Cheers lads Bars are the Trialtech Sports. The stem is the System Ex 110X35 - looks a little weird put it puts the bars in a really nice position for both spins and trials.
  2. No I haven't gone brakeless, allthough I am thinking about it - I've gone dual disk, BB5's to be exact. The spoke tensioner is actually amazing! Comments please

    I Hate Halfords

I've done around 15 wheels now (for my bikes, and a few for my mates) and if you were paying £15 for a wheelbuild each time it'd really add up! To be able to build a wheel is a good skill to have. It gets easier and faster every time too, the last wheel I built was my rear 24" wheel - it took me 25mins, was perfectly true and tensioned, and I've only needed to touch it once since putting it on my bike in Janurary to tension it abit more
  4. This is completely untrue! Wheel size makes no difference to the height of objects you are getting up. Yes, but if you choose a 'streety' 24" then it will be harder to control on the rear wheel then a 20", 'trialsy' 24" or a 26"..
  5. I wouldn't worry about it. Those Echo's have such a hard compound that their grip just doesn't compare to the Maxxis's or Try-All's (never tryed a Monty so can't really say).
  6. I was being serious, its the only sub 1Kg 19" tyre on Tarty..
  7. It surprises me that the lightest 19" tyre is the Echo

    Pleas Explain

yes it does. the booster on top is there for when the wheel rolls backwards it the brake flexs into the booster, when it goes forward it goes into the frame. so having it underneath would make a difference, hence why you get better hold with a booster.
  9. Exactly, it completely ruined the 'flick-ability' of the bike.
  10. I can't believe I forgot to mention this.. Back when I ran an Onza Zoot frame, my front end was far too low (my steerer was really short!) so to get a higher front end I put on a mod Viz Welded stem - 150X 30 - and it rode so trialsy it was unbelieveable! More so than my stock did, which really surprised me! EDIT: I couldn't manual or bunnyhop it though, so switched back to my 24UK.
  11. Your bikes looking good ..apart from the stem, its so long it just looks out of place! But if it rides nice then thats all that matters.
  12. Cheers lads, can't believe I've never seen it there before
  13. Its mad that the Tenby Trials site is still running-ish - Here. I'm trying to work out if this wall is from somewhere in/around Tenby: As it looks so fun to ride, but I've never seen it around here. If its from another town, anyone know where?
  14. If you want to try a longer stem then it'll be trial and error really. Most people are comfortable on their 24's with a shorter set-up. I recently switched from my 85X20 set-up to a 120X17 Trialtech Sport stem on my 24UK, and it doesn't feel that bad - definatly feels more 'trialsy', but has lost alot of the 'streetyness'. So i'm now looking for a new stem that'll lie in the middle. I've narrowed it down to the 110X20 Trialtech Race stem, or the 110X35 System X stem. Trialtech will allow for more trials, System X will aloow for more street. Bit of a hard decision really
  15. This always helps me pick out the geo of stem I want.. If you look at where the 80X20 stem would position your bars, then where the 150X35 stem would position your bars, you can see just how much you'll mess up the feel of your bike! If your after a higher front end why not use one of the System X stems? They're all at a 35 degree and range from 90mm up to 130mm. The 100X35 or the 110X35 should feel nice, as it'd put the bars in a similar position to the 85X20 - just 3cm higher..
  16. Easily the most amount of gaps that I've seen preformed in the same video!
  17. They're the best cable operated disc brakes in the world, fact. Just to clarify - the BB7 allows you to move both pads inwards individually by just turning the knobs. The BB5 only lets you adjust the inside pad, the outer pad is fixed. Less moving parts = less money.. If used with the same compound of pads and the same rotor the preformance will be identical! The BB7 really only helps when the pads wear down and you must move them inwards.
  18. They're identical weights, geo and price - and they look really simalar too. Just pick one! The downtube on the Zhi looks stunning though so I'd have to go with the Z3R frame..
  19. 1015 +/- 0 385 74° EDIT: that was on a MK4..
  20. duel disk 24UK makes me look so smooth (:

  21. Fair enough if you like the feel of your bars, but your losing out on around 30mm of rise by using those bars compared with the TrialTech/Inspired/TartBikes/Viz/Try-all riser bars. And this is most probaly why your front end feels low. On my Z2 I ran TrialTech bars with a TartyBikes stem, and still had to put 15mm of spacers underneath the stem to get the height I wanted. With that set-up it rode so nicely though!
  22. I've been using Try-all shin pads for the past few months, and they definatly do the job, they're just to overbuilt for me. So I brought these: They're a legging, with a built in shin pad: Got hit seriously hard in the leg the other day wearing these, right on the scar from wgere I've previously had stiches - and there wasm't even a scratch The only website I can find that sells them is Trialsprod, it's where I brought mine from so they're totally trustworthy! Here. EDIT: Ahh man, they're out of stock!

    Stem For 24"

Untrue, its the nicest stem that I've used on my 24UK by far! By the 24UK frame is a tad smaller than the Inspired, so that could be why this stem works for me, and not for others? For a 'streety' 24" I'd go for a 26" stem, but for a 'trialsy' 24" I'd run one of the shorter 20" stems. Something around 150X30 would be good. i'd say one of these stems: 150x25 Monty 221 Pr or, 150x25, 150x30, 160x25 Viz Welded Its all personal preference really, I prefur a longer 'reach' and a higher front end - so those two stems would be ideal for me, but not for others.
  24. On my 24" I've been running 22:14 for ages - which is a pretty hard gearing, and I thought that it felt perfect. How wrong I was! I recently changed it to 22:15 (lighter gearing) and it felt lush. So I went lighter again to 20:14 which was even better, and then brought down to 20:15 which is brilliant with 175mm cranks for both street and trials. I don't think you should dismiss the lighter gearings, they make trials so much easier without really comprimising street
