you think of it, it would of saved alot of weight. However, i have just bought a lot of aluminium, enough to make 3 frames, so i'll keep everyone posted on what happens . Cheers, Josh.
  5. Looking rather swish How are you finding the rear rim? Any obvious problems with it like? I've been looking at getting one, but havent seen anyone except the atomz boys with them. Cheers, Josh.
  6. Turning some spacers I'd do this chris ^^^ I've had to do it on my non drive side crank because of stripping problems, worked a treat . Josh.
  7. Fair enough, but i would say that the pictures dont do it justice, i'll try and get some pics taken with a decent camera . Cheers, Josh.
  8. Hadn't thought about forks actually Tis indeed, welder fabricator, on my advanced apprenticeship atm . Yeah, theres a seat tube, have got some pics, will put them up later on . Only got the brake mounts on it yesterday, had a little play outside the workshop and is feeling good so far, but need to take it on a proper ride really. We havent got a roller here, only a rather crappy little hydraulic bender. Ritey o, will probably be doin the normal leicester ride on saturday if you fancy it . Should be some more pics up tonight . Josh.
  9. Well, we havent really got the perfect kit for it, we've only got a quite simple pipe bender, really you'd want to roll it . I had to pack the tubing with sand, trying to get it as compact as possible to stop the tube from crushing, then it was pretty much bend it and check it against my drawing until its at the right angle Quite simple, but efective. Yeah, the carbon had to be bonded into the top tube. But the glue wasn't exactly prit stick . Cheers, Josh. Oh, and i might look into it, but this has been a week of 13-15 hour days and weekends, so its quite a big ask to start making any big quantity of them like, but we'll see.
  10. Electrolysis ( I think ), hopefully the glue will stop it from making overall contact like. Lol, its very strange sitting down on it with the dip there. Cheers, Josh. Yeah, i have had a problem with the seat stays, but has been resolved now. There is a seat tube, its just a bit small, not much space down there . Cheers, Josh.
  11. I'll get some better pics up of it tommorow, but i can asure you, that'll be the last place it'd die . Gona sort out the whole brake mounts/booster tommorow, will try and get some riding pics out before the end of the week . Oh, and forgot to put in the first post, the glue is simply awesome, when the frame was still in assembly you could quite easily press the top and bottom tubes about 10mm closer together. With the glue, no movement at all, very impressed with it. Cheers, Josh.
  12. Yeah, didnt have the seat tube in at that stage like. Probably looking at around 200-220, 140 for materials and a good few hours work, think that sounds about right . New pics up you'll!!! Josh.
  13. Technique and working temperature Nah, not really, under 2kg would be nice just fancied something a bit flowy rather than straight lines all over the place Would love to, have come up with some more ideas, will have to have a play with them first like, have a go when we see each other next, see what you think . Cheers, Josh.
  14. well, i just wanted to have a play with it really, thought it would be something out of the norm . I went down to +50, had a look with it lower and it just didnt look like what i had in my head if you get what i mean. It'll either be rather nice and flicky, or just cramped and a bit rigid, so we'll see what happens . Cheers, Josh.
  15. Firstly, thanks for all the comments guys . I thought the same thing at first, but after searching the interweb for quite a while, araldite 2021 came out whe highest peel and tear resistance, which in this case, is the most important function of the bonding. It's not your standard mix with a stick jobbie either, cost me £45 for that little bundle, was looking at over £100 for just over double that. Should have some more pics up soon, im jigging the whole thing up as we speak . Cheers all, Josh.
  16. How do all, thought id put this up on here before i change to my new frame- Had it for a couple of months now i think, just seems a bit too long for me. Specs pretty simple- Trialtech bars and stem Viz forks Trialtech on because rear Mavic on hope front echo sl cranks rear maggy Front bb7 Let me know what you think Cheers, Josh.
  17. Looks nice, rides nicer, we'll be there normal time . Cheers, Josh.
  18. Bronze welding and brazing are two different things . Did think of it when i first started drawing it up, but really prefer the look of tig. Yeah, i was thinking the same thing, it might well change when i jig it all up . Cheers for the comments, should have some more pics up tonight with a bit of a surprise . Josh.
  19. Lol, nah, do alot of fabrication, will normally see some kind of welder in the background of my photos . I tried getting hold of 4130 (cro-moly) but it ment alot of ringing around and getting quotes, so i just went for mild seamless, should be more than strong enough for it .
  20. Tig'ing it up, mig would probably look a bit out of place on a trials frame, but i'm sure you could if you didnt have a tig. Josh.
  21. Dont think the health and safety man would like that one bit. Very strange advert though.
  22. Yep, steel for the moment, will move to ally when i've got a bit more experience with it. Pretty much the kamel, lol, just really like smooth curves in a bike. 1065, +55, 375 is what im thinking, have got an echo control 09 atm and just finding it quite long. Cheers, Josh.
  23. How do all, I've been thinking of doing my own frame for a while now and have finally got round to starting it, so i thought i'd pop some pics up on here before it's complete Let me know what you think, but hopefully sometime next week i should be able to put a bit of a spin on it, so watch this space . What i started with- Bit of a different headtube design- Drop outs after shot blasting- Frame so far- This will become a stock btw, only had mod forks and stem lying around the shop. Rite o, before i put these up, i'd like to say that this is pretty much an experiment that i've been wanting to try for a while. I know about the whole stresses business, so please dont start jibbering on about them . After nearly two weeks of waiting, the final piece got here today, so have a gander and let me know what you think. And what i like to call "the golden glue" mainly because you feel like james bond when putting it together - Ritey o, been working on this all day pretty much, not a huge amount left to do, seat tube, brake mounts, gussets, so its looking good. Hopeing to have it fully built up by the end of the week, so the next update will be a fully assembled and hopefully working bicycle . So, finally got it all glued up this evening, not happy though, as i somehow managed to glue the carbon in on the piss , but seems to ride fine, so we'll see what happens . Here she is, the first of the JAF bikes frames, the Jarbon- Let me know what you think, me, im not entierly happy with it, but everyone learns from thier mistakes . Have already got some plans going for a mod, which will be a bit simpler, but, again, with a twist Finally got it sprayed up yesterday, would of loved to keep it bare steel, but just couldnt get it looking clean enough, but anyways, its fully built and ready to go! Cheers, Josh. Cheers, Josh.
  24. How do all, me and Flipp will be at the courts around 11ish . Short notice, but anyone joining? Cheers, Josh.
