Thanks guys! My problem is more at how can I lift the bike higher though.I can easily sidehop small obstacles (50cm and lower, around 20 inches) but it seems that for some reason I can reach only there, not higher.I have also tried to have my arms fully streched during the preload (I have read that it enchances the height of the sidehop in a previous topic). Sometimes, I achieve to lift my rear wheel further and do about 60-70cm but I do it only by luck. And this height (60-70cm) is also too low for a proper sidehop and my confort with the bike. I should reach higher shouldn't I? How are sidehops of 1m+ (or 40inches + ) are achievable?

Hi everyone. I know that many topics like this have been posted, I mean from people trying to learn a new move etc..., but I really have a big problem with this one for a long period of time. I ride a stock trials bike almost for 2 years.I have learned everything alone by watching videos on trashzen or here. I am in a level that I feel really confortable with all the fundamentals of trials riding. But for some reason I just can't sidehop correctly and I don't progress during the last 2 months. My personal record until now is 72cm (or 28,34 inches) over a rope from a rear wheel sidehop. This record seems to be to pretty easy to beat from many of the ''quick lerners'' here. So...there must be something I do wrong... I don't know how much these are affecting someone's riding but here are my personal statistics: Weight:67kg Height:1,75 m (68,89 inches) I captured some clips of my sidehops to compare them with other's and see why I fail, and notices that I just can't lift the rear wheel as much as the front.I have tried to put my weight more to the front after the kick but then I loose height and can't jump high enough to clear the obstacle. Is my record too pathetic for my experience? (I ride almost 5 days in a week for 3-4 hours, and I can gap really well) Is the method of sidehopping over a rope good for learning the technique or should I try it at obstacles of the same height? How can I lift the rear wheel higher (to the level that the front is)? Everything else that you found helpfull when you were in the learning process of this move? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks Nick

Both video and bike are just perfect!!! I would like to see more of you on this bike though as this video was really short... Waiting for another one!

I believe that the better option for you (price and quality) is the Tensile Freewheel Combining this with a good pair of cranks that have threads (so you can have a FFW setup) and a 15t or 16T screw on spocket on the back. I personaly use this freewheel and it's excellent, very reliable and it's gonna last. I haven't heard that ACS Claws skip but I think that 36 engagement points are not so efficient, and maybe you will feel the need to change it and buy one with more... So...I think the Tensile is the best choice

I really enjoyed the video! Nice music too it fits the style of riding!

Awesome!!!! Congratulations Andrei!!!

Really really good!!!Really enjoyed the video! I'm riding almost 2 years and my sidehops are crap compared to yours. Are you training alone?Or someone from your area taught you the moves?

Koxx is much more likely to snap than Onza believe me

I have heard than the more carbon the steel has in it, the more strength it has and the more non-flexy it becomes. I'm not sure what grade of steel marino uses though... Hope you got some clips with that bike before this happened.

Really nice drawing Ali. Are these scaled down drawings of how the real frame would be? I mean...have you measured the length of the tubes, the angles, the wheel size etc....based on ''real'' dimensions? I really want to get into these as I'm taking sketching classes and have much experience with graphic designs too...

Really nice bike man! I love the colour scheme! And...Onza Smart Guys are some of the strongest alu forks out there...they are going to last for sure

Awsome video really enjoyed it!!! Nice style and nice music too!

Impressive I would say... The pads seems to be top quality and they hold really good in wet conditions... Maybe I'll try a pair of those when my pads wear out

I agree! Nice bike man, very nice colour scheme

Hello. I am in need of new grips and I am not sure what to choose:foam or rubber. Can someone explain the advantages and disadvantages of each type? Or is it only a personal preference for every rider? I would also like to know if there is a solution to the sweat ''problem'' I ride with gloves but my hands sweat and I can get enough grip with the handlebars. During my last rides I noticed that my hands were slipping from my handlebars, especially at sidehops and other moves that you need to lift the bike with the hands. I'm going to replace my current gloves with these:Try-All Gloves and also get some new grips... Any advice appreciated. Many thanks

I'm not so good at sidehops as I'm in the learning process as you but I think I can help you. I tend to leave the brake just in the end of me ''preload'' This is when you are hopping on the rear and you do the last hop before you lift up the whole bike. During that last hop I tend to crouch more and drop the front wheel fairly down compared to the previus hops that are just helping me to keep balance. When the front wheel is low enough, (I have folded knees and streched arms in the same second and I'm ready to jump upwards), I just leave the brake and push hard. I actually leave the brake lever when I know that there is no reason to lower my front wheel further...just when I'm ready to jump upwards, after my preload. However, I have still some problems with the move.Almost always I land my sidehops to the rear wheel so I can't have the extra support the front wheel can offer. As a result, my sidehops are still small and I haven't tried on an object of my bar height yet. I really like sidehops so I would like to build confidence and gain some height gradualy! Hope I helped man...and hopefully a more experienced rider will tell you something more accurate.

I really enjoyed the video!Nice riding, nice music.

I'm just in the same condition like you. I ride almost 1 and a half years and everyday I go for riding I tend to do the same lines and climb the same objects because of the ''fear'' I have become confort with all the trials basics such as sidehops, pedalhop etc...but I just don't try to get onto higher obstacles. And the times I do I realise that it wasn't so difficult and I can push myself further... I'm trying to deal with that problem but I haven't succeed yet. I was talking with a skillful skateboarder yesterday and he told me to visualise my self achieving going higher...to create an image in my head with me doing the move...something like that.... I think that I will follow what he and Ali said! You must trust yourself and just try higher...

The most amazing bike video I have ever seen in my whole life!!!!

I'm using a disk ien the front and HS33 on the back.(smooth rim) The maguras are perfect, they slipped only one or two since I got them. I have also ridden a double disk bike but I didn't like the ''feel'' of the disk brake on the back. It's only a personal preference though... Sorry I forgot...I have tried the setups only on stock bikes
